    Item no.: 22227865463-18

"Unquestionably one of the world's great whiskeys," writes whisky critic Jim Murray in his Whisky Bible about Green Spot – and it's hard to disagree.

    Expert Review

Green Spot Pure Potstill Irish Whiskey is a Pure Potstill Irish Malt Whiskey, bottled at 40%.

The whiskey is triple distilled at the Midleton distillery, and matured and bottled for Mitchell & Son of Dublin. Green Spot is one of Ireland's oldest and most beloved whiskey brands, with history dating back to 1887, when the Mitchell family's grocery business sold its own bottlings of local whiskey. The style is softer and more summery than the full-bodied, oily character found in Redbreast. The colour is golden maple syrup with amber-tinted edges. The nose offers grated citrus and orange peel, melding with barley malt and malt sugar. The palate evokes Ireland's soft, grassy hills: green apples, cloves and velvety oak sweetness.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Grated citrus and orange peel, barley malt and malt sugar.

    Palate

Green apples, cloves and velvety oak sweetness.

    Expert Review

  • Bottle of Hazelburn 10 Year Old Marsala Cask Denmark from Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown
    Item no.: 22227865434-10155

Hazelburn is Springbank's quiet third voice - no smoke, triple distilled, and a softness that surprises those who only know the distillery's other two styles. This release was bottled in a small number, exclusively for the Danish market.

    Expert Description

Hazelburn 10 Year Old Marsala Cask Denmark is a Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Springbank, finished in Marsala casks and bottled at 58.8%.

Hazelburn is one of the three styles produced at Springbank Distillery, standing apart by being triple distilled and entirely unpeated - an unusual combination in Campbeltown that gives a lighter, more refined whisky than its smoky siblings. This 10 year old was distilled in June 2007 and bottled in May 2018, after which a Marsala cask finish added sweetness and body that pairs well with Hazelburn's fresh core character. Only 258 bottles were released for the Danish market via Juuls Vinhandel.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Light caramel and strawberry jam meet almost overripe citrus, patisserie pastry and a touch of vanilla.

    Palate

Vanilla and cask notes blend with red berries in a creamy, almost viscous style that pairs beautifully with the high strength.

    Finish

Soft and round, with a lingering sweetness of berries and pastry that slowly gives way to a dry, lightly spiced close.

  • Heart of Gold Highland Blended Malt from The Uncharted Whisky Co. in a Sauternes cask
    Item no.: 059763-615-1080

Somewhere in a Scottish warehouse sat a cask nobody could quite place anymore. Pure Highland malt whisky, matured for years on bourbon oak, without a name and without a story, until two curious bottlers from Fintry found it and gave it a new finish and a new chapter.

    The expert's description

Heart of Gold 2013/2024 is a Highland Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, composed of malt whisky finished in a fresh Sauternes cask and bottled at 50%.

Behind the bottle stands The Uncharted Whisky Co., a small independent bottler run by Jack Breslin and Dana de Vos from Fintry, Scotland. The spirit in Heart of Gold is a marriage of malt whiskies from the Highland region, first matured in standard ex-bourbon casks before Uncharted Whisky discovered the parcel and chose to give it a final chapter in a fresh Sauternes wine barrique, cask reference UC030. The whisky was distilled in April 2013 and bottled in March 2024, giving it 10 years of total maturation, with only 363 bottles produced of this release.

Because the original distilleries behind the blend are not disclosed, Heart of Gold is a whisky that lives on its cask treatment rather than a named distillery, the Sauternes cask leaving a clear, sweet signature over the clean Highland malt character.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Ripe stone fruit and pineapple meet dried apricots and a light lemon-sherbet freshness, with a sweet, wine-like undertone from the Sauternes cask.

    Palate

Candied pineapple and a full, buttery character that moves into honey and freshly baked brioche.

    Finish

Long and sweet, with peaches and a creamy, almost custard-like close where the Sauternes wine sweetness lingers longest.

    Item no.: 22227865486-19550

The poet of music meets the craft of bourbon in this Tennessee-based bottling.

    Expert description

Heaven's Door Straight Tennessee Bourbon Whiskey is the brand's bourbon expression, bottled at 42%. Heaven's Door was created through a collaboration between music legend Bob Dylan and spirits entrepreneur Marc Bushala, officially launched in 2018. The name is drawn from Dylan's classic 1973 song 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door', and the brand is meant as a tribute to his passion for American whiskey's history and storytelling tradition. The distinctive iron gates featured on the bottles were created by Dylan himself at his own metalworking shop, Black Buffalo Ironworks, and several editions have showcased his paintings on hand-made ceramic bottles.

  • Compass Box Hedonism The Muse blended grain whisky bottle
    Item no.: 22227865475-8268

Grain whisky is almost always tucked away inside blends where nobody notices it. Hedonism is the bottle where John Glaser put it up front and asked people to taste it properly.

    Expert description

Compass Box Hedonism The Muse is a Blended Grain Scotch Whisky bottled at 53.3% without chill filtration and without added colouring.

Hedonism was the first commercial blended grain whisky when Compass Box launched it in 2000, and The Muse is the house bottling at cask strength. Grain whisky is distilled in a column still rather than a pot still and is usually used as a soft backbone in blends. Given long maturation in good American oak it instead develops a creamy, coconut-like sweetness no malt whisky can produce. At 53.3% it stands far more powerfully than the standard Hedonism.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Vanilla pod, coconut and crème brûlée. Behind them sit sugared popcorn, pale caramel and a trace of wood shavings.

    Palate

Velvety and sweet. Vanilla, coconut milk, white chocolate and pale syrup, with a warm spiced note that comes from the strength rather than the oak. The texture is thick without turning cloying.

    Finish

Long and creamy, with vanilla, coconut and a dry oak note slowly drying out the sweetness.

    Specifications

    Flavour profile

    Investment potential

Medium. The Hedonism range appears in changing editions, and cask strength bottlings are both scarcer and more sought after than the standard version.

    Did you know?

When Hedonism arrived in 2000, blended grain barely existed as something you sold on its own. Compass Box essentially built the category from scratch, and today several large houses have followed with grain bottlings of their own.

    Expert description

Henrich Gilors is a German Single Malt Whisky, bottled at 42.8%. Brennerei Henrich near Frankfurt has distilled fine spirits since 1983, originally fruit brandies and liqueurs from the family's orchard. Item no.: 22227865403-327

The bottle's 24 facets symbolise Japan's 24 traditional micro-seasons - a detail that says almost as much about Hibiki as the whisky itself.

    Expert Description

Hibiki Harmony is a Blended Whisky from Japan, bottled at 43%.

Hibiki means "harmony" or "resonance" in Japanese, and the Harmony expression combines malt and grain whisky from Suntory's three distilleries - Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita - including whisky matured in Japanese mizunara oak. The result is a soft, floral, gently sweet style that has become Hibiki's best-known release internationally.

    Tasting Notes

    Item no.: 222278651114-887412

Alex Bruce and Charles MacLean taste their way through dozens of casks before just one earns the right to carry the Adelphi name. This 8-year-old bourbon cask from High Coast was among the chosen few, bottled at full cask strength of 62.3%.

    The Expert's Description

High Coast 2012/2021 Adelphi Selection is a Swedish Single Malt Whisky matured in a bourbon cask and bottled at 62.3%.

The whisky was distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2021 after nine years of maturation in cask #397, selected by Adelphi's long-standing team around Alex Bruce and renowned whisky writer Charles MacLean. The pair routinely taste through dozens of casks from distilleries such as High Coast, and fewer than 4% pass the test to be bottled under the Adelphi name.

The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured, and the full cask strength delivers an intense expression of High Coast's signature style, shaped by the sharp temperature swings by the Ångermanälven river.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Powerful and direct with notes of vanilla, coconut and freshly cut oak, carried by the high strength.

    Palate

Intense and full-bodied with caramel, toasted nuts and a touch of spiced ginger that holds its balance despite the strength.

    Finish

Long and warm with lingering notes of vanilla and toasted cask that ring out for a good while.

    Item no.: 22214-887415

By the icy waters of the Ångermanälven river in northern Sweden stands one of the world's northernmost distilleries. This ten-year-old comes from a single sherry cask, selected by independent bottler Adelphi Selection, with only 320 bottles in existence.

    The Expert's Description

High Coast 2013/2024 Adelphi Selection is a Swedish Single Malt Whisky matured in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask and bottled at 57.1%.

High Coast Distillery, formerly known as Box, sits by the Ångermanälven river in northern Sweden, where sharp temperature swings drive a fast and intense maturation. The distillery uses both Swedish lager malt and peated malt imported from Scotland, striking a balance between Nordic finesse and classic whisky character.

This release was distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2024 after ten years of maturation in cask #1527, a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask selected by Adelphi Selection's team for its series of independent bottlings. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Rich aromas of chocolate, dried fruit and toasted nuts, combined with a touch of smoke and spice.

A classic has had a fresh coat of paint. Highland Park 12 Years Old remains the distillery's most accessible dram, but in 2024 it got both a new design and a polished profile that still holds the same balance of sweetness and smoke that made it a fixture.

    Expert Description

Highland Park 12 Years Old (2024 Re-Design) is a Single Orkney Malt Whisky matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks and bottled at 40%.

The whisky is a masterful balancing act between sweetness and smoke, with vivid notes of Seville oranges and heather honey unfolding into layers of spiced fruitcake, before finishing with a gentle touch of Orcadian peat smoke.
