Expert's Description
Bunnahabhain 2012/2022 Signatory Vintage 10 Years Old is a Single Islay Malt Scotch Whisky matured in a sherry butt and bottled at cask strength, 63.8%.
The whisky was distilled in May 2012 and bottled in September 2022 from cask #900789, a sherry cask that has held onto both colour and power well through the ten years. Signatory bottled 622 bottles from this single cask, all at full cask strength.
The high strength means the whisky can – and rewards – a few drops of water, which open up the sherry cask's deeper layers.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Dark sherry, raisins and an intense spiciness of cloves and cinnamon.
Palate
Powerful and concentrated with dried fruit, walnuts and a burning warmth from the cask strength.
Finish
Very long, dry and spicy with lingering sherry.

Did You Know?
At 63.8%, this bottle sits close to the upper end of what a sherry cask typically yields at bottling without adjustment – the longer the maturation, the more alcohol normally evaporates, so a high strength after ten years is unusual.
