Batch 05 in the award-winning Smoke & Sherry series from Fary Lochan is a bold and characterful Danish single malt, crafted with passion and precision in the heart of Jutland. Aged for 6 years and 8 months, this whisky has matured in two 1st fill bourbon casks, one 2nd fill Oloroso sherry cask, and one 2nd fill PX sherry cask – a combination that delivers depth and complexity.
The spirit is made from Danish barley malt smoked over fresh nettles, giving it a mild, green and herbal smoke profile that’s unique to Fary Lochan. Bottled at 50.3% ABV and non-chill filtered, it retains its natural oils and full-bodied texture. Only 227 bottles have been released – a true small batch experience.
The flavour profile offers rich, oily sweetness from the sherry casks, balanced by notes of vanilla, dried fruit, malt, caramel and cane sugar. The smoke is subtle and elegant with a green touch, adding a distinctive signature. The finish is soft, rounded and pleasantly lingering.
Previous releases in the Smoke & Sherry series have earned high praise – including gold at The Fifty Best in New York – and sold out in record time. Fettercairn 12 Years Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Fettercairn, located at the foot of Scotland's Cairngorms, was established in 1824 by Alexander Ramsay. Crystal clear mountain water is not only used as an ingredient in the whiskies, the distillery also uses it to cool the copper in the stills.
From their unique cooling ring, the crystal clear mountain water flows down the outside of the stills, creating more condensation inside and ensuring only the finest vapors rise to the top, ready to be collected.

Local history tells us that when the Fettercairn dunnage warehouse was built, the builders put an entire bottle of whisky into the stone walls as a good luck charm. On September 20, 1861, the Ramsay Arms (still the village pub) was visited by Queen Victoria and her husband Albert, who had sneaked away from nearby Balmoral. All in secret, they enjoyed drinks and a meal. Later, the villagers erected a monument to commemorate the visit, the impressive arch still stands in the center of the village.
