A secret recipe from 1510 that survived a revolution - D.O.M Bénédictine is one of the world's oldest liqueurs, created by a monk and rediscovered after more than three hundred years lost to history.

    Ekspertens beskrivelse

D.O.M Bénédictine is a French herbal liqueur that, according to tradition, was first formulated in 1510 by the Benedictine monk Dom Bernardo Vincelli at Fécamp Abbey in Normandy, bottled at 40% ABV.

The recipe was lost during the French Revolution but was rediscovered in 1863 by wine merchant Alexandre Le Grand, who built the lavish Palais Bénédictine in Fécamp and established the current distillery in 1882. The liqueur is today produced by Bacardi and still follows the original recipe's 27 plants and spices, with angelica, hyssop and lemon balm as the three main ingredients.

    Smag

D.O.M Bénédictine offers notes of crisp freshness, softened by a hint of honey, and a deep spice and citrus character that makes the flavour distinctive and unforgettable. The golden colour and extremely rich texture give an exceptional sense of warmth on the palate.
