  • Springbank 12 year old Cask Strength 2026 Single Campbeltown Malt Scotch Whisky 56,6%
    Item no.: 22266-34444

There's a smell in Campbeltown old whisky hands still call "the reek" - a mix of salt air, wet barley and oil from copper stills that have been running since 1828. Springbank is where that smell never left, and where every drop is still made under one roof, from grain to bottle.

    Expert's description

Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2026 is a Single Campbeltown Malt Scotch Whisky, fully matured in bourbon casks and bottled at cask strength at 56.6%.

This release is Batch 29 in Springbank's popular 12-year-old cask strength series, which has been released twice a year since 2010. Where earlier batches often carried a sherry influence, this one is matured entirely in bourbon casks - a deliberate choice that lets the grain, the salt and the light smoke speak for themselves without any sweetness from sherry wood.

The barley is malted on Springbank's own malting floors, distilled two-and-a-half times on the distillery's old-fashioned copper stills, and matured on site in Campbeltown. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured, so what's in the glass is exactly what came out of the cask.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Citrus peel and sea salt meet dried banana and granola, with a touch of honey and a whisper of smoke waiting in the background.

    Palate

Grapefruit and orange peel roll across the palate alongside white marshmallow and toffee, before black pepper and a touch of chilli take over.

    Finish

Cocoa, glazed cherries and salted pretzels linger long, with a dry, ashy smoke the last thing to fade.

    Investment Potential

Medium. Springbank has ranked among Scotland's most sought-after distilleries for years, and its twice-yearly cask strength batches are typically snapped up shortly after release. This batch, matured entirely in bourbon casks, stands apart from - and for some collectors is more interesting than - the sherry-led editions.

    Did You Know?

Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn - the distillery's three different whisky styles - are all made on exactly the same four stills. It's not three distilleries, just one, distilling, maturing and bottling differently depending on which style is up next.

    Item no.: 505956-807534-854

Port Pipes are a rare guest in Scotch whisky maturation, but when Springbank uses them, something deep and berry-laden comes out of it - a whisky carrying a clear imprint of Portugal's sun-ripened grapes.

    Expert Description

Springbank 13 Year Old Port Wood is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled in 1989, matured in Port Pipes and bottled at 54.2%.

The whisky was distilled in 1989 and bottled in February 2003 after 13 years of maturation, during which the Port Pipes added a deep berry sweetness and a reddish hue to Springbank's already oily, complex style. A total of 3,120 bottles were released of this edition.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dark forest berries and a hint of port sweetness meet Springbank's signature oily, salty backbone.

    Palate

Rich and berry-laden with cherry and blackcurrant playing against a lightly spiced, salty edge.

    Finish

Long and full, with the berry sweetness lingering alongside a dry, mineral close.

    Item no.: 22227865434-23

At the far end of the Mull of Kintyre, where the Atlantic rolls into Campbeltown Loch, sits a distillery that still does things the old way. No shortcuts, no outsourcing - just barley, fire and patience.

    Expert Description

Springbank 15 Year Old is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Springbank, predominantly matured in sherry casks and bottled at 46%.

Springbank is the only distillery in Scotland that handles the entire process from malting to bottling itself, on the same site, by the same hands. The barley is floor malted, dried over the distillery's own kiln and distilled 2.5 times: part of the spirit is distilled twice, another part three times, and the two streams are blended afterwards. The 15 year old is a permanent fixture of the core range, and its predominantly sherry-cask maturation gives the whisky a dark, rich colour and a fullness of dried fruit and spice. The distillery was founded in 1828 and remains family owned by the Mitchell family, making it Scotland's oldest independent distillery.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dark chocolate, demerara sugar and Christmas cake meet toasted almonds and a hint of charred oak, with a whisper of rope and sea spray underneath.

    Palate

Creamy and full-bodied with raisin bread, figs, marzipan and Brazil nuts. The sweetness is kept in check by a light smoke note and a touch of pepper.

    Finish

Long and warm, with sherry and oak lingering well after the last sip, rounded off by a faint, peaty smoke.

    Item no.: 5059288-96321

This is not just another old Springbank. It is the second release in the distillery's new Vintage Series, and this one has been resting in cask since 1994 - 31 years in a mix of bourbon, sherry and red wine casks have given it a depth normally reserved for whisky that never reaches the shelves at all.

    Expert Description

Springbank Vintage 1994 31 Year Old is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled in 1994, matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry and red wine casks and bottled at 45.1%.

Springbank is the distillery whisky nerds speak of in hushed tones, located in Campbeltown, the small whisky district that once had over 30 distilleries and today has only three left. Springbank is the only distillery in Scotland that still does everything itself, from floor malting to bottling. With only 1,180 bottles worldwide and a cask makeup of 80% bourbon, 10% sherry and 10% red wine, this is an early part of a series that could well become a lasting, sought-after annual tradition.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dried pineapple and mango meet ripe melon and honey, with Springbank's earthy, old-fashioned character and a hint of sandalwood underneath.

    Palate

Caramelised lemon meringue and a creamy texture reminiscent of custard. Mango and pineapple return, this time wrapped in oak and a touch of caramelised popcorn.

    Finish

Earthy and long, with coconut, fresh basil and a hint of characteristic Scottish heather moor.

Rundlets and Kilderkins are the small, forgotten cask sizes the whisky world rarely talks about - but they make a clear difference when Springbank puts them to use.

    Expert Description

Springbank Rundlets & Kilderkins 2001/2012 is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled in November 2001, bottled in January 2012 at 49.4%.

Rundlets and Kilderkins are small wooden casks with a capacity of around 68 litres, which were historically sold directly to the local gentry of Campbeltown. The small size of the casks ensures more contact between whisky and oak during maturation, accelerating the process so the whisky presents as more mature than its actual age suggests. A total of 9,000 bottles were released of this edition, unfiltered and without added colour.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Bold oak character meets dried fruit and a hint of spice from the accelerated cask contact.

    Palate

Full and oak-driven with caramel and spiced vanilla, carried by an oily Springbank structure.

    Finish

Local Barley is Springbank's tribute to the ground the whisky comes from - barley grown right in the Campbeltown area, rather than the standardised grain most distilleries use.

    Expert Description

Springbank Local Barley 10 Year Old 2022 Edition is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled from locally grown barley and bottled at full cask strength, 51.6%.

The Local Barley range is one of Springbank's most sought-after, because it uses barley grown specifically in the area surrounding Campbeltown, unlike the distillery's standard releases. Only a very limited quantity has reached the Danish market, and the whisky is bottled without filtration or added colour, so everything the ground and the cask have given it remains in the glass.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Fresh barley and a light earthiness meet a sweetness of honey and ripe apples, with a hint of sea salt behind it.

    Palate

    Expert Description

Springbank 25 Year Old Single Cask is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled in 1991, matured in a Hogshead cask and bottled at full cask strength, 49.7%.

The whisky comes from a single Hogshead cask, cask number 13/127-21 (414), and a full 25 years of maturation yielded just 130 bottles. As an independent bottling without filtration or added colour, this release shows Springbank in its most unfiltered and personal form.

    Tasting Notes

    Expert Description

Springbank 26 Year Old Single Cask Juuls 100th Anniversary is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled in October 1999, matured in a first-fill sherry cask and later a refill bourbon cask, and bottled at natural cask strength, 44.1%.

The whisky rested for 20 years in the sherry cask before being transferred in 2019 to the refill bourbon cask, where it matured for a further six years. The cask yielded exactly 108 bottles. The release marks the 100th anniversary of Juuls Vin & Spiritus, which has imported Springbank to the Danish market since 1926, and was first presented at an anniversary tasting in January 2026.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dried figs, raisins and a touch of sherry sweetness mix with salty sea air and a hint of beeswax, with a light smokiness underneath.

    Palate

Some whisky you buy. Some you pass down. Springbank 30 Year Old belongs to the second kind - a bottle that waited quietly in cask while three decades passed outside the warehouse walls in Campbeltown.

    Expert Description

Springbank 30 Year Old 2022 Release is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled in 1992, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and bottled at 46%.

This whisky sits at the oldest end of the distillery's core range, and the 2022 release draws on a cask makeup of roughly 85% ex-bourbon and 15% ex-sherry casks. Three decades in wood have brought a depth and roundness that only comes with time, layered on top of Springbank's signature 2.5 times distillation, which gives the whisky its oily, complex style.

    Expert description

Stauning 1st Edition Traditional 2009/2012 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 63.3% and matured for 3 years. Distilled in 2009 and released on 30 June 2012. Only 728 bottles. It is the very first Stauning whisky ever released to the market – a historic bottle in Danish whisky history.

Stauning Whisky opened in 2005 in an old slaughterhouse building in Skjern, and the early years were marked by passion, experimentation and almost no resources. 1st Edition is an expression of all that: raw, powerful and with a historical significance that transcends any tasting note.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Powerful and complex. Malt, dried fruit, honey and a touch of oak. The 63.3% is present but approachable with a little water.

    Palate

Intense malt and fruit notes with oak spice and a warm, full-bodied core. Strong but well-balanced for its ABV.

Skjern, 2009. The distillery is four years old and the team is still figuring out what Stauning can become. This bottle is the answer from back then.

    Expert description

Stauning 2nd Edition Peated 2009/2012 is a Danish Peated Single Malt Whisky distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2012 at cask strength 62.8%. It is one of Stauning's very first commercial bottlings – distilled just four years after the distillery opened and released while the whisky's DNA was still taking shape. The peated profile comes from floor-malted peated malt, and the high cask strength reflects an uncompromising approach to bottling.

Stauning Whisky opened in 2005 with seven amateurs and rough grain. 2nd Edition Peated represents the earliest stage of a distillery that has since grown into one of the world's most acclaimed. Finding a bottle today is equivalent to owning a piece of Danish whisky's renaissance.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Peat, smoke and a youthful freshness. Bonfire, green notes and a light citrus edge that reveals the short maturation time.

    Palate

Smoke and salt with a spiced core. Cask strength is evident, but malt and sweetness sit behind it. Raw energy and early Stauning character.

    Finish

Long and warm with ash, peat and a light bitterness. It stays with you.

    Item no.: 22227865400-508

Heather on the moors of West Jutland. Stauning has used it since the beginning – an ingredient that gives HEATHER its floral and honeyed character.

    Expert description

Stauning HEATHER September 2017 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 48.7% and made with heather added during the drying of the malt. Distilled 2013-2014 and released in September 2017. Heather is a traditional ingredient in Nordic brewing and distilling, and Stauning revives the tradition in the HEATHER series. The result is a whisky with a unique floral and honeyed profile – clearly different from the rest of Stauning's range.

HEATHER is one of Stauning's most original expressions. It is not just a variation on a theme – it is a whisky that could not come from any other region. The Jutland heather moor is the invisible ingredient.

    Tasting notes

    Item no.: 22227865400-305

Stauning KAOS is the opposite of the system – a multi-malt whisky that blends grain types instead of keeping to one. The 2016 edition is one of the earliest releases and sets the standard for the series.

    Expert description

Stauning KAOS 2016 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 46.5% and made from a blend of malted grain types. Distilled 2011-2013 and released in February 2016. KAOS is Stauning's most complex expression – a counterpoint to the peated single malts, characterised by fruity, creamy notes and elegant complexity. The bottling is non-chill filtered.

Stauning Whisky opened in 2005 in Skjern and has since earned international recognition for its floor malting and copper pot distillation of Danish grain. KAOS represents the experimental side of the distillery – each batch is a new composition.

    Tasting notes

    Palate

Full and smooth. Peach, honey and caramel with a spiced oak finish. Well balanced.

    Item no.: 22227865400-9000

Stauning PEATED is the distillery's smoky flagship in an age that shows what Danish peated malt can become with six years in cask.

    Expert description

Stauning PEATED 7th Edition 2012/2018 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 48.4% and matured for a minimum of 6 years. Distilled in 2012 and released in 2018. 2,293 bottles produced. Made from peated barley malt, floor-malted in-house at Stauning and double distilled in copper pot stills. Non-chill filtered with natural colour.

The PEATED series is Stauning's answer to classic smoky whisky – but with a Danish identity. This is not Islay imitation: the smoke is integrated, balanced and supported by Danish grain's sweetness. The 7th edition is one of the most mature in the series' early chapter.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Peat smoke and malt with a little honey, citrus and dried fruit behind. Six years in cask gives a roundness the younger editions lack.

    Palate

    Expert description

Stauning Peated Festival 2018 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at cask strength 59.9%. It belongs to Stauning's limited festival series – editions produced in small quantities for specific whisky events. With high bottling strength and low total production, this is a bottle with clear appeal for dedicated collectors of Danish whisky.

    Tasting notes

    Expert description

Stauning Port Smoke Cask Strength 2015/2019 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2019 at cask strength 61.9%. Item no.: 22227865400-8451

Six years in cask. Peated single malt at cask strength 60.8%. ROMMER is Whisky.dk's Private Cask from Stauning – one barrel, bottled in 2017, impossible to replicate.

    Expert description

Stauning Private Cask ROMMER Whisky.dk 6 Year 2010/2017 is a Danish Peated Single Malt Whisky bottled at cask strength 60.8%. ROMMER is the name given to this specific Private Cask, owned and matured by Whisky.dk for six years from 2010 to 2017. The peated style draws on Stauning's West Jutland peat, delivering a green and herbal smoke character. Six years brings more integration and depth than younger releases – the smoke is well-integrated with oak sweetness and a complexity that shorter maturations rarely achieve. At 60.8%, this is a powerful, undiluted version of Stauning's peated style.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Well-integrated smoke with a light herbal edge. Vanilla, gentle citrus and oak sweetness grow beneath the smoke.

    Palate

Powerful and complex. Smoke, spices and a sweetness of vanilla and light caramel. Citrus fruit and pepper spice lurk in the background.

    Finish

Long and warming with smoke and oak persisting. A trace of salt at the very end.

    Did you know?

Stauning's peated single malt is smoked with peat from West Jutland bogs, not Scottish peat. This gives a more green and herbal smoke profile rather than the iodine-driven character associated with Islay whiskies.

  • Bottle of Stauning Traditional Oloroso Cask 2010/2013 Danish Single Malt Whisky
    Item no.: 22227865400-19

In 2010, Stauning was still nine friends with a shared dream, working out of an old meat-processing plant in Skjern. This cask is from that era – three winters in Oloroso sherry wood, bottled in 2013 with sherry written all over it.

    Expert description

Stauning Traditional Oloroso Cask 2010/2013 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky matured in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 52.8%. The Traditional expression is Stauning's unpeated single malt built on malted barley – the foundation the distillery was built on. Oloroso is a dry sherry style rich in walnuts, dried fruit and raisins, and three years in these casks left a decisive mark. Stauning's small copper pot stills and intensive production method build character quickly, and that shows clearly in the glass. This is among the earliest commercial releases from the distillery, from a time when total production was vanishingly small.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Dried apricots and raisins upfront. Vanilla, light oak and a nutty undercurrent from the sherry drum. A hint of dried orange peel.

    Palate

Creamy and full. Christmas cake, dark raisins and sherry sweetness. Spices – star anise and black pepper – arrive mid-palate.

    Finish

Long and warming. Sherry tannins linger alongside a gentle dark chocolate bitterness.

November 2016. Stauning releases the 13th edition of the Rye series – and calls it "Young Rye" with a transparency about age that was unusual in the whisky world at the time.

    Expert description

Stauning Young Rye 2016 November is a Danish Rye Whisky bottled at 52.3% and distilled in 2013. Bottled March 2016 and released November 2016 as the 13th edition in the Rye series. Made from 100% Danish rye malt, floor-malted in-house. Approximately 3,000 bottles. Non-chill filtered. Sold without original box.

The Young Rye designation is Stauning's way of saying: what you see is what you get. Young, but not undeveloped – the rye malt provides a natural spiciness that does not require decades of maturation to make sense.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Fresh and spicy with green apple, rye bread and citrus peel. Intense and lively for its age.

    Palate

Sharp and spiced rye core with pepper, ginger and light sweetness. Energetic and clear in profile.

When Stauning called their early editions "Young Rye", they broke with an industry angle of hiding age behind terms like "NAS" (No Age Statement). It was a deliberate choice of honesty that earned respect in the whisky community.

    Item no.: 22227865400-310

February 2017. Stauning Rye is finding its voice. This edition is slightly more restrained than the most powerful Young Rye batches – but no less interesting.

    Expert description

Stauning Young Rye 2017 February is a Danish Rye Whisky bottled at 48.4% and distilled in 2013. Released February 2017. Made from 100% Danish rye malt, floor-malted and double distilled. 2,377 bottles. Non-chill filtered with natural colour.

At 48.4% ABV this edition is more approachable than the stronger variants in the series. It provides a softer entry into Stauning's rye character – spiced and fruity without overwhelming the palate.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Rye, light blossom and dried fruit. Honey and baked grain with a mild spice note.

    Palate

Soft and malt-rich with rye bread, light pepper and peach. Balanced and approachable.

    Finish

Moderate with malt sweetness and light spice. Pleasant ending.

2,377 bottles is one of the lower production figures in Stauning's Rye series. This is because the distillery was still relatively small at this point – the new large distillery building did not open until 2018.
