American whiskey is produced with a minimum of 51% corn, as it is a plentiful crop in the US. American whiskey production began in the northern states and was introduced to the US by Scottish and Irish immigrants. Later, production moved south to Kentucky and Tennessee, two states well-known today for their whiskey production. Bourbon is especially recognized as a product of Kentucky, while a brand like Jack Daniels is the most famous Tennessee whiskey. There are several types of American whiskey, of which these three types are the most common - all of which you can find here at Whisky.dk:

The whisky quickly became a favourite on the back bars of gentlemen's clubs in the US and Canada, earning it the nickname 'Club Whisky'. Walker registered the name as a trademark in 1882, and the word 'Canadian' was added in 1889. Hiram Walker aged his whisky for five years, an unusually long period at the time.

Roundstone Rye, the distillery's flagship, is made from 100% rye, grown locally, milled, fermented and distilled on site in copper pot stills. Virginia is often considered the birthplace of American whiskey, as rye whiskey was distilled here as far back as Jamestown in 1607, long before bourbon became Kentucky's signature spirit.

Cedar Ridge Distillery was founded in 2005 by Jeff and Laurie Quint and was the first licensed distillery in Iowa since Prohibition. Jeff Quint is a ninth-generation farmer and fermenter whose family roots trace back to German immigrants who arrived in the US in 1881, and the family's own farm-grown grain forms the basis of the whiskey.

During Prohibition, the whiskey became a fixture in speakeasies, including the famous Cotton Club in Harlem, where it was often smuggled in tin cans to avoid detection — earning it the nickname 'The Famous Old Brand'. The label lay dormant until spirits entrepreneur Matti Anttila revived it in 2011 using original bottles and promotional materials. Since 2018, the whiskey has been produced at Bardstown Bourbon Company through a collaborative distillation program.

The whisky is built from around fifty different Canadian whiskies and was developed in 1939 for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth's tour of Canada. Driftless Glen Distillery was founded in 2012 in Baraboo, Wisconsin, by Brian and Reneé Bemis, who scoured the country for a place with the right grain and water for bourbon and rye — and found it in the Driftless Area, a part of Wisconsin the glaciers of the last ice age bypassed. The distillery is housed in a restored 1800s building on the Baraboo River, near Circus World, and produces its whiskey grain-to-glass from local grain and water.

Old Ezra 7 Year Barrel Strength is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey bottled straight from the barrel with no water added, at a barrel strength of 58.5%.
Where many barrel strength bourbons turn harsh and bracing at high proof, Old Ezra does the opposite. It's aged for seven years in new, charred American white oak barrels, and the result is surprisingly rounded even at 117 proof. The mash bill runs 78% corn, 12% malted barley, and 10% rye, distilled according to a recipe tracing back to the birth of the Ezra Brooks brand in Kentucky. The whiskey is charcoal filtered after distillation for its trademark smoothness, but it's neither chill filtered nor coloured, so what lands in the glass is as close as it gets to what came out of the barrel.
Old Ezra 7 isn't an anniversary release or a one-off drop. It sits in Ezra Brooks' permanent lineup, and it's earned its keep, landing at number 7 on Whisky Advocate's Top 20 Whiskies list and picking up several double gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition along the way.
