Appleton Estate Hearts Collection 1993 is a Jamaican Single Cask Rum distilled from molasses on a pot still, matured for 29 years and bottled at 63.5%.
The rum was distilled in 1993 at Appleton Estate and subsequently selected without reduction by Velier as part of the Hearts Collection, a series of 100% pot still single marks that has become a cult object among collectors worldwide since launching in 2020. The selection was made jointly by the distillery's legendary master blender Joy Spence and Velier founder Luca Gargano. Only 12 casks were bottled, resulting in a total run of 3,600 bottles.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Nutmeg and cinnamon mixed with mint, caramel, toasted oak and vanilla, supported by leather and roasted wood around banana.
Palate
Explosive and peppery with strong spice, then fruit returns under a strong menthol tone, followed by chocolate coating the tongue, alongside old-world fruit and leather.
Finish
Despite the 63.5%, the alcohol is remarkably well integrated, delivering a warm, long finish of black tea and tobacco.
