  • Talisker 11 Year Old Special Release 2022 bottle against a maritime wave pattern
    Item no.: 035689-9321

Skye rarely goes gentle in November, and Talisker built its 11 Year Old Special Release 2022 for exactly that kind of weather - cask strength, younger and rawer than its older siblings, but carrying every bit of the smoke and salt the island is known for.

    Expert Description

Talisker 11 Year Old Special Release 2022 is an Isle of Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured across a mix of American and European oak casks and bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.1%. It belongs to Diageo's annual Special Releases programme, in which distilleries such as Talisker, Lagavulin and Mortlach each contribute an expression that steps outside the core range.

The oak brings a double layer of sweetness and tannin, while the younger age keeps Talisker's trademark pepper and smoke sharp and direct. This is the distillery showing its rawer side rather than its polished one, built for an evening that calls for a bit more intensity in the glass.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The nose opens with salty sea air and peat smoke, quickly followed by citrus oil and a touch of mint. Underneath sit vanilla, green apple and toasted oak, and the high strength lifts the aromas without turning sharp.

    Palate

The palate is rich and lively, with seaweed, sea spray and fresh lemon sitting alongside ripe fruit and vanilla. Talisker's pepper arrives quickly and builds into a chilli kick, while the casks add sweetness and a light oak bitterness underneath it all.

    Finish

The finish is long and warm, with smoke, pepper and a salty minerality that lingers well after the last sip.

  • Talisker Molten Seas 14 Year Old bottle with a volcanic rock background
    Item no.: 055333-9914

Skye still has cliffs of basalt that were once molten lava. Talisker took exactly those rocks and used them to toast the casks its 14 year old Molten Seas spent its final months in - a whisky that quite literally carries the island's volcanic past forward.

    Expert Description

Talisker Special Release 2025 Molten Seas 14 Year Old is an Isle of Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky, first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in new American oak toasted with heat from volcanic basalt rock from Skye, bottled at a natural cask strength of 53.9%.

The toasting is done by heating the rocks to around 2000 degrees and placing them over the casks, giving the wood a deeper caramelisation than standard toasting achieves. The result keeps Talisker's maritime core intact while adding an extra layer of warmth and wood sweetness from the unusual cask treatment.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The nose is mellow and forward with a dry edge, a light prickle and maritime, mineral notes. With a little air it turns fruitier with a hint of white grape, while a vegetal note of parsnip appears in the background.

    Palate

The palate is creamy in texture and pleasingly mellow, yet distinctly sweet and salty at the same time. The pepper builds in a controlled way, with a trace of smoky peat sitting underneath it all.

    Finish

The finish is long and drying, with a light peppery edge and a faint smoky peat that lingers.

  • Tamnavulin 1991 Old Malt Cask 27 Year Old Hunter Laing bottle
    Item no.: 22244222554-225

Twenty-seven years after distillation, a single refill hogshead remains the only witness. Cask No. HL16113 held a mature, rounded Tamnavulin that Hunter Laing chose to let stand entirely on its own.

    Expert description

Tamnavulin 1991/2019 Old Malt Cask 27 Year Old is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky, matured in a refill hogshead and bottled at 48.6%.

The whisky is bottled under Old Malt Cask, a series originally created by Douglas Laing in 1998 and continued since 2013 by Hunter Laing & Co., after Stewart Laing left the family business and set up his own house together with sons Scott and Andrew. The series is known for a consistent strength around 50% and for letting each individual cask's character speak for itself.

This release comes from Cask No. HL16113, a refill hogshead that held the whisky from distillation in 1991 to bottling in 2019 - 27 years in total. Only 308 bottles were drawn from this single cask, with no chill-filtration and no added colour, so what reaches the glass is the pure, time-worn character of this particular cask.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Ripe apple and a trace of beeswax meet gentle butter and a muted note of old oak.

    Palate

Round and oily, with notes of honey cake, dried apricot and a warm streak of clove spice.

    Finish

Long and dry, closing on a hint of walnut and a lightly tannic oak from the many years of maturation.

Fifteen years on American oak and a final chapter on a single Malaga wine cask. Cooper's Choice has captured Tamnavulin in a rare, sun-warmed expression sweetened by Andalusia's dessert wine.

    Expert description

Tamnavulin Distillery 2009/2024 Cooper's Choice 15 Year Old Malaga Cask is a Single Speyside Scotch Whisky, matured in American oak casks with a finishing period in a Malaga wine cask and bottled at 50%.

Cooper's Choice is one of Scotland's most respected independent bottling series, created by The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, founded in 1992 by Brian Crook after many years as export director for one of Scotland's most renowned distilleries. The series is known for seeking out rare, characterful single cask releases from across the country.

This expression was distilled at Tamnavulin in 2009 and bottled in 2024, having first matured in American oak casks before finishing in a single Malaga wine cask, Cask No. 0772. Malaga is a sweet, sun-ripened Spanish dessert wine, and the cask lends the whisky a distinctive winey sweetness and depth not found in the distillery's standard core range.

Forty-five years in the dark. Distilled in 1975, long before most of us tasted our first whisky, and only bottled in 2020 - this Teaninich is a piece of liquid Scottish history.

    Expert description

Teaninich The Black Series 1975 from Xtra Old Particular is a 45 year old Single Highland Malt Whisky at 41.6%, bottled from a single cask by Scottish independent bottler Douglas Laing.

The Black Series is part of Douglas Laing's Xtra Old Particular range, reserved for whiskies over 30 years old, where each cask is personally selected by Fred and Cara Laing. Tasting notes

    Item no.: 22227865438-18721

Thirty-five years in a refill butt. A whisky distilled before Signatory Vintage even existed, bottled to celebrate the company's 30 years as an independent bottler.

    Expert description

Teaninich 1983/2018 is a 35-year-old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled on 7 December 1983 and bottled on 12 December 2018 by Signatory Vintage at 57.5% ABV.

The whisky comes from a refill butt, cask no. 8070, and was bottled in just 575 bottles as part of Signatory Vintage's 30th anniversary celebrations. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured, and the many years of maturation in the reused cask have given the spirit great depth without letting oak dominate.

At 35 years old, this Teaninich ranks among the rarest releases from the distillery, where most official bottlings are typically far younger.

The whisky comes from cask no. 303668 and was selected by Adelphi's longstanding partners, manager Alex Bruce and whisky writer Charles MacLean, who together taste numerous casks for every single release allowed to carry the Adelphi name. This particular release was made specifically as Adelphi Club Denmark for Whisky.dk and bottled in 306 bottles, neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

    Item no.: 059763-615-53-2025

Port wine's dark sweetness has had three years to sink into an already 21 year old blend. The result is deep, jammy and spiced.

    Expert description

The Antiquary 21 Year Old Port Cask is a blended Scotch whisky matured for at least 21 years and then married in Port Casks, casks that previously held tawny Port wine, before bottling at 40% ABV.

The Port casks come from the Symington family's estates in Portugal, and the whisky has been allowed to rest in them for up to three years after its long base maturation, giving it a markedly deeper and sweeter profile than the house's standard 21 year old.

The Antiquary was founded by the Hardie brothers in Edinburgh and is now owned by Tomatin Distillery Co, which relaunched the brand in 2024 with a new trio of blends, of which this Port Cask expression is one.

    Tasting notes

The name doesn't lie: this blend carries a notably higher malt content than most blended whiskies, giving it a body closer to a single malt.

    Expert Description

The Blend of Nikka Maltbase is a Japanese Whisky, bottled at 45%.

As the name suggests, the blend has an unusually high proportion of malt whisky from Nikka's Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, topped up with a smaller share of grain whisky. That delivers a deeper, more complex flavour than many other Japanese blends while keeping a round, approachable character.

  • The Brisbane by Adelphi 5 Year Old fusion malt whisky bottle
    Item no.: 22227865449-8076

Two continents, one glass. Australian malt meets Scotch heritage in a bottling that challenges the very definition of whisky.

    Expert description

The Brisbane by Adelphi is a 5 year old fusion of Australian and Scotch malt whisky, bottled at cask strength at 57.5% ABV by the independent Scottish bottler Adelphi.

A "fusion whisky" here means that whisky distilled in Australia has been blended with Scotch malt whisky from Glen Garioch and Glen Grant, two prominent Highland and Speyside distilleries, creating a bottling that bridges two whisky worlds on opposite sides of the globe.

Only 925 bottles of this fusion were produced, with no added colouring and no chill filtration, allowing the raw interplay between the Australian and Scotch components to come through in full.

Adelphi Distillery was founded in 1826 by the River Clyde in Glasgow, closed in the early 1900s, but was revived in 1993 as an independent bottler when a grandson of a former owner brought back the name with a philosophy of bottling only the very best casks.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Tropical fruit and eucalyptus from the Australian component meet dry Highland malt and a touch of hay.

    Palate

Bold and cask-strength driven, with honey, toasted nuts and an exotic fruit sweetness unusual for Scotch whisky.

    Finish

Long, warm and spiced, with a final hint of citrus peel and wood.

Some bottles are a whisky. This one is a piece of distillery history, wrapped in handcrafted woodwork and built around four cask types, one of which is rare enough that it barely exists in any other Scotch distillery's stock. The GlenAllachie 1990 Billy Walker spent 35 years on its way to the bottle, and it shows in every single measure.

    Expert's description

The GlenAllachie 1990 Billy Walker is a 35 year old Single Speyside Malt Scotch Whisky, matured across four different cask types and bottled at cask strength of 50.2%.

The name GlenAllachie derives from the Gaelic for "valley of the rocks," and this release is one of the most ambitious and luxurious the distillery has ever put its name to. The whisky spent its 35 years split across Mizunara virgin oak, American virgin oak, Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximénez Sherry - a combination that demands both patience and a sharp sense of when each individual cask has given its best.

The Mizunara oak comes from trees around 200 years old and is used extremely rarely in Scotch whisky production, owing to its scarcity and the particular demands the wood places during processing. Combined with two sherry casks and American virgin oak, the result is a whisky with an intense, rich mahogany colour and a depth that matches its age in full.

The whisky is both non-chill filtered and free of added colour, presented in its most original form.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Mocha and crystallised cinnamon meet treacle tart, cocoa and toasted hazelnuts, with pineapple, ginger and heather honey lingering in the background.

    Palate

Cocoa and baking spice unfold alongside chocolate-coated raisins, coconut and brandied fruits, underpinned by sandalwood and vanilla.

    Finish

Long and rich, with dried red fruits and a lingering sweetness of honeycomb that stays with you long after the last measure.

    Investment potential

High. With 35 years behind it, an extremely rare Mizunara maturation and a handcrafted wooden box, this is the distillery's most ambitious bottling - a whisky that speaks directly to the serious collector rather than everyday drinking.

    Did you know?

The bottle arrives in a bespoke, handcrafted wooden box inspired by the character of Mizunara wood and traditional Japanese Kumiko woodworking. The box is decorated with four different geometric patterns, one for each of the four cask types the whisky was matured in - a craft that matches the whisky's own complexity.

Two whisky cultures, one glass. The Glover by Adelphi tells the story of Scotland and Japan through malt, fire and time, named after a Scotsman who helped open Japan to the world more than 150 years ago.

    Expert description

The Glover by Adelphi 6 Years is a Fusion of Japanese and Scotch Malt Whisky, bottled at full cask strength of 57.6% ABV by independent whisky merchant Adelphi in collaboration with Fusion Whisky.

The series is named after Thomas Blake Glover, a Scottish businessman who played a central role in Japan's industrial opening to the West in the 19th century and is still celebrated in the country today. The Glover range bridges the two whisky cultures by uniting Scotch malt whisky with rare Japanese malt whiskies in a single bottle.

This 6-year-old expression combines malt whisky from Scottish distilleries with sought-after Japanese spirit, creating a whisky that spans two traditions without sacrificing the character of either.

The release is limited to 460 bottles, making it a rare opportunity to taste this crossover between two whisky worlds.

  • The London Distillery English Rye Whiskey LV-1767 bottle
    Item no.: 22227865458-8850

Under a railway arch in Bermondsey, rye whiskey was distilled in London for the first time in over a hundred years. LV-1767 is the result: a small, hand-counted run of bottles named after a distilling dream from 1767 that never quite happened - until now.

    Expert's Description

The London Distillery English Rye Whiskey LV-1767 Edition is an English rye whiskey matured in English oak casks and bottled at 54.3% ABV.

The name LV-1767 refers to the Lea Valley Distillery, founded in 1767 and closed in 1903 - until then the last place in London where whisky was distilled. When The London Distillery Company bottled its first rye whiskey in 2018, it marked the first time in more than a hundred years that London could again claim a finished whiskey of its own. The rye was double distilled and filled into new English oak casks for four years, from 2014 to 2018.

Only 251 bottles of this first release exist, each one individually numbered. The distillery, based in a railway arch on Druid Street in Bermondsey, went into administration in 2020 but was revived under new ownership in 2025 - making early releases like this one a small, closed chapter in English whiskey history.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dark chocolate and roasted coffee meet a spiced sweetness of cinnamon, stewed peaches and a touch of beeswax.

    Palate

Full-bodied and spicy, with rye's characteristic peppery bite carried by the same cinnamon and stone-fruit sweetness found on the nose.

    Finish

Long and dry, with white pepper, dark cherry and a late hint of macadamia nut.

Spicy · Roasted · Stone fruit · Peppery

    Investment Potential

Medium. Only 251 numbered bottles from the distillery's very first release, and the distillery itself stood idle for years after going into administration before finding new owners. That combination of low bottle count and an interrupted production history makes this an interesting bottle for collectors of English whisky.

    Did You Know?

The rye for LV-1767 was double distilled rather than single distilled, unlike most American rye whiskeys - a method borrowed from Scotch and Irish tradition that yields a cleaner, more fruit-driven spirit.

2020. A good year for rye in Thy. The Whisky Trail chose to bottle it and put a year on it. Here is the result – a vintage rye whisky from one of Denmark's most locally rooted distilleries.

    Expert description

The Whisky Trail Thy Whisky 2020 Vintage is a Danish Rye Whisky bottled at 50.5% in a 70 cl bottle. Distilled in 2020 from certified organic rye at Thy Whisky Distillery in northwest Jutland and bottled by The Whisky Trail – a respected bottler focused on exceptional distillate releases from Scandinavian and European distilleries. The 2020 vintage stamp places this as a specific harvest from that year.

Bottling with a year gives the whisky a traceability and identity anchor that anonymous releases lack. The rye from 2020 is now a whisky that speaks from a specific place and a specific time in Thy Whisky's history.

Vintage dating on whisky gives the buyer knowledge of when the grain was harvested and distilled. For single estate distilleries like Thy Whisky, which grow their own grain, this is particularly meaningful – the character of the crop varies year by year depending on weather and growing conditions.

    Item no.: 2222388-7447

In an old wireworks beside the River Derwent, surrounded by Derbyshire's UNESCO-listed industrial heritage, White Peak Distillery brews and distils a malt that borrows as much from brewing craft as from whisky tradition. This bottling was selected by Sukhinder Singh for Elixir Distillers' series The Whisky Trail and shows the distillery's style as it stood in its early years.

    Expert's Description

The Whisky Trail White Peak Distillery 2018 Vintage is a Single Malt English Whisky matured in first fill bourbon casks and bottled at 52.4%.

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by husband and wife Max and Claire Vaughan in the former Johnson & Nephew wireworks in Ambergate, within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The distillery ferments with both brewer's yeast from local brewer Thornbridge and traditional distiller's yeast, and part of the mash is made from lightly peated malt, giving the spirit a discreet smoky undertone beneath its fresh, fruity core. This bottling was distilled in 2018, bottled in 2025 from a small batch of four first fill bourbon casks, and is limited to 1,254 bottles.

The Whisky Trail is part of Elixir Trails, where Sukhinder Singh — co-founder of Elixir Distillers and one of the whisky world's most respected bottlers — selects single distilleries for their craft and character rather than name or hype.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The nose offers vanilla and soft caramel from the bourbon cask, backed by a faint smoky undertone and fresh apples.

    Palate

The palate is fruity with ripe pear and citrus peel, while a soft malty sweetness and a hint of smoke add depth without taking over.

    Finish

The finish is medium in length and spiced, with a final trace of wood smoke and vanilla powder.

One day there was no Thornæs 1st Release. Then there was. That is how it feels with the first bottles from a new distillery – and Thornæs Distillery in North Zealand's 1st Release is exactly that: the beginning.

    Expert description

    Tasting notes

    Nose

    Palate

50.9% gives body and weight. The early maturation is noticeable, but the distillate quality is clear – clean, fruity and with potential for what comes after in the distillery's future releases.

    Finish

First releases from new distilleries tend to rise in collector value over time – not necessarily because the whisky is the best bottle the distillery will ever make, but because they represent a unique historic moment. Thornæs 1st Release is the very concrete proof that one day, organic whisky started being distilled in North Zealand.

    Item no.: 22227865482-6234

Spelt and rye from the 2020 harvest in Thy. This vintage edition of Thy Whisky's spelt-rye combination is bottled at 50% – a clear step up in complexity from the Core Expressions edition.

    Expert description

Thy Spelt-Rye 2020 is a Danish Spelt Rye Whisky bottled at 50% in a 70 cl bottle. Distilled from certified organic spelt and rye from the 2020 season at Thy Whisky Distillery in Thy. The vintage stamp ties this expression to a specific harvest – and gives the opportunity to compare with other years. A rare chance to experience what spelt and rye from a specific year in northwest Jutland tastes like.

50% is a good balance point: strong enough to show the full complexity of the spelt-rye combination flavour profile, but approachable enough to enjoy without water.

  • Bottle of Thy Whisky Distillery Edition Cask No 292 Danish Single Malt 50 cl
    Item no.: 059763-615-469

Cask No. 292. One cask, one release. Thy Whisky Distillery Edition is the distillery's own single cask line – selected casks bottled directly and without compromise. This is it.

    Expert description

Thy Whisky Distillery Edition Cask No. 292 is a Danish Organic Single Malt Whisky bottled at cask strength 59.6% in a 50 cl bottle. Distilled from certified organic barley at Thy Whisky Distillery in northwest Jutland and bottled from a single cask – Cask No. 292. Distillery Edition designates the distillery's own line of single cask expressions: specially selected casks, bottled without dilution, without chill filtration and with natural colour.

59.6% is cask strength in the literal sense. It is the whisky as the cask made it. A little water opens it up and reveals a sweetness and depth that can otherwise hide behind the alcohol.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Full-bodied and rich with vanilla sweetness, dried fruit and light oak bitterness. The intensity from cask strength is clear but not sharp.

    Palate

Powerful malt with caramel, dried fruit, light pepper and good cask influence. Persistent and complex.

    Finish

Long with oak, warm spice and a light sweetness. Striking and satisfying.

  • Bottle of Thy Whisky No 14 Bøg beech-smoked Danish Single Malt Whisky 70 cl
    Item no.: 2222666554-88741

Number 14 in the series. And it is beech-smoked. Thy Whisky No 14 Bøg is the strongest edition of the distillery's beech-smoked single malt – bottled at cask strength and free from chill filtration.

    Expert description

Thy Whisky No 14 Bøg is a Danish Organic Single Malt Whisky bottled at 57.4% in a 70 cl bottle. Distilled from certified organic barley, malted and smoked with beech wood shavings in-house at Thy Whisky Distillery in northwest Jutland. No 14 is the numbered edition of the Bøg expression – with a markedly higher ABV than Core Expressions Bøg (50%) and with a concentration that brings the natural softness of the beech smoke out even more clearly.

57.4% is high, but the beech smoke is soft. The result is a fascinating contrast: a powerful distillate with a smoke character that is far from sharp or searing. Add a little water to open it up fully.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Intense beech smoke with honey, light nut and fresh forest in the background. Much more concentrated than Core Expressions Bøg.

    Palate

Rich and warm with beech smoke, malt sweetness and light herbal character. Adding water reveals deeper fruit nuances.

    Finish

Long with soft beech smoke and lingering warmth. Natural and harmonious.

  • Bottle of Thy Whisky Heritage Barley Imperial 2019 Danish Single Malt Whisky heritage barley
    Item no.: 222335-776

Imperial. A name that carries history with it. Imperial barley is one of the oldest known malting barleys – and Thy Whisky has used it to distil a single malt that focuses specifically on the grain's identity.

    Expert description

Thy Whisky Heritage Barley Imperial 2019 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 56% in a 70 cl bottle. Distilled in 2019 and matured at Thy Whisky Distillery in Thy. Imperial is a historic English malting barley variety with roots going back to the 19th century, which was once dominant in British beer and whisky production. Thy Whisky are pioneers in rediscovering these heritage barley varieties in Danish whisky – a series that includes KORNMOD, STOVT and Maltmod.

56% is a good strength for this type of heritage barley single malt – powerful enough to show the grain's character, but not excessive. A 2019 distillation provides a well-matured foundation.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Fresh and grain-expressive with honey, light herbs and a richer, more substantial malt dimension than modern malting barley. The Imperial character is clearly present.

    Palate

Full-bodied and grain-rich with sweet malt, light oak influence and a deeper, more substantial grain base than standard barley. Interesting and different.

    Finish

Moderately long with clean malt sweetness and light oak warmth. Solid and satisfying.

Imperial barley was developed in England in the 1820s and was for a long time the dominant malting barley variety in Britain. With the industrialisation of agriculture it disappeared in favour of higher-yielding but flavourwise more neutral modern varieties. Today Imperial is grown primarily for specialist use – and Thy Whisky is one of the first distilleries in Scandinavia to use it for whisky.

STOVT. An old Danish word for large and powerful. And yes – it suits the grain at the heart of this whisky. Thy Whisky No 13 STOVT is built on a historic Danish grain variety that was dominant in north Jutland agriculture before modern varieties took over.
