  • Glenfiddich 18 year old Excellence Old Version Single Speyside Malt Whisky 43%
    Item no.: 222265429-671

Some bottles are simply sold, and some bottles carry a family's story with them.
Glenfiddich Excellence 18 Year Old is the latter - a black and gold tribute to eighteen people who, across generations, have kept the distillery in family hands.
It's whisky as craft and legacy, bottled together.

    Expert Description

Glenfiddich Excellence 18 Year Old is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in oak casks and bottled at 43%.

This bottle is a discontinued release from Glenfiddich that no longer forms part of the distillery's core range. The label describes the whisky as "Pure Malt" - a term used before "Single Malt" became the industry standard, and one that hints at just how old this release is. Glenfiddich remains owned and run by the Grant family, and the distillery sits in Dufftown at the heart of Speyside, drawing its water from a single source, the Robbie Dhu spring.

The black bottle with its gold embossed detailing is unmistakable and a world away from Glenfiddich's more understated modern packaging. That visual style, combined with the fact that this expression is no longer bottled, turns this release into more than just another 18 year old single malt - it's a piece of the distillery's history.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Ripe apples and pears meet a touch of honey and light spice, with warm oak sitting underneath it all.

    Palate

Round and full-bodied with honey, vanilla and dried fruit - dates and candied orange peel - drifting into gently spiced oak.

    Finish

Long and warming, with a dry, spiced oak finish and a last trace of sweetness.

    Investment Potential

High. This is a discontinued release that Glenfiddich no longer produces, and it now surfaces mainly through specialists in rare and old whisky. The iconic black and gold packaging and the older "Pure Malt" labelling make it sought after among collectors, and its value has risen noticeably as fewer bottles remain in circulation.

    Did You Know?

The name "Excellence" pays tribute to the eighteen members of the Grant family who, across generations, have helped run Glenfiddich - hence the number 18 in the name.

Red wine casks are among the rarest cask types in Scotch whisky production, because the wine's tannins can dominate the flavour if the finish runs too long — a balance Glenfiddich's whisky makers have fine-tuned carefully.

  • Glenfiddich 30 year old XXX Pre 2007 Single Speyside Malt Whisky 40%
    Item no.: 22227865429-80

Thirty years in a cask is a long time. The world outside Dufftown has changed a great deal since this whisky went into wood sometime in the 1980s, and since 2007, when Glenfiddich redesigned the 30 Year Old and raised the strength to 43%, this version has stood apart as a small piece of distillery history in its own right. This bottle is from before that change, back when it carried the name Blue Label and was bottled at 40%.

    The Expert's Description

Glenfiddich 30 Year Old is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in Oloroso Sherry Casks and American Bourbon Casks and bottled at 40%. This is the original edition of Glenfiddich's 30 Year Old, launched in 2000 and discontinued when the distillery gave both the label and the strength an overhaul in 2007. Since then the 30 Year Old has been bottled at 43%, while this particular bottling still carries the old strength. Every cask is personally nosed and approved by Glenfiddich's Malt Master before it earns a place in the final vatting, and only a limited number of casks make it all the way through thirty years in the warehouse. Maturation alternates between Spanish Oloroso Sherry Casks, which lend depth and dark fruit, and American Bourbon Casks, which contribute vanilla and a touch of sweetness. The result is a whisky that carries three decades of patience within it, complex but never heavy.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dark oak, toasted almond and a hint of spiced sherry greet the nose first. Behind that sits dried fig and a faint, damp earthiness reminiscent of an old library.

    Palate

The palate is round and full-bodied with notes of date, caramelised sugar and a slightly bitter orange peel. Oak steps forward clearly alongside warm festive spices, cinnamon and clove.

    Finish

The finish is long and dry, with a last flicker of dark chocolate and worn wood that lingers well after the final sip.

    Investment Potential

The investment potential is rated medium to high. This pre-2007 edition is discontinued and is becoming harder to find every year, and it now trades noticeably above what a comparable newer 30 Year Old from Glenfiddich costs. Collectors are especially drawn to the old 40% strength and the original Blue Label design.

    Item no.: 059763-615-679

Fifty-five percent of Glengoyne own range sits in sherry casks. Here Hunter Laing has done the opposite and left one refill butt alone for sixteen years.

    The expert's description

Glengoyne 2007/2023 Old Malt Cask is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from a single refill butt, bottled at 50%.

The whisky was distilled in June 2007 and bottled in October 2023 after sixteen years. The cask gave 677 bottles, which is a lot for a single cask — a butt holds around 500 litres against half that for a hogshead.

Old Malt Cask is the oldest range from Hunter Laing and is always bottled at 50%. The whisky is non-chill filtered and of natural colour, so the strength is the only thing adjusted.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Malt, apple and light caramel with a dry nutty note. The refill cask has let the spirit stand forward.

    Palate

Dry and malty with green apples, nuts and a hint of honey. The 50% gives bite, but the whisky is still bright in its expression.

    The expert's description

Glengoyne 2007/2023 The First Edition is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from a single refill hogshead, bottled at cask strength 57.7%.

The cask carries the number HL20035 and gave 319 bottles after fifteen years. A hogshead holds around 250 litres, half the size of a butt, which is why the outturn is smaller than the Old Malt Cask release from the same year.

The First Editions is the Hunter Laing range of single casks at full cask strength. The whisky is non-chill filtered and of natural colour, so it reaches the glass exactly as it left the cask.

  • Glenkinchie 10 year older one litre bottle of 100 cl with old label
    Item no.: 50595534-8377

Some whiskies carry their age on the label rather than in the glass. This particular Glenkinchie still wears the label design the distillery retired years ago, from before its 12-year-old successor even existed.

    Expert Description

Glenkinchie 10 Year Old Edinburgh Malt Old Version is a Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled at 43%. This bottling belongs to the original 10 Year Old expression Diageo launched in 1988 as the Lowland representative in its famous Classic Malts of Scotland range, alongside names like Talisker, Oban and Lagavulin. Production of this 10 year old version continued until 2006, and it was officially discontinued in 2007 when a 12 year old expression took its place, making this a distinctly earlier generation than what sits on shelves today.

Glenkinchie sits in East Lothian, a short drive from Edinburgh, and earned its nickname "The Edinburgh Malt" precisely because of that proximity. The distillery has been running since 1837 and is known for housing some of Scotland's largest stills, which produces a lighter, more floral spirit than what most people associate with Scotch whisky. The barley grown on the surrounding farmland is said to mature quickly into the whisky's character, giving it the fresh, almost green style the Lowland region is known for.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Light and delicate with a clean, fresh aroma. There's a hint of freshly cut grass and a touch of dryness underneath, hinting at the classic Lowland style.

    Palate

Soft and rounded with fresh, green notes and a touch of summer fruit. The body stays light, almost delicate, making it easy to enjoy without water.

    Finish

Short to medium, with a delicate dryness that rounds off the experience nicely.

    Did You Know?

When Diageo picked the six whiskies for its Classic Malts range in 1988, Glenkinchie got the nod for the Lowlands over Rosebank, a choice many whisky people at the time considered the more obvious one. Rosebank closed not long after, and today collectors treat that bottle as one of the great lost names, while Glenkinchie remained standing as the public face of the Lowlands.

A litre rather than the usual 70 centilitres. That format was sold in airports, and this bottle has been standing since June 1990.

Please note: Part of the tax strip is missing, and the bottle has a small scratch or knock mark in the glass. The bottle came from Copenhagen Airport, June 1990.

    The expert's description

Glenkinchie 10 Year Old Version is a Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled at 43% in a one litre bottle of 100 CL.

The ten year old was the distillery standard expression until it was replaced by the twelve year old. The change came because the two extra years in oak gave more vanilla, and the twelve has been the one on the shelves ever since.

Litre bottles like this were made for duty-free sales. Label, capsule and format all belong to that period, which makes the bottle as much a piece of airport history as a whisky.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Bright and floral with lemon, grass and a note of honey.

    Palate

Soft and light at 43% with citrus, malt and a mild spiced sweetness. The Lowland style is clear: clean and without weight.

    Finish

Short to medium, dry and lightly grassy.

  • Glenlivet Cellar Collection bottle with gold detailing and vintage-style label
    Item no.: 22227865396-1

Some casks the distillery never forgets. A few remain in the warehouse year after year, while the rest of the vintage is sold and drunk, until they are finally ready to earn a chapter of their own. Glenlivet 1983 is one of those casks.

    Expert Description

Glenlivet 1983/2003 Cellar Collection 20 Year Old is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky, matured in French Limousin oak and bottled at 46%.

The whisky was distilled in 1983 and drawn from the cask again in 2003 as part of The Glenlivet's Cellar Collection, a series in which the distillery's management selected casks that show the house's classic style in a more mature and complex form. French Limousin oak is a deliberate choice, distinct from the American and Spanish oak the whisky is usually matured in, and it lends the bottle a note of spice and a tighter wood character than one usually associates with Glenlivet. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration, preserving its natural oils and structure.

After 20 years, the light, fruity style Glenlivet is known for has had time to develop into something deeper, without losing the freshness that defines the distillery.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Ripe pears and green apples meet honey and vanilla, with a hint of citrus and a light spiced undertone from the Limousin oak.

    Palate

Round and full with tropical fruit, malt and toffee, where the long maturation gives a creamy texture and a subtle balance between sweetness and spice.

    Finish

Long and elegant with oak, dried fruit and a discreet nutty tone.

Four months can make quite a difference where cask strength is concerned. This cask was emptied in April 2021, half a year before its sibling cask from the same distillate, and came out even stronger.

The whisky is distilled at The Glenlivet on 12 December 2006 and bottled by Signatory Vintage on 26 April 2021 after 14 years of maturation in a first fill sherry butt (cask no. 901279). It is bottled at natural colour in a limited release of only 598 bottles.

    Tasting Notes

A first fill sherry cask, meaning a cask that has only previously held sherry and never whisky before this filling, typically gives a far more intense colour and flavour influence than a refill cask, which explains the deep sherry character in this bottling.

One cask, 564 bottles, four Nordic countries to share them. That is how the story of Coupar Angus begins, a bottle never meant for a large audience, and precisely for that reason so sought after.

    Expert Description

Glenlivet Coupar Angus 15 Year Old Limited Edition is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky, drawn straight from a single sherry cask at cask strength of 57.9%.

The whisky is a distillery bottling, released exclusively to be shared between the four Nordic countries, with only 564 bottles of this specific release reaching Scandinavia. Expert Description

Cipher was one of The Glenlivet's limited releases, developed as part of a campaign in which the distillery played with mystery and code themes around the flavour. The whisky is a distillery bottling from The Glenlivet, released specifically for the Scandinavian market, with only 618 bottles from this one Spanish Oloroso sherry cask (cask no. 58013). The name Creag An Innean refers to a hill near the distillery that, in the 19th century, served as a lookout point for whisky smugglers heading south to the market in Dundee, a place from which they could watch for excisemen and plan their routes well in advance.

  • Bottle of Glenlossie Berry Bros 23 Year Old Speyside Single Malt whisky
    Item no.: 22227865449-7042

Twenty-three years is a long time to sit still in a Scottish warehouse – long enough for a barely-known Speyside malt like Glenlossie to become something quite different from where it started. Berry Bros & Rudd has captured exactly that moment.

    Expert's Description

Glenlossie 1992/2016 Berry Bros 23 Year Old is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky bottled at 46%.

Distilled in 1992, the whisky was sourced by Berry Bros & Rudd, Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant, which has traded rare casks under the Berry's Own Selection label since its founding in 1698. This Glenlossie comes from a single cask, No. 3473, and wears its 23 years openly – both in colour and in its mature, rounded character.

Glenlossie rarely reaches the world as a standalone single malt, since most of its output goes into blends. A release this old from an independent bottler is therefore a rare chance to meet the distillery at its most mature.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Waxy honey and dried apricot sit over a lightly nutty malt. Given time in the glass, a faint soapy, floral note emerges too, typical of older Speyside malts.

    Palate

Soft and round, with toffee, lightly toasted almonds and a hint of old oak polish. The 23 years have smoothed every edge, without the whisky losing its cereal core.

    Finish

Dry and faintly tannic, with a lingering honeyed note and a distant whisper of spiced wood.

Two casks from the same distillate, bottled just a year apart – a rare chance to see how a single bourbon barrel can pull a whisky in its own direction. This is one half of that story.

    Expert's Description

Glenlossie 2006/2021 Signatory 14 Year Old is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky bottled at cask strength, 58.6%.

Distilled on 27 November 2006 and bottled on 22 April 2021 by Signatory, from two bourbon barrels, Cask No. 3291 and 3302, yielding 388 bottles – with no added colour and no chill filtration, so the colour is exactly what the casks gave it.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Pale honey and vanilla custard with a hint of coconut from the bourbon cask. Beneath the sweetness sits a dry, cereal malt and a touch of green apple.

    Palate

Powerful and sweet, with caramel, vanilla sugar and a warm, peppery spice. The bourbon cask's imprint is clear, but it never smothers the malt beneath.

    Item no.: 505956-759824-66

This is how Glenmorangie used to taste, before whisky was routinely diluted down to today's usual 40-43%. Traditional 100 Proof is a tribute to that older, more powerful style.

    Expert's Description

Glenmorangie Traditional 100 Proof is a Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky bottled at a full 57.2% – the historic "100 proof" strength that was common for whisky in the early 1900s.

The whisky carries no age statement but is matured in bourbon casks at the distillery in Tain, just like Glenmorangie's core range. It's non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring, which together with the higher strength gives a fuller, more intense version of Glenmorangie's classic, citrus-driven style.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Powerful and intense, with toasted citrus peel, vanilla and a light touch of honey.

    Palate

Full and oily on the tongue, with orange, caramel and a warm, spiced sweetness from the higher strength.

  • Bottle of Hazelburn 10 Year Old Marsala Cask Denmark from Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown
    Item no.: 22227865434-10155

Hazelburn is Springbank's quiet third voice - no smoke, triple distilled, and a softness that surprises those who only know the distillery's other two styles. This release was bottled in a small number, exclusively for the Danish market.

    Expert Description

Hazelburn 10 Year Old Marsala Cask Denmark is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Springbank, finished in Marsala casks and bottled at 58.8%.

Hazelburn is one of the three styles produced at Springbank Distillery, standing apart by being triple distilled and entirely unpeated - an unusual combination in Campbeltown that gives a lighter, more refined whisky than its smoky siblings. This 10 year old was distilled in June 2007 and bottled in May 2018, after which a Marsala cask finish added sweetness and body that pairs well with Hazelburn's fresh core character. Only 258 bottles were released for the Danish market via Juuls Vinhandel.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Light caramel and strawberry jam meet almost overripe citrus, patisserie pastry and a touch of vanilla.

    Palate

Vanilla and cask notes blend with red berries in a creamy, almost viscous style that pairs beautifully with the high strength.

    Finish

Soft and round, with a lingering sweetness of berries and pastry that slowly gives way to a dry, lightly spiced close.
