  • Glen Scotia 15 Year Old bottle with silver lettering on a dark label
    Item no.: 22227865365-232

Campbeltown once had thirty distilleries. Today it has three. Glen Scotia is one of them, and the 15 year old is where the town’s character shows most clearly — salt, oil and a peat that sits like a shadow behind rather than filling the foreground.

    The expert's description

Glen Scotia 15 Year Old is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in American oak casks and bottled at 46%.

The whisky has spent fifteen years in a mix of 1st fill and refill American oak casks, with no sherry or wine casks to turn the direction. It is non-chill filtered, and the 46% is pitched high enough that the maritime minerality does not vanish. The bottling carries the silver label design Glen Scotia moved to in June 2022.

Glen Scotia has been distilling in Campbeltown since 1832 and sits a few hundred metres from the harbour. In the nineteenth century the town was the whisky capital of Scotland, until the market collapsed and the distilleries closed one after another. Glen Scotia barely survived, stood silent for several periods in the twentieth century, and is run today by Loch Lomond Group.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Toasted vanilla and ripe fruit first, then a salted caramel sweetness. There are light spices and a hint of citrus, and behind it sits the maritime note Campbeltown is known for.

    Palate

Rich and full. Spiced oak, dried fruit and honey, with a mineral tautness mid-palate that points straight at the harbour. The smoke is discreet and only arrives at the end.

    Finish

Long and warm. Pepper, dark chocolate and a withdrawn smoke that lingers long after the fruit has gone.

Campbeltown is still recognised as a whisky region in its own right, even with only three working distilleries left. The town sits on the Kintyre peninsula, and the drive there from Glasgow is longer than to most Speyside distilleries — part of the reason so few make the trip.

  • Glen Scotia 15 Year Old Version bottle with black label and gold lettering
    Item no.: 22227865365-299

Black label, gold lettering. That is how Glen Scotia 15 Year Old looked until the distillery changed design in June 2022 and moved to silver. The whisky inside follows the same recipe — it is the packaging that has become history.

    The expert's description

Glen Scotia 15 Year Old Old Version is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in American oak casks and bottled at 46%.

This is the bottling in the old design with a black label and gold lettering that Glen Scotia used until the summer of 2022. The whisky has spent fifteen years in 1st fill and refill American oak casks and is non-chill filtered. There is no sherry or wine cask in play, so it is the salty, oily character of the distillery that carries the bottle.

Glen Scotia has not had an easy history. The distillery was founded in 1832, and through the twentieth century it stood silent for several periods while the whisky industry in Campbeltown shrank from around thirty distilleries to three. That distilling continues in the town at all is down to equal parts stubbornness and luck.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Salted caramel and toasted vanilla, with ripe fruit and a layer of light spices. The citrus note only arrives after a couple of minutes, and beneath it all sits a sea-like tone.

    Palate

Full and spiced. Oak, dried fruit and honey, with a taut minerality in the middle. The smoke is held back and shows itself as a dry shadow rather than as peat.

    Finish

Long. Pepper and dark chocolate first, then a slow, salted close that lingers.

Medium. The design with a black label and gold lettering was replaced in June 2022 and will not return. Label variants are a well-established collecting category, and a fifteen year old in the discontinued packaging is easier to place in time than most — bottles like that disappear quietly as the remaining stock is drawn down.

  • Glen Scotia Festival 2026 bottle with ruby port-tinted whisky
    Item no.: 222556368-77898

Out at the end of the Kintyre peninsula, where the wind tastes of salt and Campbeltown Loch slaps against the quay, Glen Scotia makes whisky the way it always has. Every year when the town festival comes round, the distillery lets a special bottle out into the world.

    The expert's description

Glen Scotia Campbeltown Festival 2026 is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in 1st fill ex-bourbon casks with a six-month finishing period in 1st fill Ruby Port casks, bottled at cask strength 53.9%.

The whisky is seven years old and built on the distillery medium-peated spirit, which master blender Ashley Smith only distils a few weeks a year. The first seven years were spent in 1st fill ex-bourbon casks, where the coastal style was allowed to unfold, and then came the six months in Ruby Port. That finish is what draws thick, preserved red fruit in and lays it as a sweet contrast over the smoke. The whisky is non-chill filtered and carries natural colour.

Ruby Port is a deliberate counterpoint to tawny. Where tawny is oxidative and nutty, ruby is young, fresh and berry-sweet, and it is exactly that fresh sweetness that can hold its ground against peat smoke. On a seven year old spirit eighteen months of port would have been too much — six months hits the point where the two sides can still be told apart.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Sweet peat and sea salt, quickly giving way to ripe red cherry and soft vanilla fudge. A touch of cream and red berries settles on top, like raspberries stirred into cream.

    Palate

Juicy mandarin meets thick jam of blackcurrant and red berries. Underneath it all lie layers of smoky embers, earthy and warm, and a light coastal saltiness that keeps the sweetness in check.

    Finish

Long and warming with cinnamon and clove, a soft salted note and peat smoke that hangs on well after the last sip.

Medium. Festival bottles are made in one run for one weekend and are never reissued. The run of festival editions is also collected as a series by people who follow Campbeltown.

  • Glen Scotia Victoriana bottle with deep golden amber whisky
    Item no.: 22227865365-231

The name points back to the years when Campbeltown had thirty distilleries and called itself the whisky capital of the world. The casks behind the bottle point somewhere else — towards a deep char that lays a layer of burnt wood and cocoa into the whisky.

    The expert's description

Glen Scotia Victoriana is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky finished in heavily charred bourbon casks and Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, bottled at cask strength 54.2%.

The batch is built from two components: ten to twelve year old whisky from 1st fill bourbon casks and sixteen to eighteen year old whisky from refill European oak. The two are brought together, given their finishing period in heavily charred casks and PX butts, and then rested for six months before bottling. There is no age statement — it would have been misleading for a whisky that deliberately marries two ages.

A heavy char is not the same as an ordinary toast. The inside of the cask is burnt until a layer of charcoal forms, and that layer works both as a filter and as a flavour source. It is why Victoriana picks up cocoa, burnt sugar and a dry smoke note that comes from no peat at all.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Crème brûlée and plenty of vanilla, with cedarwood that reads more like perfume than timber. Behind it sit toasted sugar and citrus peel.

    Palate

Rich and robust. Roasted sugars, dark fruits and spice, with toffee apple and caramelised sugar at the centre and ripe berries running underneath. The charred wood is clearly discernible but measured.

    Finish

Long and warm. Dark fruit and spice first, then a gentle smoke from the charred oak and a dry bitterness at the close.

  • GlenAllachie 10 Year Spanish Virgin Oak Finish
    Item no.: 22227865480-67093-0174

Picture a cask that has never held sherry, port or bourbon - one that has simply waited for its very first fill. That is the Spanish virgin oak behind this 10 year old GlenAllachie. The wood speaks a different language to the seasoned American or European casks you usually meet in Speyside whisky, and the result is spicier, denser and a touch wilder around the edges.

    Expert's Description

GlenAllachie's 10 Year Spanish Virgin Oak is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky finished in virgin Spanish oak casks and bottled at 48% ABV.

The bottling belongs to the distillery's Virgin Oak Series, where Billy Walker and his team set out to explore timber that had never previously held wine or spirit. Spanish oak grows with a tighter grain than American white oak, which means the cask has a higher concentration of tannins and aromatic compounds to give up to the whisky. The effect shows up as a darker, more spice-driven sweetness compared with classic bourbon or sherry casks.

Although Spanish oak is traditionally tied to sherry production, meeting the wood in its virgin, unused state is unusual - most Spanish casks arrive in Scotland only after years of seasoning with wine. Here, the timber gets to speak for itself from the very first drop.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Honey and toasted almonds meet dried apricot and a touch of spiced oak, not unlike a warm cinnamon bun fresh from the oven.

    Palate

Caramelised sugar and cloves unfold alongside a hint of raisin and creamy vanilla, carried by the dense Spanish oak.

    Finish

Long and dry, closing with a last trace of pepper and the tannic grip only virgin timber can give.

    Did You Know?

Spanish oak (Quercus robur and Quercus petraea) has been used to build sherry casks for centuries, but almost all of that wood is already seasoned with wine, often more than once, before it ever reaches the whisky industry. A truly virgin cask that has never held a drop of liquid before is therefore a rare sight - its natural tannins and aromatic compounds are far more concentrated, since no earlier fill has used them up.

  • GlenAllachie 12 Year Old New Edition – sherry sweetness from Speyside
    Item no.: 2222786-2254

Some whiskies play it safe, and then there is this 12 year old from GlenAllachie, where sherry casks take the lead from the first drop to the last. Cream toffees and honey meet roasted coffee, and throughout you can feel the distillery's devotion to slow, patient maturation.

    Expert's description

GlenAllachie 12 Year Old New Edition is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky matured predominantly in sherry casks, bottled at 46% ABV. The New Edition expression builds on the distillery's core profile, where PX and Oloroso sherry casks are complemented by Virgin Oak casks that add extra vanilla and spice beneath the sherry sweetness.

The result is a dram that leans into classic sherried Speysiders, while carrying a clear GlenAllachie signature of nutty and banana-like tones that tie the whole thing together.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Cream toffees and honey settle like a blanket, while raisins and roasted coffee add depth to the aroma.

PX sherry casks are known for lending whisky a deep, almost jammy sweetness, and when a GlenAllachie spirit is allowed to rest eight years in one, the result balances power and sweetness well. This bottle comes from independent bottler Càrn Mòr, part of their Strictly Limited series.

    Expert's Description

Glenallachie 2013/2022 Càrn Mòr 8 Year PX Sherry Hogshead is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky at 47.5%, distilled in 2013 and matured for 8 years in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead cask, bottled by independent bottler Càrn Mòr, part of Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers.

The Càrn Mòr Strictly Limited series is known for gathering smaller cask parcels from a wide range of Scottish distilleries and bottling them at a fixed strength of 47.5%, without chill filtration and without added colour. This release is limited to 1,296 bottles, making it a relatively rare representative of GlenAllachie's spirit.

The PX cask — short for Pedro Ximénez — is well known in the sherry world for its dark, jammy sweetness, and it leaves clear marks on both colour and flavour when used for whisky maturation.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Dark sherry tones, jammy fruit and a hint of spiced warmth from the cask.

    Palate

Rich sweetness from the PX sherry meets GlenAllachie's fruity base character, with a layer of dark chocolate and spice.

  • GlenAllachie 9 Year Old Cuvée Cask Finish – wine-cask Speyside single malt
    Item no.: 22227555-9996

Picture a Speyside malt spending its final months surrounded by four different red wines from southern Europe. That is exactly what happened to this 9 year old GlenAllachie from the Wine Cask Finish series. The result is a dram full of dark berries, cherries and a touch of espresso, carried by GlenAllachie's signature sweetness.

    Expert's description

GlenAllachie 9 Year Old Cuvée Cask Finish is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky bottled at 48% ABV, finished in ex-Cuvée wine casks following initial maturation in American oak casks. The Wine Cask Finish series is the distillery's tribute to wine's influence on whisky, and this 9 year old expression draws its character from casks that previously held four types of European red wine: a Languedoc, a Recioto della Valpolicella, and two Premier Cru Classés whose identities the distillery keeps close to its chest.

The combination of American oak and the varied wine casks produces a spirit with a wide expression of red fruit and spice, where garden herbs and ripe cherries meet a touch of wild truffle at the more complex end.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Red fruits and sweet spices unfold alongside a touch of garden herbs, while ripe cherries add depth to the aroma.

    Palate

Coconut and liquorice meet raspberry coulis and blackcurrant in an interplay that drifts toward a lightly roasted espresso.

  • Glenborrodale Batch 2 bottle with golden blended malt whisky
    Item no.: 22227865409-500

Batch 2 is early in the run. Adelphi was still working out what Glenborrodale should be at that point, so the early releases carry a different character from the later ones — more straightforward, less polished.

    The expert's description

Glenborrodale 8 Year Old Batch Release no 2 is a Blended Malt Scotch Whisky from Adelphi, bottled at 46%.

Eight years is the age Adelphi returned to several times in the early releases of the range. It is long enough for the cask to have rounded the spirit off, and short enough for the malt character still to lead. The whisky is a marriage of single malts from several Scottish distilleries, with no grain whisky.

Adelphi has an unusual history. The distillery was founded in 1826 by the Clyde on the edge of Glasgow and closed in the early twentieth century. The name lay dormant for almost a century until a descendant of one of the former owners revived it in 1993 — this time as an independent bottler rather than a distillery.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Malt and baked apples, with vanilla and a dry cereal note behind. Simple and direct rather than layered.

    Palate

Firm and malt-driven. Honey, apple and pale caramel, with a spice that arrives late. The body is good at 46%, and there is a dryness running the whole way through.

    Finish

Medium. Malt and dry oak, with a lightly peppery close.

    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-197280322-4

An oloroso sherry hogshead is a mid-sized cask with a heavy payload. Càrn Mòr put a Glenburgie into one in 2010 and emptied it eleven years later. It produced 1,795 bottles, which is a lot for one cask — hogsheads hold around 250 litres.

    The expert's description

Glenburgie 2010/2022 Càrn Mòr Strictly Limited 11 Year Old is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in an oloroso sherry hogshead and bottled at 47.5%.

The whisky was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2022 with an outturn of 1,795 bottles, non-chill filtered and with no added colour. A hogshead gives faster than a butt because there is more wood per litre, and over eleven years the oloroso cask has managed to lay dark fruit and nuts in without taking over the brighter Glenburgie character.

Strictly Limited is the Càrn Mòr range for younger casks, and the strength is fixed at 47.5% throughout. Behind the range stands Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, where the fourth generation of the Morrison family runs the business from Aberargie in Perthshire.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Dark fruit and malt, with raisin, walnut and a trace of orange peel. Beneath the sherry the appley Glenburgie fruit sits and waits.

    Palate

Round and spiced. Dried fruit, honey and nuts, with a light bitterness from the cask towards the end. The 47.5% gives the whisky firmness without making it sharp.

    Finish

Medium to long. Malt, dark fruit and a dry, nutty close.

  • Glenburgie Càrn Mòr 12 Year Old bottle with dark golden whisky
    Item no.: 22227865479-116767

Càrn Mòr bottled two Glenburgies from 2010 in the same year. One sat in oloroso, the other — this one — in Pedro Ximénez. Same spirit, same vintage and almost the same age, but two different sherry types, and the difference is clear in the glass.

    The expert's description

Glenburgie 2010/2022 Càrn Mòr Strictly Limited 12 Year Old is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead and bottled at 47.5%.

The whisky was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2022 with an outturn of 1,418 bottles, non-chill filtered and with no added colour. PX sherry is made from sun-dried grapes and is far sweeter than oloroso. The casks give raisin, fig and dark syrup rather than the dry nuttiness oloroso lays in, and on a bright spirit like Glenburgie’s that means a noticeably rounder whisky.

The Glenburgie style is fruity, soft and elegant, with juicy apples, pears and bright malt notes. Càrn Mòr bottlings are known for letting that clean profile through, and here the PX cask gives a balance of sweetness, freshness and lightly spiced depth.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Raisin and fig first, with dark syrup and a warm spice note. Beneath the sweetness sit ripe fruit, vanilla and a trace of citrus.

    Palate

Round and sweet. Ripe fruit, honey and vanilla, with cereal malt underneath and a lightly spiced depth towards the end. The PX cask takes up room, but the appley freshness gets through.

    Finish

Pleasant and medium. Raisin and vanilla drying slowly into a lightly nutty close.

  • Glencadam 15 Year Old bottle with deeper golden Highland whisky
    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-197280192

Five years more than the ten year old, the same strength, the same approach. It is an honest way to show what time alone does to a spirit when nothing else is changed along the road.

    The expert's description

Glencadam 15 Year Old is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered and with no added colour.

Where the ten year old is bright and citrus-driven, the fifteen years have given the whisky a creamy texture and pulled it towards nuts and baking. The fruit is still there, but it has grown deeper and less sharp. The strength is the same, and the whisky is still neither chill filtered nor colour-adjusted.

The bottling won gold at the International Spirits Challenge in 2020 and scored 90.5 out of 100 in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible in 2014. Glencadam is not a name that takes up much room in whisky conversation, but the awards the distillery brings home stand in sharp contrast to how little it is talked about.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Sweet malt and vanilla mixed with citrus and toasted nuts. There is a baked note behind it that the ten year old does not have.

    Palate

Sweet and creamy. Sugared almond and panna cotta, with dried apple, nutmeg and cocoa powder. The texture is clearly fuller than in the younger release.

    Finish

Long and calming. Nuts and vanilla ebbing away into a lightly spiced close.

  • Glendronach Ode to The Valley bottle with pale amber whisky
    Item no.: 222111-7553

The valley at Forgue is where Glendronach sits, and the name of this release points back to the place rather than to the cask. It is the brightest and fruitiest of the three in The Master’s Anthology — the one where the spirit gets the most room.

    The expert's description

Glendronach Ode to The Valley is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in sherry casks and bottled at 46.2%.

At 46.2% it is the gentlest of the three in the series, and that is a deliberate choice. Where Ode to The Dark is dense and syrupy and Ode to The Embers is peated, Valley goes for floral nectar and summer berries — the bright end of what sherry casks can deliver. The whisky carries no age statement.

The Master’s Anthology appeared in December 2024 as three releases at once, composed by master blender Rachel Barrie. Valley is the entry to the series and the one that shows the Glendronach fruitiness without the heavy sherry layer the distillery is otherwise known for.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Floral nectar and summer berries, with pale honey and a trace of peach. The sherry sits as a calm undertone rather than as the lead.

    Palate

Fruity and round. Red berries, honey and ripe stone fruit, with a lightly spiced edge and a hint of nuts from the casks. The 46.2% keeps it light without making it thin.

    Finish

Medium. Fruit and honey sliding out into a dry, lightly nutty close.

  • Glenfarclas 105 bottle with deep amber whisky in the low squat shape
    Item no.: 22227865467-5

It began as a Christmas present. In 1968 George S. Grant bottled a cask of Glenfarclas at full strength and gave it to family and friends, and it later became the 105 — the first cask strength single malt to be regularly available.

    The expert's description

Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured primarily in oloroso sherry casks and bottled at cask strength 60%.

The whisky carries no age statement, but the contents typically sit somewhere between eight and ten years. The number 105 refers to the old British proof scale, where 105 degrees equals the 60% alcohol. The whisky is neither chill filtered nor coloured.

When the 105 reached the market, the cask strength category barely existed as something you could buy in a shop. It was a time when almost all single malt was reduced to 40 or 43%, and Glenfarclas took a chance sending something this powerful out to ordinary customers.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Raisins, nuts and dark chocolate, with a touch of oak. There is a light floral note that balances the heavy sherry elements.

    Palate

Intense and full from the first sip. Sweet malt and dark syrup, followed by spiced oak, cloves and a trace of liquorice. The strength registers clearly, but it is warming rather than sharp.

    Finish

Long, dry and lasting. Spices, dark fruit and a pleasant warmth that hangs on for a long time.

  • Glenglassaugh Sandend bottle in pale glass with a beach motif on the label
    Item no.: 22227865480-67093-0347

The crescent beach in Sandend Bay lies a couple of hundred metres from the warehouses. That is what the whisky is named after, and the bright, salted character fits the picture.

    The expert's description

Glenglassaugh Sandend is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in bourbon, sherry and manzanilla casks and bottled at 50.5%.

The manzanilla casks are the unusual element. Manzanilla is a dry sherry from the coast at Sanlúcar, and the casks give a chalky, lightly salted dryness rather than the dark sweetness known from oloroso.

Bourbon casks make up most of the recipe, which pushes the whisky in a bright and fruity direction. Sandend is the unpeated one of the three permanent 2023 expressions and the easiest to approach.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Soft, buttery vanilla ice cream, tropical fruit, chocolate and a touch of sea salt.

    Palate

Salted caramel with a fizzing burst of pineapple, cherry and grapefruit. White pepper and almond sit behind the fruit, with a light chalky dryness from the manzanilla.

    Finish

Clean and medium length with light oak, apple and vanilla biscuits.

The whisky is bottled at 48.2%, non-chill-filtered and with natural colour, giving a full-bodied balance between the sherry's sweetness and the bourbon cask's lighter, vanilla-driven tones.

    Expert description

Heaven's Door Straight Rye Whiskey is the brand's rye-based expression, bottled at 43%. Heaven's Door was created through a collaboration between music legend Bob Dylan and spirits entrepreneur Marc Bushala, officially launched in 2018. The name is drawn from Dylan's classic 1973 song 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door', and the brand is meant as a tribute to his passion for American whiskey's history and storytelling tradition. The distinctive iron gates featured on the bottles were created by Dylan himself at his own metalworking shop, Black Buffalo Ironworks, and several editions have showcased his paintings on hand-made ceramic bottles.

Two rye whiskeys meet for a rendezvous of spice and depth.

    Expert description

High West Rendezvous Blended Straight Rye Whiskey is a blend of two different straight rye whiskeys, a younger high-rye expression and an older, more classic mash bill, bottled at 46%. High West Distillery was founded in 2006 by former biochemist David Perkins and his wife Jane, who moved to Park City, Utah, in 2004 to start the distillery. When the distillery opened in 2007, it was the first legal distillery in the state since Prohibition ended in 1870 — Utah had gone over 130 years without a legal distillery. The distillery started in a historic livery stable with a small 250-gallon still and expanded in 2015 with a larger facility in Wanship outside Park City. High West is known for blending and finishing whiskey from multiple sources into unique, complex expressions.

  • Highland Park Between You and I bottle from the Björn Frantzén collaboration
    Item no.: 222665-8558

Some whiskies are made to be drunk. This one was made to be argued over. Highland Park handed cask selection to a Swedish three-star chef, then sent the bottle out with no official tasting notes at all. What comes in the box instead is a set of 16 cards and one question: what do you taste?

    The expert's description

Highland Park 16 Year Old Between You and I By Björn Frantzén Single Orkney Malt Scotch Whisky 48% is a Single Orkney Malt Scotch Whisky matured in virgin Swedish oak, ex-bourbon casks and sherry-seasoned oak casks, bottled at 48%.

Björn Frantzén is the Swedish chef behind Frantzén in Stockholm, the first restaurant in Sweden to hold three Michelin stars. His cooking pulls Nordic produce through Japanese precision and French technique, and that way of thinking about flavour is exactly what Highland Park wanted inside the warehouse when the casks were chosen.

Virgin Swedish oak carries the whisky. It is the first time the distillery has matured spirit in that wood, and it brings a dry, nutty spice found nowhere else in the range. Around it sit ex-bourbon casks for sweetness and warmth, and sherry-seasoned oak casks pulling vanilla and dried fruit into the blend. Underneath everything lies Highland Park's own heather peat, dialled well down.

Every bottle ships with those 16 cards. They do not tell you what should be in the glass; they ask questions and leave the wording to you. The whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled at natural colour, so nothing of the character is planed off on the way out of the warehouse.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Vanilla and pale orchard fruit lead, then a dry nuttiness from the Swedish oak — somewhere between hazelnut and freshly planed timber. The peat sits far down and reads as dried heather rather than bonfire.

    Palate

A soft opening of honey, apricot and candied lemon peel. Then the oak tightens with nutmeg and a flick of black tea, and only at the very end does the smoke slide in from the side.

    Finish

Medium length and on the dry side. The spice hangs on, the malt returns, and a trace of salt closes it out alongside the last of the smoke.

    Investment potential

High. This is the first Highland Park matured in virgin Swedish oak, the release is limited in time, and a collaboration between an old Scottish distillery and a three-star chef rarely gets a second run. A cask type that exists nowhere else in the range makes the bottle hard to replace once the shelves clear.

    Did you know?

Highland Park sent Björn Frantzén the very first bottle without telling him what to look for. His own associations ran from a tropical palm beach to childhood baking in Sweden, and those responses became the starting point for the packaging design.

  • Bottle of Inchmurrin Madeira Wood Finish Whisky
    Item no.: 22227865397-252

Madeira casks often give whisky a sun-soaked, fruity glow, and with Inchmurrin it turns into a feast of red berries and spiced chocolate. This expression shows just how far the distillery's fruity style can be stretched with the right cask.

    Expert's Description

Inchmurrin Madeira Wood Finish is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in bourbon casks with a Madeira finish and bottled at 46%.

The whisky is first matured in ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to casks that previously held Madeira – a fortified wine from the Portuguese island of the same name. The finish gives the whisky its signature fullness of red berries, chocolate and spice, without ever drowning Inchmurrin's natural fruitiness. The whisky is non-chill filtered.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Bright and sweet with light smoke, orange, mango and toffee, plus a dusty fruitiness of red berries and fortified wine.

    Palate

Dark and full with charred wood, cinnamon and coffee cake, along with chocolate confectionery filled with red berries and creamy vanilla.

    Finish

Intense finish of smoke and roasted chestnuts, with lingering black pepper and a touch of liquorice.

  • Bottle of Isle of Fionia Sjæl PX Cask Finish Single Malt Whisky from Nyborg Distillery
    Item no.: 22155-89698

Sjæl means soul in Danish. When organic Danish malt meets a cask full of Pedro Ximénez sherry, something happens that goes beyond the technical. A whisky that tastes like it means it.

    Expert description

Isle of Fionia Sjæl PX Cask Finish is an organic Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered and with natural colour. Distilled at Isle of Fionia / Nyborg Distillery in the historic DSB train depot in Nyborg, Funen, the whisky first matured in ex-Bourbon casks before undergoing a finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. PX sherry is one of the densest and sweetest sherry styles, produced from semi-dried grapes, and its casks leave a deep sweetness of raisins, figs and dark chocolate in the whisky. Bottling without chill filtration preserves the natural fatty acids that give body and a slight haze.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Deep and sweet with a clear layer of PX sherry: dark raisins, plums and a hint of dark chocolate. Underneath lies the Bourbon sweetness from the first casks – vanilla and caramel.

    Palate

Full-bodied and persistent with concentrated fruit sweetness. Figs, dates, slowly drifting orange peel and a warm, lightly tannic finish from the oak. The body is elegantly heavy.

    Finish

Long and sweet with lingering notes of dark fruit and a discreet spiciness that slowly fades.

    Did you know?

Pedro Ximénez is made from grapes dried on mats under the Andalusian sun until the juice concentrates. The result is a sherry so dense and sweet it can almost be eaten with a spoon – and the casks it was stored in are among the most sought-after by whisky distilleries worldwide.
