  Nose

  Lindores Abbey Thiron 2024 is a Limited Edition Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, representing the first in a series of annual releases from the Lindores Abbey Distillery.

  It boasts a rich and complex flavor profile, blending notes of vanilla cake, caramel, baking spices, and fruity undertones such as plums. The maturation takes place in a combination of French virgin oak casks, first fill Bourbon casks, and red wine barriques, adding depth and character to the taste. The silky smooth finish makes it a perfect representation of Lindores Abbey's tradition and craftsmanship.

  Linkwood is located in Elgin, Speyside and primarily makes whisky that is used in blends such as Johnnie Walker and White Horse, but sells to many others. They produce single malt under their own name in addition to this and a rare special release. Beautiful floral nose. Also a nice texture with marzipan and almond notes. Nicely tart and quite fresh.
  
  In 1992, the then United Distillers (now Diageo, the world's largest spirits company) started the Flora & Fauna series, which at the time consisted of 26 different versions of Scotch Single Malt whisky to show the vast differences in Scotland's whisky regions. Bottled at 43% for most of the bottles, but some were also bottled at Cask Strength, i.e. full cask strength, and some versions also came in wooden boxes.

  This whisky was bottled by Murray McDavid and distilled at Linkwood Distillery in Speyside. It was aged for 8 years in 8 bourbon hogsheads and finished in small 1st Fill Koval Bourbon casks of 110 liters. These barrels provide a higher ratio of contact between the spirit and the oak for a more intense aroma and flavor. It smells of creamy vanilla, caramel and a subtle hint of popcorn. On the palate, you'll find more vanilla, oak, spices and beautiful tropical fruit. The finish has notes of orange, brown sugar and, not least, malt sweetness. Murray McDavid has bottled this Linkwood as a tribute to the distillery's 200th anniversary in 2021.
