The rum comes from the Uitvlugt distillery in Guyana, where it was distilled on the historic Port Mourant double wooden pot still, one of the most iconic and oldest still-operating distillation units in the world. After distillation, the rum first aged five years in Guyana's tropical climate before being moved to Denmark and continuing to age continentally for the rest of the 30 years. Renaissance 2018 White Alligator Single Cask is a Taiwan Rum, distilled from Taiwanese sugar cane molasses and aged 3 years in a new American oak cask, bottled at 64.8%.

Renaissance Distillery, founded in 2017 by Olivier Caen and Linya Chiou, was the first rum distillery in Taiwan and has since built a name for high-ester, intense rum styles. This release undergoes a 15-day fermentation, where dunder is added to boost ester content, followed by two pot still distillations, first for 7 hours, then for 13 hours. The name White Alligator refers to the brand-new American oak cask with heavy char, where the characteristic cracked surface resembles alligator skin. Only 205 bottles were drawn from this single cask.
