Fettercairn 12 Years Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Fettercairn, located at the foot of Scotland's Cairngorms, was established in 1824 by Alexander Ramsay. Crystal clear mountain water is not only used as an ingredient in the whiskies, the distillery also uses it to cool the copper in the stills.
From their unique cooling ring, the crystal clear mountain water flows down the outside of the stills, creating more condensation inside and ensuring only the finest vapors rise to the top, ready to be collected.

Local history tells us that when the Fettercairn dunnage warehouse was built, the builders put an entire bottle of whisky into the stone walls as a good luck charm. On September 20, 1861, the Ramsay Arms (still the village pub) was visited by Queen Victoria and her husband Albert, who had sneaked away from nearby Balmoral. All in secret, they enjoyed drinks and a meal. Later, the villagers erected a monument to commemorate the visit, the impressive arch still stands in the center of the village.
