Mortlach has for generations enjoyed a reputation as "the distiller's distillery" – whisky people's own secret favourite.

    Expert's Description

Mortlach Special Release 2023 "The Katana's Edge" is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky finished in Japanese ex-Kanosuke and ex-Pinot Noir casks, bottled at cask strength 58%.

The release is part of Diageo's annual Special Releases series and is inspired by Japanese culture and craftsmanship. The combination of Japanese whisky casks and French Pinot Noir wine casks gives notes of ripe melon, pear and spiced umami, finishing with a long, delicate sweetness.
