Among Guyana's historic wooden column stills, the Versailles still is one of the most sought-after by collectors, and RomDeLuxe has captured exactly this style in an 18 year old cask from the Wild Series.
Expert Description
RomDeLuxe Wild Series Versailles MDXC 18 Year is a Guyana Rum from the Versailles pot still, aged for 18 years and bottled at 54.9%.
The rum is bottled by RomDeLuxe, the Danish independent bottler founded in 2016 by Claus Andersen, since known for its Wild Series of single cask releases at full cask strength. The rum originates from Diamond Distillers Ltd, the last remaining distillery in Guyana, and carries the MDXC mark, identifying it as distilled on the historic Versailles pot still. This release is part of RomDeLuxe's Unicorn Vol 2 collection and was aged for a full 18 years before being bottled at natural cask strength.
The result is a powerful, complex rum, where dried fruit and oak meet a long, spiced finish with typical Guyanese depth.
