25 years is a long time to wait for a bottle, and Murray McDavid spent the last three of them on something unusual: a cask that previously held Guyanese rum. The result is a single grain that tastes more of the Caribbean than of the Highlands.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond 1996/2022 Murray McDavid 25 Year Old is a Highland Single Grain Scotch Whisky matured in bourbon hogsheads with a rum finish and bottled at 55.9%.

A single cask is always a promise of something that will never come again. Loch Lomond 2008/2019 Single Cask 18/385-3 is the distillery's own single-cask series, where each cask stands alone and tells its own story from barrel to bottle.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond 2008/2019 Single Cask 18/385-3 is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in an oak cask and bottled at 49.9%.

The whisky was distilled in 2008 and rested in a single, named cask until bottling in 2019, without being blended with any other casks. This makes it a pure, unfiltered representation of how Loch Lomond's spirit develops in that specific cask over 11 years of maturation.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Ripe apples and honey with an underlying malt note and a touch of warm spice.

Some whisky exists to quench a thirst, and some whisky exists to be sat with, because it has something to say. Loch Lomond 21 Year Old belongs firmly in the second category – a mature, unhurried story from a distillery unafraid to do things its own way.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond 21 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in American oak and bottled at 46%.

The whisky was launched alongside the distillery's major brand relaunch and is built from three different spirit styles from the distillery, two of which are peated. All three are matured separately in American oak casks before being married for up to three months in cask ahead of bottling. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Apple and suet pastry give an impression of old-fashioned steamed pudding, growing thicker and sweeter over time with a hint of char.

    Palate

Sweet and lightly salty with warming spice, while sherry casks shine through with a deep hit of dried fruit and chocolate.

Sometimes a whisky is not just a celebration of a golf tournament, but also a story about the sea. Loch Lomond's 22 Year Old The Open Course Collection takes its final maturation in Spanish oak – a nod to a shipwreck that has rested off Portrush's coast since 1588.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond 22 Year Old The Open Course 2025 153rd Royal Portrush is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in American oak with a Spanish oak finish and bottled at 46.7%.

The whisky was distilled in 2002 using spirit exclusively from the distillery's unique straight neck pot stills and matured for over 21 years in American oak before receiving a six-month finish in specially toasted virgin Spanish oak from the distillery's own cooperage. The Spanish oak is a tribute to the Spanish Armada ship La Girona, which sank off the coast of Portrush in 1588. Master Blender Michael Henry crafted this expression, with just 3,500 bottles available worldwide. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Some whiskies exist because a distillery can do something others simply can't. Loch Lomond Distiller's Choice is proof of that – a single grain made entirely from malted barley, run through a Coffey still few other distilleries even own.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond Distiller's Choice 2023 Coffey Still is a Highland Single Grain Scotch Whisky matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 48.8%.

Although made entirely from 100% malted barley, it is classed as single grain because it is distilled on the distillery's continuous Coffey still rather than traditional pot stills. Master Blender Michael Henry has selected whisky aged between 5 and 12 years and combined 70% first-fill with 30% second-fill bourbon casks. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Not all whisky from Loch Lomond comes from traditional pot stills. Grainstorm is the distillery's answer to what happens when malted barley runs through a Coffey still – and the result is far fruitier than most expect from a grain whisky.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond Grainstorm is a Highland Single Grain Scotch Whisky matured in American oak and bottled at 46%.

The whisky is distilled entirely from malted barley on the distillery's continuous Coffey still, making it a single grain rather than a single malt, even though the grain is the same. Maturation takes place exclusively in American oak, which gives the whisky its bright, fruity and slightly sweet character.

    Nose

Clove, vanilla and blackcurrant, with peat leaning towards bandages and a touch of iodine, alongside fresh lemons and pears.

    Palate

Sweet, tangy peat with green apple, lime citrus and aniseed, followed by vanilla and a note of lemongrass.

    Finish

Crisp, dry finish with distant peat smoke and a short but clear peaty impression.

Some whiskies don't need to surprise – they just need to be good, every time. Loch Lomond Reserve is the distillery's take on a classic blend, where both malt and grain come from the very same address on the loch's shore.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond Reserve is a Blended Scotch Whisky matured in American oak and bottled at 40%.

The whisky is composed entirely of malt and grain whisky distilled and matured at Loch Lomond Distillery – with no whisky sourced from other distilleries. That makes it a rarity among blends: a "single-site blend", where the entire process happens in one place.

    Tasting Notes

Sweet honey and caramel with a touch of toffee and light vanilla.

Light and easy-drinking with honeyed sweetness, creamy caramel and a soft, round body.

A signature blend has to do it all at once – be easy-drinking, yet still bring something to the table. Loch Lomond Signature solves that with a solera system that ties the distillery's malt and grain together into one rounded whole.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond Signature is a Blended Scotch Whisky matured in oloroso casks and re-charred American bourbon casks and bottled at 40%.

The whisky is built on a solera system of 100 casks, where malt and grain whisky from the distillery are continuously blended and replenished. The combination of ex-oloroso sherry casks and re-charred American oak gives the whisky a round, fruity sweetness with a sherried edge.

    Tasting Notes

    Item no.: 059763-615-1032

On the banks of Scotland's most famous loch sits a distillery that isn't afraid to play with fire. Loch Lomond Steam & Fire comes from the same curiosity that drives the distillery's own on-site cooperage, where barrels aren't just aged but re-charred until they give the whisky something entirely its own.

    Expert's Description

Loch Lomond Steam & Fire is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in American oak and bottled at 46%.

The whisky begins its life in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and American oak, before moving into casks that are heavily re-charred at the distillery's own cooperage – a process staff call "steam and fire". Ten months of finishing on these hard-charred casks gives the whisky its signature depth of toasted wood and burnt sugar, without ever losing Loch Lomond's fruity, light house style.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Toffee and ripe apples meet a sweet caramel aroma with a touch of cinnamon and a light, tangy citrus edge.

    Palate

Silky on the palate with orange, peach and marmalade, sliding into toasted marshmallow and melted brown sugar – finishing with a hint of dark chocolate.

    Finish

Medium to long, dry finish with smoky dark chocolate and a gentle wisp of smoke from the charred casks.

    Item no.: 22333-8599

Longmorn 2014 Little Brown Dog 11 Year 1st Fill Bourbon Cask Single Speyside Malt Whisky 58.9%

This Longmorn 2014 Single Cask is a rare and characterful insight into what the distillery can deliver when a single bourbon cask is allowed to stand on its own. Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2025 at full cask strength of 58.9%, this whisky showcases Longmorn’s creamy, fruit‑driven Speyside style in its purest and most unadulterated form.

Only 252 bottles were drawn from this 1st fill bourbon cask, and the label was created with a touch of humour: the whisky is so soft and buttery on the palate that the bottlers chose a “butter pack” design as a tribute to its silky lactone profile. A small detail that perfectly reflects the experience waiting in the glass.

This cask has long been one of LBD’s absolute favourites in the warehouse – a cask that simply waited for the right moment to be shared. Longmorn rarely appears as an independent bottling, which makes this release particularly special.

The pale, almost transparent colour is completely deceptive. Behind it lies a whisky with impressive complexity, depth, and structure. A perfect example of how colour is never a guarantee of intensity – and how a good bourbon cask can deliver far more than expected. Note the “Lurpak” colours on the label – because this whisky is “as smooth as butter.”

Expect a fresh, creamy, and aromatic Longmorn with:

    buttery mouthfeel and soft lactones
vanilla, coconut, and light tropical fruits
citrus, green melon, and fresh oak
a clean, oily, and long finish

A whisky that works both as an elegant everyday dram and as an exciting experience for collectors who want to taste Longmorn in its most natural form.

  • Bottle of Longrow 100 Proof Batch 1 from Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown
    Item no.: 2222444-2025

Some whiskies whisper. Longrow 100 Proof shouts. From Springbank's old still house by the Campbeltown harbour comes this powerful take on the peated Longrow style, cranked up to a strength that matches the smoke blow for blow.

    Expert Description

Longrow 100 Proof Batch 1 is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Springbank, matured in bourbon and pinot noir casks and bottled at cask strength, 57.1%.

The name 100 Proof refers to the old British strength scale, where 100 proof equals roughly 57% ABV - the strength whisky was historically traded and taxed at. Batch 1 in this series spent its first four years in refill bourbon casks before a further two years in fresh pinot noir casks, layering sweet berry notes over Longrow's bold, peated core.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Medicinal smoke and blackcurrant arrive immediately, followed by macerated strawberries, red grapes and a hint of tobacco. Beneath the smoke sit classic Springbank markers of oil, citrus and dried seaweed.

    Palate

The smoke turns more earthy on the palate, with creme brulee, vanilla and almonds in the background. Charred bacon, black pepper and a whiff of spent matches add edge, while tart red berries keep it fresh.

    Finish

Red cola cubes, strawberry laces and marzipan carry the long, smoky finish home.

    Investment Potential

Low - Longrow 100 Proof is made for drinking rather than shelf-holding, and it sells through quickly at retailers, but the series has not yet established itself as a dedicated collector's item.

    Did You Know?

The term "proof" comes from an old test where gunpowder was soaked in whisky and set alight - if it burned evenly, the strength was "proven" high enough to be pure spirit.

Round two of Longrow 100 Proof proves that cask strength doesn't have to come at the cost of balance. The power is still there, but this batch has its own fingerprint from the casks.

    Expert Description

Longrow 100 Proof Batch 2 is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Springbank, bottled at cask strength, 57.1%.

Like Batch 1, this release is double distilled and defined by an intense peat smoke, deep complexity and a clear maritime edge. The full, oily mouthfeel is backed by notes of charred wood, salted caramel and dark chocolate that fuse into a long, smoky experience - a clear tribute to Campbeltown's whisky traditions.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Charred wood and salted caramel meet dark chocolate and a pronounced, medicinal smoke.

    Palate

Full and oily with spice and a charred sweetness that binds the smoke together with a light salty edge.

    Finish

Where the Mull of Kintyre runs out into the sea and the water keeps hammering at granite and kelp, the old pot stills still fire up a different kind of Campbeltown whisky. Longrow is the peated sibling of Springbank, and in this 21 year old 2023 release, time has softened the smoke into something almost sweet.

    Expert Description

Longrow 21 Year Old Limited Edition 2023 is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Springbank, matured in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks and bottled at 46%.

Longrow is the most heavily peated of the three styles produced at Springbank Distillery, alongside the medium-peated Springbank and the unpeated, triple-distilled Hazelburn. The barley is dried over peat smoke for up to 48 hours before it is milled, mashed and fermented using the same old-fashioned methods as the rest of the distillery's output. The 21 year old is the oldest standing release in the Longrow range, and this 2023 vintage draws its character from roughly 65% sherry casks and 35% bourbon casks, a combination that lends the smoke a sweetness rarely found in younger expressions.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

A savoury, slightly tangy note greets you first, followed by hazelnut and blackcurrant. Underneath sits a hint of tanned leather and smoked ham.

    Palate

A syrupy sweetness coats the palate, where cola bottles and cigar-box tobacco play off each other while the smoke stays in the background like a warm, whispering bass note.

    Finish

The finish is pure Longrow: shingle beach, wet flint and seaweed, as if the sea itself washes over the palate one last time.

    Did You Know?

The name Longrow comes from a distillery in Campbeltown that closed in 1896 and once stood on the site now occupied by Springbank's car park - the name was revived in 1973 for the distillery's peated style.
