Frank Sinatra drank Jack Daniel's his whole life — this expression is the brand's tribute back.

    Expert description

Sinatra Select is a Tennessee Whiskey made in memory of Frank Sinatra, one of Jack Daniel's most famous ambassadors for decades. The whiskey is aged in specially made barrels with grooves cut into the wood, increasing the contact surface between whiskey and oak and adding extra character during ageing. Jack Daniel's Distillery was founded in 1866 by Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and is officially registered as America's first distillery. All production still happens on the same site, where the whiskey is filtered drop by drop through nearly 3 metres of sugar maple charcoal before going into new, charred oak barrels — the Lincoln County Process that defines Tennessee Whiskey.

Bottled at 45%, a strength slightly above the core range's 40%.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

The nose offers rich caramel, toasted oak and a hint of dark fruit.

    Palate

The palate is full and sweeter than Old No. 7, with caramel, vanilla and lightly spiced oak from the grooved barrels.

    Finish

The finish is long and warm, with lingering caramel and wood.

Frequently asked questions about Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select

Is this a single malt whisky?

No, Jack Daniel's is a Tennessee Whiskey, made from a corn-based mash and filtered through sugar maple charcoal (the Lincoln County Process), which sets it apart from Scotch single malt.

    What does 'sour mash' mean?

Sour mash means that part of the mash from a previous distillation is reused in the next one to ensure a consistent acid balance and flavour from batch to batch — a method used by most American whiskey distilleries.

How should the whiskey be served?

Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in classic cocktails like a Jack & Coke — experiment to find what suits the occasion best.

Where does Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select come from?

It comes from Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, America's officially first registered distillery.

What's the connection to Frank Sinatra?

Sinatra was for many years one of Jack Daniel's most famous ambassadors, and this expression was made as a tribute to him and his relationship with the brand.

What do the grooved barrels do?

The grooves in the wood increase the contact surface between whiskey and oak, which can add more character and colour during ageing.
