First matured in the tropical climate of Barbados, it is then aged in French oak barrels in Cognac, France. The uniqueness of this version lies in its additional aging in Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks, which imparts an intense sweetness, creating a bold, rich, and sweet taste on the palate. Notes of coconut, chocolate, prunes, and coffee are present. The aroma is elegant, with hints of sweet and spicy scents of coconut and vanilla, followed by honeyed notes, English Christmas cake, tobacco, and banana. This is a well-rounded, balanced rum that appeals to connoisseurs and fans of complex, sweet rum experiences.
