Gran Reserva is the entry point to Ron Esclavo's solera universe, a more approachable, yet still complex expression of the house's signature Dominican style.

    Expert Description

Ron Esclavo Gran Reserva is a Dominican Republic Rum, produced by Oliver & Oliver, aged 3 to 5 years in American and French oak casks and bottled at 40%.

The rum is column distilled and then aged in the tropical climate, where high temperatures speed up maturation. Gran Reserva is the most approachable edition in the Ron Esclavo range, but still builds on the house's signature solera approach, where rum of different ages is gradually blended through the ageing system to achieve a smooth, rounded character.

The result is a light, sweet rum with a syrupy consistency and a fine bitterness in the finishing taste.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Raisin, orange and vanilla, with a hint of prune.

    Palate

Dried dates, burnt sugar and orange, with a syrupy consistency and light, sweet chocolate.

    Finish

Medium length, with wood, burnt sugar and a fine bitterness.
