The sea, with its strong salty winds, has a major influence on the distinctive whiskies from the island. Mac-Talla Mara is bottled at full cask strength and is as raw and unforgiving as nature Islay. Mara has a light golden glow. It smells strongly of campfire with a touch of citrus peel. The intense smoky flavor is characterized by meat from the grill and burnt oak. The long, strong finish is a treat for peat heads . The story behind the Morrison family's work at Islay begins with whiskey merchant William Walker in the 1930s. Stanley P. Morrison began his apprenticeship at T. William Walker & Co. By 1951 it was time to strike out on his own and he set up his own whisky company 'Stanley P Morrison Ltd', working with many of the well-known blended whisky producers.
