Glenfiddich The Original is a Limited Edition. Based on the Glenfiddich Straight Malt from 1963, considered by the Scotch whisky industry to be the originator of today's malt whisky market Only 600 bottles in Denmark A limited edition expression that is a reproduction of the 1963 Glenfiddich Straight Malt recipe, with which Sandy Grant Gordon took Glenfiddich to the world and effectively created the single malt category as it is known today At the time blenders said it could not be done. But Sandy and his brother Charles continued, showing the Grant family's boldness and visionary mind for Glenfiddich, family run distillery since 1887. Malt Master Brian Kinsman was able to recreate "Glenfiddich Straight Malt" taste profile thanks to the extensive family archives that include the original recipe book from Hamish Robertson, Glenfiddich 4th Malt Master, as well as Brian's extensive historic cask sample collection. In addition Brian received help from Dane Hans-Henrik Hansen, who owns the biggest Glenfiddich collection in the world. Hans-Henrik helped sourcing Original bottles from 1963 for Brian to sample.The Look:Glenfiddich The Original packaging design takes its cues from the 1963 Glenfiddich 'Straight Malt' Glenfiddich The Original is presented in a premium black tin reminiscent of Snow Phoenix, another innovative limited edition created by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman Tasting notes: Nose: A fruity, floral aroma with the hallmark Glenfiddich hint of pear. Subtle oak notes and a youthful biscuity character. Taste: Pleasantly sweet with lively fruit notes and a soft vanilla oakiness. The flavours develop with the addition of a little water and to reveal delicate spices, citrus and fresh baked oatcakes. Finish: Deliciously dry.
