Ardmore Highland Single Malt was founded by one of Scotland's most famous whisky families, who to this day still believe in traditional distilling methods, for example, Ardmore's aromatic expression comes from the smoke from the burnt peat used to dry the barley.

The traditional method is also at the heart of the maturation process, where traditional casks are fermented twice, first in normal oak casks and then in smaller handmade 'Quater Cask' which adds a unique depth and smoothness to the whisky (this was the standard maturation method in the 19th century). Finally, Ardmore Highland Single Malt is barrier filtered, which preserves the natural flavors, unlike the more common mechanical filtration.
