Puntacana Esplendido VS 12-20 year old rum. Oliver & Oliver, Dominican Republic. 38% CLUB ESPLENDIDO V.S This deep dark rum is a blend of young and older distillates blended with a 25 year old mother rum. It is finished 12-20 years in American oak barrels and then rounded off 6 months in used from Burgundy. The producer has simply named this rum Esplendido, which best translates as excellent. The rum has an inviting aroma of sweet pastries and toffee. A big rum with a broad spectrum of flavors that can be described as brown sugar and bold bourbon vanilla in harmony with the taste of American oak. The finish has notes of toasted carob, cinnamon and caramelized fruit.
