PC6 is one of the early Port Charlotte releases, from a time when the series was still finding its shape. Distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2007, it shows the young, raw power that set the direction for the house's peated style.
Expert description
Port Charlotte PC6 is a peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Bruichladdich, matured for 6 years and bottled at 61.6%.
PC6 is one of the early numbered Port Charlotte releases, peated to 40 ppm and distilled in 2001, shortly after Bruichladdich was revived as a distillery. The whisky was bottled in 2007 after 6 years of maturation, at a high natural cask strength of 61.6%.
The young age combined with the high strength gives a raw, intense peat character, setting it apart from later, more rounded Port Charlotte releases with longer maturation.
