This delicious rum from the Philippines is matured in American oak barrels for 4 years and then finished in 4 different types of sherry casks. The rum has been aged in Fino, Pedro Ximenez, Cream and Palo Cortado. The creation of the Don Papa rum is inspired by the story of Dionisio Magbuelas, also known as "Papa Isio", one of the forgotten heroes of the Philippine Revolution. Before the revolution in the 19th century, Papa Isio worked in sugar cane production. Together with his group of resistance fighters, Papa Isio played a central role in the liberation of the island of Negros from the Spanish colonial power. Don Papa Today, rum is produced on Negros and is what is known as a Single Island Rum.
