  • Ouzo 12 bottle Greek anise liqueur
    Item no.: 22227865479-1304

In Greece, many dinners begin and end with a small glass that turns cloudy the moment water touches it. Ouzo 12 is one of the best-selling anise spirits in the country, and the name comes from a specific cask – barrel number 12 – that became the house's preferred style.

    Expert's description

Ouzo 12 is a Greek anise liqueur, double-distilled from grape alcohol with anise, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander, and nutmeg, at 38% alcohol.

The story goes back to 1880, when the Kaloyannis brothers founded their distillery in Constantinople, present-day Istanbul. The family moved to Thessaloniki in 1925, and in 1950 the distillate found its way to Piraeus, where it was bottled for the first time – then in the distinctive carafe that later became the standard for ouzo bottles. The name Ouzo 12 comes from cask number 12, whose particular blend became the family's preferred style after a series of experiments. Since 2005, Ouzo 12 has been distilled and produced at the Koutsikos distillery in Volos, central Greece.

    Taste

The taste is dominated by anise, with underlying spice notes of cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg, giving it a warm, aromatic character. Mixed with water, the drink turns cloudy and milder, while the spice notes come through more clearly.

    Specifications

    Expert description

Pallini Limoncello is an Italian Fruit liqueur based on Sfusato Amalfitano lemons from the Amalfi Coast, bottled at 26%.

The Pallini family has been making super-premium liqueurs since 1875, when Nicola Pallini founded the first shop and distillery in Antrodoco. After the First World War, his son Virgilio Sr. moved the business to Rome, close to the Pantheon, where it still stands today. The Limoncello is made from Sfusato Amalfitano, an elongated lemon variety from the Amalfi Coast with a thick, aromatic peel that ripens for up to 12 months and is so sweet it's locally nicknamed the "bread lemon", because it can be eaten like a piece of fruit. Harvesting, peeling and extraction all happen within 24 hours to preserve the lemons' freshness, after which the extract is transported to the distillery in Rome and blended with Italian beet sugar and additional lemon oil.

    Taste

The nose is intense and fresh with lemon peel. On the palate, Pallini Limoncello is sweet and creamy with a clear, clean lemon flavour, while the finish is refreshing with a fine acidity that keeps the sweetness in balance.

    Item no.: 2265481-30-Vintage11

A piece of German spirits history, stored away since the 1970s - this bottle is no longer produced, and only a single example remains.

Please note: the bottle dates from the 1970s and has been stored away for many years. It is sold as a collector's item, and the quality of the contents cannot be guaranteed. Scratches and marks may appear on the bottle.

    Expert's Description

Persico Peach Liqueur is a German Fruit liqueur based on peaches, bottled at 25% ABV.

This bottle comes from the German Spezialitäten-Brennereien Friedr. Schwarze and carries the designation "Alt-Berliner Spezialität" (Old Berlin Specialty). The Persico style dates back to around 1870, when it became a fixture of Berlin's bar and café culture as a stone-fruit liqueur flavoured with bitter almond and apricot kernel, and "Sauern mit Persico" - sour cherry liqueur served with Persico - was for decades a classic pairing in Berlin's taverns.

    Taste

The liqueur is a classic German stone-fruit liqueur with a sweet-tart peach flavour and a characteristic bitter-almond undertone typical of the style. As the bottle is over 50 years old and the storage conditions are not known in detail, the exact nuances of the flavour today may differ from a fresh bottle, and the quality of the contents cannot be guaranteed, as noted above.

    Specifications

Name: Persico Peach Liqueur Vintage Bottle
    Producer: Spezialitäten-Brennereien Friedr. Schwarze
    Region/Country: Berlin, Germany
Type: German Fruit Liqueur (Alt-Berliner Spezialität)
    Main Ingredients/Flavourings: Peaches, bitter almond
    ABV: 25%
    Size: 100 CL
Number of Bottles: Only 1 available
Edition: Vintage bottle from the 1970s, discontinued
Serving Suggestion: as a collector's item for the wine rack, or enjoyed carefully as a taste of German spirits history

    Investment Potential

Medium. The bottle is an authentic, discontinued collector's item from a production that no longer exists, which typically supports rising collector value over time. On the other hand, this is a single example rather than a large, documented run, and the bottle has visible scratches and marks along with a content quality that cannot be guaranteed - factors that weigh it down. Overall, the potential is assessed as medium, driven primarily by rarity and historical interest rather than a guaranteed increase in value.

    Did You Know?

Did you know the tradition "Sauern mit Persico" - sour cherry liqueur served together with a Persico peach liqueur - was a fixture of Berlin's tavern culture as early as around 1870? This bottle is a rare survivor from a later period of that same tradition.

  • Small square liqueur bottle with clear liquid and black-and-white label from Pierre Ferrand
    Item no.: 22227865378-8043

The name curaçao traces back to the Caribbean island where bitter laraha oranges once grew wild and became a trading commodity for sailors and distillers. France embraced the style and made it its own, and in this small 35 cl bottle that whole history is gathered into a format easy to take home and experiment with.

    Expert's Description

Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao Triple Sec is a French Liqueur on a cognac base, bottled at 40% in a 35 cl bottle.

The liqueur follows the same recipe as the house's 70 cl bottling, where bitter and sweet orange peel is distilled together with cognac and a neutral spirit in three passes, a technique that gives the name triple sec and ensures a dry, clean citrus character rather than overwhelming sweetness.

The smaller format makes the bottle well suited to trying the style out without committing to a full bottle, and suits a home bar just getting started as well as an experienced enthusiast who wants an extra bottle for travel.

The Pierre Ferrand cognac base gives the liqueur a warmth and depth that sets it apart from liqueurs built on neutral spirit alone.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The aroma offers orange blossom and candied orange peel, with an underlying wood note reminiscent of classic cognac.

    Palate

The palate shifts from candied orange up front to hazelnut and bitter almonds, with a light marzipan-like sweetness in the middle.

    Finish

The finish is dry and nutty, where bitter almonds and a last trace of orange peel remain longest.

The name curaçao traces back to the Caribbean island of the same name, where bitter laraha oranges, a degenerated variety of the sweet orange, were dried and used to flavour liqueur as early as the 1600s, long before the style became a fixture of the French spirits repertoire.

  • Square liqueur bottle with clear liquid and black-and-white label from Pierre Ferrand
    Item no.: 22227865378-8042

Cocktail historian David Wondrich has spent a large part of his life tracing how drinks tasted before modern liqueurs made everything sweeter and more uniform. When he turned his attention to curaçao liqueur, he found his way to an 1800s recipe, which Pierre Ferrand has since carried through to the bottle.

    Expert's Description

Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao Triple Sec is a French Liqueur on a cognac base, bottled at 40%.

The liqueur was created together with Wondrich and is based on a historical recipe in which bitter and sweet orange peel is distilled together with cognac and a neutral spirit, three times over, hence the name triple sec. The result is drier and more elegant than many modern orange liqueurs, which often lean toward pure sweetness.

The cognac base from Pierre Ferrand gives the liqueur warmth and depth that sets it apart from liqueurs built on neutral spirit alone, underlining the house's roots in Grande Champagne.

This style of curaçao liqueur was a fixture in cocktail books from the 1800s and today appears in classics such as Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Sidecar, White Lady and Mai Tai.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The aroma offers orange peel and lemon blossom, with a hint of vanilla and light spice from the cognac base.

    Palate

The palate is dry and clear, with orange and citrus oil leading, carried by a mild warmth and a touch of spice from the cognac.

    Finish

The finish is long, dry and elegantly bitter, where the orange peel lingers longest on the palate.

    Item no.: 0596-025533

The sun beats down on Barbados, and the air carries the scent of toasted orange peel and warm molasses. At Stade's old rum distillery, Maison Ferrand went looking for inspiration in 19th-century Caribbean kitchens and came back with a liqueur rooted in the nearly forgotten tradition of shrubb.

    Expert's Description

Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao Tropical is a French Liqueur brewed from Barbados rum and bottled at 40%.

The bottle is the newest addition to Maison Ferrand's Dry Curaçao range, alongside the classic Original and the more exotic Yuzu Late Harvest. While those two build on a cognac base, Tropical takes a different route: master blender Alexandre Gabriel worked with spirits historian David Wondrich to dig up the almost-forgotten Caribbean shrubb tradition — a drink made from rum, citrus peels, sugar and local spices such as cinnamon and clove.

Production takes place at Stade's West Indies Rum Distillery, a distillery with around 130 years of history on Barbados. Laraha orange peels are infused and slowly distilled, while a separate botanical infusion of vanilla, spices and orange is prepared on a rum base. Everything is then blended with both pot still and column still rums, aged between two and five years, before the liqueur is bottled at 40%.

Tropical launched in January 2026 and has so far only reached the European market.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Ripe pineapple meets toasted orange peel, a hint of vanilla and a light floral note that signals the tropical direction the liqueur takes.

    Palate

Soft and full-bodied, with layers of pineapple, mango and passion fruit woven together with bitter orange and fresh citrus. The sweetness is clear but never heavy.

    Finish

Long and warm, with a citrus-fresh close and an elegant bitter bite from the orange peel that keeps the liqueur from turning cloying.

The yuzu is picked late in the season, when the peel is thickest and most fragrant, and sent from the French citrus specialist L'Agrumist to Pierre Ferrand's workshop. There it meets a base of the house's own cognac and becomes something that is neither pure citrus nor pure spirit, but somewhere in between.

    Expert's Description

Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao Yuzu Late Harvest is a French Liqueur on a cognac base, bottled at 40%.

Yuzu is a citrus fruit grown mainly in Japan, a cross between mandarin and a wild citrus variety, valued for its intensely fragrant peel rather than its juice. At L'Agrumist the fruit is hand-picked late in the season, a technique that concentrates the peel and gives it a character closer to pastry than fresh citrus.

The base is Pierre Ferrand's own cognac, which lends the liqueur depth and a gentle warmth beneath the citrus notes. The combination of late harvest and cognac base makes this Limited Edition bottling a different take on the house's classic Dry Curaçao style.

The liqueur is intended as a cocktail ingredient that can bring freshness and complexity to drinks that would otherwise lack a clear citrus edge.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The aroma is intense and floral, with yuzu's distinctive peel and a hint of honey and pastry.

    Palate

The palate is sweet and citrus-driven, where yuzu's sharp peel meets a soft, cake-like sweetness from the late-harvest technique.

    Finish

The finish is fresh and lightly bitter, where the cognac base gives a warm close beneath the citrus sweetness.

There's something about the old Pirat label, the golden sailing ship, and the heavy, dust-covered bottle that still speaks of a bygone era in Danish spirits history. Blackcurrants picked in the Danish summer were pressed and blended with genuine Jamaica rum by one of Odense's oldest spirits houses — a recipe that today belongs firmly to the past.

    Expert's Description

Pirat Solbærrom is a Danish Fruit Liqueur made from freshly pressed blackcurrant juice and genuine Jamaica rum, bottled at 21.5%. The bottle comes from Vingaarden A/S in Odense, a spirits house with roots stretching back to 1895, when it began life as Odense Vin Kompagni. The company took the name Vingaarden A/S in 1962, and for much of the 20th century it held the title of supplier to the Royal Danish Court — a distinction still printed on this very label. Vingaarden A/S no longer exists as an independent company; it became part of the Swedish V&S Group in 2003 and later Pernod Ricard, and production under the Pirat name ended long ago.

Blackcurrant rum liqueurs were a fixture of the Danish drinks cabinet for decades, and Pirat Solbærrom was blended to bring out both the fresh blackcurrants and the full-bodied rum. Colouring (E150) was added to give the liqueur its deep, dark hue, a common practice in production of that era. The cap carries the text "For Export Only" beneath a crown emblem, marking this particular bottle as one intended for export markets rather than ordinary domestic retail.

    Taste

The nose offers ripe, dark blackcurrants with a touch of tartness, quickly followed by the warmth of the rum and a hint of caramel from the colouring. The palate is sweet and berry-driven with a round, gently spiced rum undertone, finishing soft and lingeringly sweet in the style of classic Danish dessert liqueurs.

    Investment Potential

Medium — Vingaarden A/S no longer exists as a company, and Pirat Solbærrom has been out of production for decades. The combination of a defunct producer, royal supplier status, and a "For Export Only" marking makes it interesting to collectors of Danish spirits history, even though no active market currently exists for it.

Vingaarden A/S held the title "Supplier to the Royal Danish Court", meaning the company at one point delivered goods to the Danish royal household — a detail still printed directly on this bottle's label.

  • Clear green liqueur in a tall bottle, banana liqueur from the Netherlands
    Item no.: 22227865378-1009000

The signal-green colour in the glass is unmistakable - Pisang Ambon has stood on bar shelves since 1948, carried by a recipe that travelled from Indonesia's banana groves to the Dutch house of Bols.

    Expert's Description

Pisang Ambon is a Dutch banana liqueur at 17% ABV from the house of Bols, made following a traditional Indonesian recipe that Bols has produced since 1948.

The liqueur is known for its vivid green colour and sweet, ripe banana flavour, and its name comes from the Indonesian word "pisang" (banana) and the island of Ambon. It is made to work across a wide range of drinks, where it adds both colour and a round, tropical banana sweetness.

    Taste

The taste is sweet and full-bodied with ripe bananas, a soft, tropical character and a light herbal undertone that adds depth without overtaking the banana sweetness.

  • Bottle of green Dutch banana liqueur
    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-1972624

Green, sweet and inspired by an island in the former Dutch East Indies - Pisang Ambon is the original banana liqueur that has coloured cocktails around the world since 1948.

    Ekspertens beskrivelse

Pisang Ambon is a Dutch banana liqueur from Lucas Bols, based on an old Indonesian recipe, bottled at 17% ABV.

The liqueur was introduced in 1948 by Lucas Bols, whose roots as a family company date back to 1575. The name "Pisang" means banana in Indonesian, and "Ambon" refers to the Indonesian island the Dutch had ties to during the colonial period. Production itself takes place in Holland, however, where Bols had the resources and expertise to create a high-quality liqueur inspired by the exotic island.

    Smag

The taste is sweet and full-bodied with a distinct character of sun-ripened bananas, while the characteristic green colour makes the liqueur easy to recognise in the glass. The sweetness is balanced and well suited to a wide range of cocktails.

  • Poli Elisir Limone di Poli Limoncello from Italy contains 27 percent alcohol
    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-1972734
Sun-ripened lemons from the shores of Lake Garda, peel that slowly gives up its essential oils, and a family that has been distilling in Bassano del Grappa since 1898. This is what a limoncello tastes like when it isn't just sweet yellow booze, but a proper digestif with soul.

The expert's take on Poli Elisir Limone Limoncello

Poli Elisir Limone is an Italian lemon liqueur from Poli Distillerie in Schiavon near Bassano del Grappa in Veneto. The Poli family has run the distillery since 1898 and is best known for their grappa, but their range of liqueurs — the elisir — has earned a solid reputation all of its own. This one is built on a natural infusion of lemon peel, using only the thin, yellow outer zest. The essential oils sit in the peel, and they're what give the liqueur its fresh, almost crackling citrus aroma rather than the flat, boiled-sweet character you find in industrial versions.

The lemons come from the coast of Lake Garda — the Riviera dei Limoni — where they strike the right balance between acidity and oil. The peel is infused in alcohol, and the result is bottled at 27%, a touch stronger than many mass-produced limoncellos. That makes it well suited both as a closing dram after a meal and as a base in cocktails, where it can hold its own against prosecco and soda without disappearing.

Poli makes this one without filtering the aroma away, and you can taste it. It's meant as a digestif in the classic Italian sense — something you pour after a good meal, chilled but not ice-cold, in a small tulip-shaped glass.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Fresh grated lemon zest, sweet and intense, with a hint of blossom and a clean, almost sorbet-like freshness. Much like the smell of homemade lemon ice cream on a warm summer day.

    Palate

Full and invigorating citrus with a gentle sweetness that never turns cloying. Underneath sits a little bitter edge from the peel itself, which keeps the balance and gives it character.

    Finish

Clean and refreshing, with citrus lingering and a pleasant warmth from the alcohol. Short, crisp and dry enough to make you want another sip.

Poli is far better known for grappa than for liqueur — the family even runs its own grappa museum in Bassano del Grappa, where you can follow the craft behind Italy's grape brandy right back to the distillery's roots in 1898.
