Bottled at full cask strength of 57.7%, so feel free to add a few drops of water to Bunnahabhain 2011 Lady of the Glen.

This cask strength limited release whisky from Bunnahabhain has been aged for 10 years and is composed of sherry and port wine casks. It comes from Warehouse No. 9, where the previous limited releases have also been aged. It is close to the sea and therefore gives a very distinct salty note to the whisky. It is 56.2% ABV and has flavor notes of sweet red and dark berries. Cinnamon and warm spices, roasted nuts and a prominent note of oak. It's named Aonadh, which means union in Scottish Gaelic. This of course refers to the combination of the two types of casks. The name is Gaelic for 'smoky' and it certainly hints at what's in store. That's right - a heavily smoky Bunnahabhain! An excellent chance to try a smoky malt from a distillery known for light, fruity Islay whiskies. The nose is immediately met with the infallible smoke associated with a peat fire. There are hints of a spicy heat and some sweet fruit. Sweet fruit - dates - are also met with peat fire and cracked pepper as Toiteach runs across the tongue and down the throat, finishing in house style, with a slightly dusty dryness and - of course - a lot of smoke.
