  • Famous Grouse The Black Grouse Alpha Edition No 1 Blended Scotch Whisky bottle
    Item no.: 22227865425-16

Alpha Edition was made for airport shelves and disappeared from them again. It is the heaviest of the Black Grouse family, the same starting point with every dial that has anything to do with smoke turned up a notch.

    The expert description

Famous Grouse The Black Grouse Alpha Edition No 1 is a Blended Scotch Whisky made with peated malt and bottled at 40%.

The release originally appeared as a travel retail exclusive and has since been discontinued. It builds on The Black Grouse, but where the original draws its smoke from a rare peated expression of Glenturret, Alpha Edition turns the volume up by letting peated Islay malt take up far more of the blend. The result is denser, darker and less compromising than anything else in the Grouse family.

Behind the smoke sit the malts that have defined the brand, Highland Park among them, bound together with grain whisky. The number on the label suggests more were planned for the series, but it is the first that has held on as a collector item.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Heavy bonfire smoke and soot, with seaweed and a touch of iodine underneath. The honey sweetness is still there, but you have to look for it.

    Palate

Powerful and oily. Peat smoke, dark chocolate and toasted malt, while a syrupy sweetness holds the whole thing together.

    Finish

Long, dry and ashy with pepper and a final salted note.

    Specifications

Name: The Black Grouse Alpha Edition No 1
    Distillery: The Famous Grouse
    Region/Country: Scotland
    Type: Blended Scotch Whisky
    ABV: 40%

    Edition: Alpha Edition No 1
    EAN no.: 5010314095000

    Flavour profile

    Smoky · Peaty · Maritime · Sweet · Spiced

    Investment potential

Medium. The release is discontinued, was only ever sold in travel retail and will not be made again. It is also the heaviest bottling the brand has produced, which makes it interesting for anyone collecting the Grouse family in full.

    Did you know?

Travel retail has been the whisky industry laboratory for decades. Because airport shelves sit outside the ordinary distribution chain, producers could try heavier and stranger expressions there without risking the brand at home, and a number of the ones that worked later reached the regular trade.

  • Macallan Sienna 1824 Series Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky discontinued
    Item no.: 22227865445-51

Mahogany in the glass. Warm spices in the air. Macallan Sienna carries its colour with pride — not a choice, but a promise of what sherry oak can do when given time to leave its mark.

    Expert description

Macallan Sienna 1824 Series is a discontinued Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured exclusively in Spanish sherry casks — European and American oak — and bottled at 43%. It was part of Macallan's 1824 Collection, which used colour as a guide to intensity: Gold, Amber, Sienna and Ruby. Sienna was the third most intense expression in the series, and its deep terracotta hue reflects a long and richly sherried life in cask.

The collection has been discontinued, making Sienna a sought-after bottle for collectors and Macallan enthusiasts. The powerful sherry-driven flavour notes are undeniable.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Dried fruit and orange marmalade with prunes, dates and dark chocolate. Rich sherry with cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of smoke.

    Palate

Full and sweet with fig, raisin and caramelised orange. Warm spice with ginger, clove and dry oak.

    Finish

Long and warm with dark chocolate, dried fruits and a soft oak bitterness. Sherry sweetness carries through to the last.

    Specifications

    Edition: 1824 Series (discontinued)
    EAN no.: 5010314101206

    Flavour profile

    Sherry-matured · Rich dark fruit · Spiced · Discontinued collector's bottle

    Investment potential

High — Macallan Sienna is from the discontinued 1824 Series and is no longer available from the distillery. Collectors and Macallan enthusiasts actively seek these bottles, and secondary market prices reflect the series' rarity and prestige.

    Did you know?

The 1824 Series used the colour of the whisky as a sort of menu for intensity — no age statement, just colour as the guide. Sienna represented the second deepest shade in the series, and the colour came entirely from sherry cask maturation, not from colouring.

  • Bottle of Nyborg Distillery Bourbon Cask Organic Danish Single Malt Whisky from the Ørbæk era, 59%
    Item no.: 22227865446-52

Bourbon cask. Organic grain. 59%. From Ørbæk Brewery, when it all began. Here is Nyborg Distillery in its purest form – clean and unspoiled by anything but time and wood.

    Expert description

Nyborg Distillery Bourbon Cask is an organic Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 59% cask strength from the distillery's early production at Ørbæk Brewery. The organic Funen distillate matured on a bourbon cask of American white oak, contributing classic vanilla, caramel and grain roundness. A bourbon cask is the world's most classic cask type and gives the most direct expression of the distillate's character – here the organic grain from Ørbæk. A bottling that captures the essence of the Ørbæk era in one bottle.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Classic bourbon cask character with vanilla, caramel and wheat grain. Clean and clear organic base from the organic Funen distillate. A fresh, appealing nose.

    Palate

Round and full-bodied at 59% with the bourbon cask's classic sweetness as the centrepiece. Vanilla and butter biscuit with an underlying grain richness. Approachable and well-defined.

    Finish

Medium long with lingering vanilla and a clean, slightly dry oak close.

    Investment potential

High. Ørbæk-era bourbon bottlings from Nyborg Distillery are historically standalone productions. The distillery no longer produces at Ørbæk, and these classic bourbon cask bottlings represent a definitively closed chapter.

    Did you know?

Under US law, bourbon casks may only be used to produce bourbon once. This makes used bourbon casks the most accessible and affordable casks for Scottish and American distilleries. For small Danish distilleries like Nyborg Distillery, used bourbon casks were often the first casks they acquired and a central part of the very earliest bottlings.

    Item no.: 22227865446-51

Funen meets Islay. An organic distillate from Ørbæk Brewery finished on a Laphroaig cask – perhaps the most unlikely combination in Danish whisky history. The result: 69%, raw and smoky.

    Expert description

Nyborg Distillery Laphroaig Finish is an organic Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 69% cask strength from the distillery's early Ørbæk era. The organic Funen distillate was finished on a cask from Laphroaig – one of Islay's most famous heavily peated distilleries. The finish adds smoke, peat and iodine to the otherwise clean and organic Danish distillate. The extreme ABV of 69% is uncut and demands attention. A bottling that is unique in every respect – and will never be repeated.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Powerful smoke and peat from the Laphroaig cask. Iodine and coastline. Beneath the smoke the organic distillate is present with grain and a light sweetness.

    Palate

Intense and explosive at 69% – water is strictly necessary. Smoke and peat dominate, but there is an underlying Danish organic sweetness behind the Islay character. Iodine and sea salt.

    Finish

Very long and persistently smoky with an iodine-medicinal close typical of Laphroaig. A finish that lingers.

High. The combination of Danish organic Ørbæk production and a Laphroaig finish at 69% is unique and unrepeatable. These early Ørbæk bottlings are no longer produced and form part of the birth and infancy of Danish whisky.

    Did you know?

Laphroaig on Islay is famous for its heavily peated whisky with characteristic iodine and creosote notes. The distillery holds a Royal Warrant from King Charles III. That a Danish organic distillate ended up on a Laphroaig cask is so unexpected it borders on the absurd – but the result speaks for itself.

Today, Nyborg Distillery produces under the Isle of Fionia brand in the historic DSB train depot in Nyborg – but these Ørbæk bottlings represent roots and beginnings. The whisky has been matured and finished on sherry casks, which add sweetness and depth to the organic distillate. A bottling with historical value for the Nyborg Distillery collector universe.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Ripe sherry sweetness with dried fruit, vanilla and a gentle nutty character. The organic distillate provides a clean, fresh base beneath the cask richness.

    Palate

Machir Bay is the beach right outside the distillery's door — wide, white and forever whipped by the Atlantic. The whisky that carries its name is Kilchoman's public face: fresh, smoky and unmistakably Islay.

    Expert's description

Kilchoman Machir Bay is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46 %.

Machir Bay became Kilchoman's standing standard release in 2012 and today represents the house style better than any other bottle. It rests mainly on ex-bourbon casks, with a portion of the casks receiving a finishing period in used sherry casks, giving a balance of citrus freshness, sweetness and spice.

Kilchoman was founded in 2005 as Scotland's only true farm distillery, where barley is grown, floor malted, distilled and bottled in the same place — a philosophy that still runs through even the most accessible release in the range.

    Item no.: 22227865434-23

At the far end of the Mull of Kintyre, where the Atlantic rolls into Campbeltown Loch, sits a distillery that still does things the old way. No shortcuts, no outsourcing - just barley, fire and patience.

    Expert Description

Springbank 15 Year Old is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Springbank, predominantly matured in sherry casks and bottled at 46%.

Springbank is the only distillery in Scotland that handles the entire process from malting to bottling itself, on the same site, by the same hands. The barley is floor malted, dried over the distillery's own kiln and distilled 2.5 times: part of the spirit is distilled twice, another part three times, and the two streams are blended afterwards. The 15 year old is a permanent fixture of the core range, and its predominantly sherry-cask maturation gives the whisky a dark, rich colour and a fullness of dried fruit and spice. The distillery was founded in 1828 and remains family owned by the Mitchell family, making it Scotland's oldest independent distillery.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dark chocolate, demerara sugar and Christmas cake meet toasted almonds and a hint of charred oak, with a whisper of rope and sea spray underneath.

    Palate

Creamy and full-bodied with raisin bread, figs, marzipan and Brazil nuts. The sweetness is kept in check by a light smoke note and a touch of pepper.

    Finish

Long and warm, with sherry and oak lingering well after the last sip, rounded off by a faint, peaty smoke.

  • Blair Athol Flora & Fauna bottle with otter on the label
    Item no.: 22227865365-20

An otter on the label and a distillery few people could name. The Flora & Fauna series was the first attempt to give the workhorses behind the big blends a bottle of their own.

    Expert description

Blair Athol 12 Years Flora & Fauna is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled at 43%.

The series was launched in 1991 by United Distillers, today Diageo, and gathered 26 different single malts from distilleries that otherwise supplied only blends. The aim was to show the differences between Scotland's whisky regions. Most were bottled at 43%, while a few appeared at cask strength or in wooden boxes.

Blair Athol in Pitlochry has been the spirit's home since 1798. The style is heavy and nutty with a syrupy sweetness that makes the whisky recognisable among the other Highland malts in the series.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Malty sweetness with raisin, brown sugar and a nutty, almost meaty note underneath.

    Palate

Full and syrupy with dried fruit, dark sugar and a stroke of spice. There is real weight through the middle.

The name Storm was not chosen at random. Skye takes a battering from westerly wind and rain for much of the year, and this particular bottle still carries the older label from when it first landed on Danish shelves.

Note: This bottle carries an older label version of Talisker Storm, from before the current design was introduced.

    Expert Description

Talisker Storm is a no-age-statement Isle of Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured in selected refill and toasted American oak casks and bottled at 45.8%. It was developed as a bolder, more maritime sibling to the 10 Year Old.

This particular bottle carries the older label, but the liquid inside is identical to the Storm sold today - a whisky built to weather both salt water and rough weather, figuratively speaking.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The nose offers salt, lime and orange peel with a fresh fruitiness, and the smoke sits as a quiet background note rather than up front.

    Palate

The palate carries notes of spice and cream toffee, while the smoke stays discreet in the background and lets the sweetness speak first.

    Finish

The finish is medium length with a warm, lightly salty close and a trace of smoke drifting quietly away.

Wheated bourbon with roots to 1849 — softer than most, since the very first bottle.

    Expert description

Rebel Yell 80 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the brand's classic core expression, bottled at 40%. Rebel Yell was created in 1936 by Louisville's then-mayor Charles R. Farnsley to mark the 100th anniversary of the original Weller brand, with roots back to the Stitzel-Weller distillery of 1849. From the start, the brand used a wheated mash bill, giving it a softer, rounder character than a typical rye-based bourbon. After Stitzel-Weller closed in the early 1970s, the brand was acquired by Luxco, and since 2018 Rebel Yell has been distilled at the family's own distillery, Lux Row Distillers, in Bardstown, Kentucky.

    Tasting notes

Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a no-age-statement Tennessee Whiskey, bottled at 40%. Jack Daniel's Distillery was founded in 1866 by Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and is officially registered as America's first distillery. All production still happens on the same site, where the whiskey is filtered drop by drop through nearly 3 metres of sugar maple charcoal before going into new, charred oak barrels — the Lincoln County Process that defines Tennessee Whiskey.

The core of the recipe is a mash of corn, rye and malted barley, fermented, distilled and then filtered through the charcoal before resting in new, charred oak barrels. The result is the smoothness and round sweetness the brand is known for worldwide.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

The nose offers caramel, vanilla and a hint of banana, carried by the characteristic smoothness from the charcoal filtering.

  • Black Bottle 10 year old Old Version with vintage label
    Item no.: 22227865397-12

Some bottles become interesting because they disappeared. This version of Black Bottle 10 Years was pulled from the shelves when the brand changed its clothes — and only afterwards did people realise what they had been keeping.

    Expert description

Black Bottle 10 Years Old Version is a Blended Scotch Whisky bottled at 40%.

Old Version refers to the bottle shape and label used before the brand relaunch. Both the packaging and the age statement have been retired, and the whisky is no longer produced in this form. The blend is built on Islay malt as its load-bearing element, joined by malt from the rest of Scotland and grain whisky.

The colour is rich and golden, and the profile leans on peat smoke and honey rather than cask spice. Ten years give the blend the roundness that keeps the smoke from ever standing alone.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Light, fresh and fruity on first approach, with unmistakable hints of peat underneath. Baked apple and a waxy grain note follow.

    Palate

A gentle honey sweetness fills the palate before the signature smoke settles over everything. Malt, dried fruit and a touch of peppery warmth.

    Finish

  • Clynelish 14 years Coastal Highland single malt bottle in golden light
    Item no.: 22227865392-37

There is a texture in Clynelish that nobody quite explains. Candle wax, beeswax, something that coats the tongue and stays there. Whisky people simply call it waxy and leave it at that.

    Expert description

Clynelish 14 years is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in oak casks and bottled at 46%.

The distillery sits on the coast in Sutherland, where the original Clynelish was founded in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford. When a new distillery was built across the road in 1968, the old one was renamed Brora and closed in 1983. Clynelish is today one of the main ingredients in Johnnie Walker, but the 14 year old is where the distillery character stands at its clearest: maritime, waxy and with a freshness you do not find further south.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Citrus peel and sea salt first, then wax, vanilla and heather. A cool, mineral note runs underneath it all and points straight at the coast.

    Palate

Creamy and lively. Ripe fruit, malt, honey and a suggestion of smoke, carried by that distinctive waxy mouthfeel. The 46% gives bite without tightening things up.

    Finish

Long, dry and elegant, with maritime nuances, pepper and a mild spiced warmth fading slowly.

    Did you know?

The waxy character is unintentional. It comes from feed pipes at Clynelish that are not fully cleaned, letting an oily layer build up and mark the spirit. When the system was thoroughly scrubbed in the 1970s the wax vanished, and it took years to coax it back.
