Rum is made from cane sugar and water. This mixture is fermented to form a liquid containing 8-10% alcohol. It is then distilled to an alcohol percentage of up to 90% and then stored on oak barrels. Once the rum has been stored, it is diluted to 40-43% alcohol and filled into bottles.

Cihuatán Alux Limited Edition rum is a special and rare spirit that honors the ancient Maya civilization. Inspired by the Maya legend of the Aluxes, the protective gods of the land, this rum captures the essence of the sacred ingredients the Maya held in the highest regard: corn and cacao. The Maya believed that the Aluxes resided in their corn and cacao fields, as these were considered the most divine and essential gifts from the earth. Clément is one of the most iconic producers of rhum agricole from Martinique, and this white rum is a true classic within the category. The distillery was founded in 1887 by Homère Clément at the historic sugar plantation Habitation Clément in Le François, and ever since, the house has set the standard for rhum agricole worldwide.
Unlike traditional rum made from molasses, Clément Rhum Agricole is distilled from freshly pressed sugarcane juice. This results in a fresh and characterful profile with notes of sugarcane, citrus, green apples, and light herbal nuances.
