  • GlenAllachie Moscatel Finish 12 Year Old – Golden Speyside Whisky
    Item no.: 2222223665478-12

Some releases never travel far from home, yet still turn out exotic. GlenAllachie Moscatel Finish 12 Year Old was created specifically for the European market and draws its sweetness from Moscatel casks, giving the whisky a golden hue and a fruit-driven character.

    Expert's description

GlenAllachie Moscatel Finish 12 Year Old is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky, finished in Moscatel casks, bottled at 48% ABV.

The release is part of GlenAllachie's Only for Europe series, created specifically for the European market, where the distillery experiments with cask types rarely seen across the wider range. The Moscatel cask, originally used to age the sweet Spanish dessert wine of the same name, gives the whisky its distinctive golden colour.

The Moscatel finish adds layers of ripe fruit and honey on top of the spirit's underlying Speyside character, and the result is a whisky that stays approachable without giving up complexity.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Peaches and cinnamon meet honey, raisins and sweet grapefruit in an aroma that feels both fresh and mature at once.

    Palate

Honey and pineapple unfold alongside orange peel, cinnamon and a light aniseed spice.

    Finish

Medium length and gentle, with a final hint of sweet fruit and spice trailing quietly away.

  • Bottle of Bruichladdich Black Art Edition 10.1, a 29-year-old mystery whisky
    Item no.: 059763-615-238

Some whiskies tell you everything about themselves. Black Art does the opposite. Edition 10.1 is the tenth release in Bruichladdich's most secretive series, where neither the barley nor the cask type is ever revealed, and the mystery is the whole point.

    Expert description

Black Art Edition 10.1 is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Bruichladdich, matured for 29 years and bottled at 45.1%.

The Black Art series is the distillery's most secretive release. Neither the barley variety, the cask type, nor the exact maturation recipe is ever disclosed, and that's deliberate. The series is about alchemy rather than facts, leaving the interpretation to nose and palate instead of a spec sheet.

Edition 10.1 was bottled in 2022 after 29 years of maturation, an age that gives the whisky a deep, almost shimmering complexity. Non-chill filtered and with natural colour, it stands exactly as the cask has shaped it over nearly three decades.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Dark dried fruit, old oak and a tangy sherry edge, mixed with a touch of wax and smoked tea.

    Palate

Rich and layered with fig, dark chocolate and spiced ginger, slowly giving way to a dry, tannic oak note.

    Finish

Long, dry and enigmatic, with a persistent spiciness and a hint of smoked wood that lingers.

    Item no.: 059763-615-237

In the fields around Dalcross, north of Inverness, the Rose family has farmed the land since 1913. The Organic is Bruichladdich's love letter to their organic barley, distilled unpeated and built entirely around fruit, honey and blossom.

    Expert description

The Organic 2011 is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Bruichladdich, matured in first-fill bourbon casks and bottled at 50%.

The Rose family has run Mid Coul Farm in the north of Scotland since 1913, and their organic Publican barley is still grown on principles that build on earlier generations' farming, without artificial fertiliser or pesticides. Bruichladdich uses this barley to show that organic growing can produce a whisky with a character entirely its own.

The whisky was distilled in 2011 and matured for 11 years on cask, unpeated throughout. The result is a light, fruit-forward single malt in which the grain and the wood are left to speak undisturbed.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Creamy caramel and cantaloupe melon meet ripe stone fruit and lemon zest, followed by toasted oak, orange blossom, honey and malted barley sugar, spiced with honeysuckle, rose and geranium.

    Palate

Barley sugar sweetness carried on a full texture opens into honeyed citrus, toasted oak, vanilla fudge and ripe pear, while a fresh, salty sea breeze mingles with vanilla and cedar from the cask.

    Finish

Soft and lightly tangy, with a finish of honey, toasted oak and a trace of sweet barley that lingers for a long time.

  • Bottle of Bruichladdich Bere Barley from Orkney grain, terroir series
    Item no.: 059763-615-236

Orkney grows a grain older than whisky itself. Bere Barley 2012 is Bruichladdich's tribute to this almost-forgotten variety, distilled unpeated and matured for a full decade so the grain's own character can stand entirely on its own.

    Expert description

Bere Barley 2012 is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Bruichladdich, matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 50%.

Bere is Britain's oldest cultivated grain variety, used by Scottish farmers and distillers for centuries before modern, high-yield barley strains took over the fields. As part of its terroir project, Bruichladdich sourced this barley from the Agronomy Institute at Orkney College to show what a single grain can do for flavour, independent of soil or cask.

The whisky comes from the 2011 harvest, was distilled in 2012 and has spent a full decade on cask, so both the grain and the wood are left to speak for themselves, with no peat to get in the way.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

White grapes, toasted oats and a touch of orris root meet ripe apricot, peach and honey. There's an earthy, cereal base with a whisper of creamy vanilla and nuts.

    Palate

White pepper opens things up, quickly giving way to orange marmalade, peach and nectarine. The texture turns creamy at first, then crisp with malt, vanilla and grain, with a faint salted liquorice note tucked underneath.

    Finish

Savoury and lightly spiced, with notes of warm flatbread, black pepper and a touch of rosemary that lingers.

    Item no.: 059763-615-235

Islay speaks with many voices, but Port Charlotte's is deep, briny and thick with tar. PMC:01 is the sixth release in the distillery's Cask Exploration series, where the peated Islay character meets the fruit-laden oak of Pomerol wine casks for the very first time.

    Expert description

Port Charlotte 2013 PMC:01 is a peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, first matured in bourbon casks and later finished in French Pomerol wine casks, bottled at 54.5%.

Port Charlotte is Bruichladdich distillery's peated single malt, distilled on the same Victorian equipment on Islay's west coast as the distillery's unpeated core range, but taken to a far higher phenol level. PMC:01 is made from Concerto barley peated to 40 ppm and is the sixth bottling in the Cask Exploration series, where the distillery studies what different cask types do to the same peated spirit.

The whisky was distilled in 2013 and spent its first four years in first-fill bourbon casks, before being moved in 2017 into Pomerol wine casks from Bordeaux's Right Bank, one of the world's most sought-after red wine regions. It's the first time Port Charlotte spirit has been allowed to mature in this cask type, and the result is a whisky where salty Islay peat meets dark berries and tanned leather from the wine casks.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Blackberry, plum and tanned leather sit on top of a solid base of peat smoke and brine. A tart edge of red berries, a touch of rose and a whisper of honey soften the maritime weight.

    Palate

Dry smoke and salt water arrive first, quickly followed by dark berries, clove and a deep, leathery tannin from the wine casks. The fruit is sweet without tipping into sugariness, and the peat keeps everything grounded with an earthy weight.

    Finish

Long and smoky, with a finish of dried plums, spiced clove and a whisper of ash that lingers well after the last sip.

One day there was no Thornæs 1st Release. Then there was. That is how it feels with the first bottles from a new distillery – and Thornæs Distillery in North Zealand's 1st Release is exactly that: the beginning.

    Expert description

Thornæs 1st Release is an organic Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 50.9% from Thornæs Distillery in North Zealand. It is the distillery's very first official whisky release – the historic bottle that marks the moment a distillery goes from being new to having a history. Thornæs is an organic distillery in North Zealand working with local ingredients and small batch production. The 1st Release came in 50 cl at 50.9% – a clean, naturally bottled expression from the first casks. As a 1st Release, the bottle is now historic for everyone following Danish whisky.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Fresh and organic with the clear North Zealand distillate at the centre. Lightly fruity with the imprint of organic grain and early maturation.

    Palate

50.9% gives body and weight. The early maturation is noticeable, but the distillate quality is clear – clean, fruity and with potential for what comes after in the distillery's future releases.

    Finish

Fresh and relatively short – a young distillery's signature rather than long maturation.

    Item no.: 059763-615-218

Some whiskies only get better with time. This one has waited twenty-six years in a single sherry cask, making it one of the oldest Arran bottlings ever sent to Denmark.

A sherry hogshead, tucked away in the Arran warehouses since the mid-nineties, now drawn straight from the wood.

    Expert Description

Arran 1996/2023 Single Cask Denmark 26 Year Old is a Single Islands Malt Scotch Whisky matured in a sherry hogshead and bottled at 53.3%.

Distilled in August 1996, when the Lochranza distillery was only a year old, the whisky spent a full 26 years in the same sherry cask before being bottled in July 2023, non-chill filtered and with natural colour. Only 258 bottles exist from this cask, and the entire batch is reserved for Denmark – a rare chance to taste what a quarter century on sherry oak does to Arran's bright, fruity house style.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dark, mature sherry with stewed fruit, walnut and a hint of leather that speaks of the years spent in wood.

    Palate

Rich and deep with raisin, date and dark caramel, held together by a lightly bitter, oak-driven structure.

  • Annandale Storyman 2nd Edition bottle, Blended Scotch Whisky from Annandale Distillery
    Item no.: 059763-615-214

Some whiskies are made to be analysed. This one is made to be shared. The name says it plainly: Storyman, the bottle that sits in the middle of the table while somebody finishes telling it.

    The Expert's Description

Annandale Storyman 2nd Edition is a Blended Scotch Whisky bottled at 46% by Annandale Distillery. It was created by the distillery and personally selected by the actor and storyteller James Cosmo, and the second edition carries on from the first.

A blend mixes malt whisky with grain whisky, and the result is usually softer and more approachable than a single malt. At 46% and without chill filtration, however, this sits higher than most standard blends, which are typically bottled at 40%. That gives more body and a clearer texture without giving up the approachability.

Annandale sits at Annan in Dumfriesshire in the far south of Scotland and has been running again since 2014 after nearly a century of silence. Alongside the two single malt ranges, Man O’ Sword and Man O’ Words, the distillery also stands behind Storyman.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Malt and honey first, with baked apple and a touch of vanilla behind. There is a light cereal sweetness running through it, the signature of the blend, and a clean straightforward aroma with no sharp edges.

    Palate

Soft and round. Caramel, malt and bright fruit open, then a mild spiced warmth and a light nutty note. The 46% gives more body and length than you would expect from a blend, so there is something to hold on to.

    Finish

Medium length. Malt, honey and a dry cereal note that lets go cleanly without bitterness.

    Item no.: 059763-615-209

A small whitewashed warehouse on the Islay shore, salt in the air, and a batch that exists only until the next one takes its place.

    Expert Review

Ardbeg 19 Year Old Traigh Bhan Batch 5 is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46.2%.

Traigh Bhan means white beach, named after the small bay just below the distillery. The series is released in a new batch every year, and each one is its own irreplaceable blend that disappears from the shelf once the next arrives. Batch 5 brings together casks that give the whisky a depth not always found in Ardbeg's more widely available releases, without losing the distillery's trademark backbone of peat and smoke.

The whisky is non-chill filtered, so everything the casks gave it along the way is still in the glass.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Green peppers and a hint of smoked mango open things up, quickly followed by guava and a sweet whiff of maple syrup over crisp bacon.

    Palate

Peat arrives first, warm and earthy, before the sherry casks unfold with dark fruit and a lightly salted caramel.

  • Cask strength power with sherry sweetness and spiced depth
    Item no.: 059763-615-188

Forest berries and sweet spices open the door, then cocoa powder and gingerbread take over. This is GlenAllachie at full strength — Batch 11 poured straight from the cask, no water added.

    Expert's description

GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 11 is a Single Speyside Malt Scotch Whisky, matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, red wine barriques and virgin oak casks, bottled at cask strength of 59.4%.

The Cask Strength series has become something of a signature since Billy Walker took over the distillery in 2017. Where the core range tells the story at a gentler strength, here you get the whisky exactly as it left the cask — no water added to tame the intensity.

Batch 11 builds on the sherry and virgin oak combination that has become GlenAllachie's trademark: Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks bring depth and sweetness, while red wine barriques and virgin oak casks add spice and structure. The result is a 10 year old malt that tastes well beyond its years.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Forest berries and sweet spices greet you first, quickly followed by cocoa powder and a hint of gingerbread. Orange peel adds a fresh edge, while heather honey ties it all together with floral sweetness.

    Palate

The sherry unfolds on the palate with the same forest-berry sweetness from the nose, this time closer to dark chocolate. Spices take over midway, and heather honey returns alongside a touch of orange peel.

    Finish

Long and spiced, with cocoa powder and a lingering sweetness from the gingerbread that stays with you well after the last sip.

    Item no.: 059763-615-184

Two whisky cultures, one glass. The Glover by Adelphi tells the story of Scotland and Japan through malt, fire and time, named after a Scotsman who helped open Japan to the world more than 150 years ago.

    Expert description

The Glover by Adelphi 6 Years is a Fusion of Japanese and Scotch Malt Whisky, bottled at full cask strength of 57.6% ABV by independent whisky merchant Adelphi in collaboration with Fusion Whisky.

The series is named after Thomas Blake Glover, a Scottish businessman who played a central role in Japan's industrial opening to the West in the 19th century and is still celebrated in the country today. The Glover range bridges the two whisky cultures by uniting Scotch malt whisky with rare Japanese malt whiskies in a single bottle.

This 6-year-old expression combines malt whisky from Scottish distilleries with sought-after Japanese spirit, creating a whisky that spans two traditions without sacrificing the character of either.

The release is limited to 460 bottles, making it a rare opportunity to taste this crossover between two whisky worlds.

    Tasting notes

  • Black Bull Kyloe Peated Finish bottle with dark label
    Item no.: 22227555-774853

Same herd, but this one stood closer to the fire. Kyloe Peated Finish takes the malt-led blend and rests it in casks that once held peated whisky — the result smells of outdoors.

    Expert description

Black Bull Kyloe Peated Finish is a Blended Scotch Whisky bottled at 50% without chill filtration.

The release builds on the same malt-dominated base blend as standard Kyloe, then adds a finishing period in casks that carry peat smoke. It is not a blend of peated spirit from the ground up, but a blend where smoke is applied at the end. The method gives a drier, ashier smoke than the oily peat associated with the southern Islay malts.

Duncan Taylor has kept the 50% and the decision to skip chill filtration, and it shows in the texture. The smoke has body to rest on rather than standing alone.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Pale gold with a dry, smoked aroma. Dark malt, green apples and brown sugar sit beneath the smoke.

    Palate

Heavily smoked, yet creamy and layered. Salted nuts, citrus and a balanced sweetness that keeps the peat in check.

    Finish

Long and warm, both salty and sweet, with apple, cinnamon and clove and a clear smoky trace at the end.

A peated finish means the whisky has rested in casks that previously held peated whisky. The cask gives back its remaining peat character, which is why the smoke here reads drier than in whisky distilled from peated malt.

    Investment potential

This release is assessed to have medium investment potential, largely due to 19 years of maturation on just two Madeira casks and a limited bottle count. This is a general assessment based on available information about rarity and demand, not a guarantee of future value growth.

    Did you know?

Madeira casks were historically popular for whisky maturation because the fortified wine from Madeira held up well during long sea voyages — a tradition that today lives on as a sought-after but rare cask type.

    Item no.: 059763-615-161

Barbaresco casks are a rare sight in Scottish warehouses. This 12-year-old is a small experiment where Italian red wine meets Highland malt.

    The expert's description

Edradour 2011/2023 Barbaresco Casks 12 years old is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in 1st fill Barbaresco hogsheads and bottled at 48.2%.

The whisky was distilled in March 2011 and matured for 12 years across eight 1st fill Barbaresco casks, numbers 51 to 58, before being bottled in July 2023. The Italian red wine has left a tannic, almost wine-like character in the whisky, which contrasts with Edradour's usually light and floral style. 2,921 bottles were released.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Red cherries and dried rose petals, with a faintly tannic undercurrent from the wine cask and a touch of fresh malt.

    Palate

Juicy red berries meet a light tannic grip, while the malt keeps a soft, honeyed base beneath the wine's intensity.

    Finish

Medium length with dry tannins, a touch of pepper and a finish of dark cherries.

    Item no.: 059763-615-160

There's a quiet confidence to a whisky that's been allowed to rest for 21 years in a single sherry cask. No rush, no shortcuts — just time and good wood.

    The expert's description

Edradour 2001/2023 Oloroso Sherry Butt 21 years old is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in a refill ex-bourbon hogshead and Oloroso sherry butt and bottled at 52.1%.

The whisky was distilled in 2001 and matured for 21 years, split across cask no. 2413, 2414 and 2504, before being bottled in July 2023. The Oloroso sherry has given the whisky a deep, reddish-brown colour and a rich, nutty sweetness that balances Edradour's light, unpeated character. With 1,919 bottles, this is one of the rarer releases from the distillery's core range.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Raisins, walnut and a hint of orange peel sit over a soft malt aroma, with a deep, sherry-dark sweetness underneath.

    Palate

Rich and rounded with dried apricot, dark chocolate and a lightly spiced oak. The sherry gives the whisky body without ever drowning out the malt's character.

    Finish

Long and warm with lingering notes of dark caramel, walnut shell and a dry, elegant finish.

On the shore of the Sound of Islay, Bunnahabhain lets time do the work, while the tide between Islay and Jura pulls past the end of the single-track road.

Please note: there is rust and scuffing on the tube and on the bottle's label.

    Expert's Description

Bunnahabhain 2013/2023 Signatory Vintage 9 Years Old is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in a 1st fill Pinot Noir red wine butt and bottled at 46%.

Signatory Vintage has bought casks from distilleries across Scotland since 1988 and bottled them under its own name, without dressing the spirit up as something it isn't. This Bunnahabhain from 2013 was drawn from two casks, #13 and #15, and spent nine years pulling colour and spice from the red wine wood before being bottled in March 2023.

The base spirit is the distillery's rarer peated make, known as Staoisha, which gives the whisky an extra layer of smoke beneath the wine cask's fruity sweetness – a combination you don't see from Islay every day.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Red berries and a tart wine sweetness meet a faint peaty smoke in the background, tied together by a hint of fresh bread.

    Palate

Juicy and full with cherry and blackcurrant, sliding into a warm, spiced smoke and a touch of dark chocolate.

    Finish

Medium length and slightly dry, with the smoke the last thing to fade.

Bunnahabhain's water travels a fair few kilometres from Loch Staoisha, and it's this loch that gives its name to the distillery's peated spirit – the very same spirit behind this bottle's extra smoky edge.

  • Benrinnes 2010 Signatory Vintage 12 year old Speyside Single Malt Whisky
    Item no.: 059763-615-156

An Oloroso Sherry Butt is a large cask — 500 litres of dry, nutty oak in no particular hurry. Twelve years in one of those, and the heavy Benrinnes spirit gets exactly the frame it deserves.

    The expert's description

Benrinnes 2010/2023 Signatory Vintage 12 years is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in a first fill Oloroso Sherry Butt and bottled at 46 %.

The cask was filled in September 2010 and emptied in 2023, yielding 234 bottles. The whisky is neither chill filtered nor coloured, and the 46 % was chosen so the sherry character stands clear without alcohol dominance.

Signatory buy casks from distilleries across Scotland and bottle under their own name. A first fill Oloroso butt is among the most expensive and most sought after casks in the trade, and it is rarely spent on a 12 year old — here it was.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Dried figs, walnut and orange peel. There is a dry, almost dusty sherry character typical of Oloroso rather than the sweeter sherry styles.

    Palate

Full bodied with raisin, dark rye bread and bitter orange. Nuts step forward in the middle, and a spiced draught of clove runs through it.

    Finish

Long and dry with walnut shell, dark chocolate and a pleasant bitterness.

A butt holds around 500 litres — twice as much as a hogshead. The larger the cask, the less surface area per litre of whisky, which is why a butt works more slowly and more subtly than small wood.
