  • Bottle of Inchmurrin 18 Year Old Loch Lomond Single Malt Whisky
    Item no.: 22227865397-217

On the small island of Inchmurrin in the middle of Loch Lomond lies the name for one of the distillery's most fruit-forward styles. 18 years in cask has given this expression a depth of nuts, spice and ripe apple that surprises those expecting a light summer whisky.

    Expert's Description

Inchmurrin 18 Year Old is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in oak casks and bottled at 46%.

Inchmurrin is distilled on Loch Lomond's straight neck Lomond still, which captures the spirit at an unusually high strength of around 83-85%, giving it a highly fruity character reinforced by an extra-long fermentation. After 18 years in cask, the whisky has developed a depth of nuts, dried fruit and spice, building on the distillate's natural fruitiness.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Hob nobs and whole grain biscuits, cinnamon bark and caramel-coated almonds and hazelnuts, with overripe orange and a hint of mint.

    Palate

Green grass and herby notes meet black pepper, old leather and caramel, with tropical fruit and tobacco.

    Finish

Long, warming finish with spice and liquorice, drying oak and caramel.

    Item no.: 22227865403-323

The same abandoned railway tunnel beneath Hiroshima that gives Togouchi's older releases their calm also lays the foundation for this 12 year old.

    Expert Description

Togouchi 12 Year Old is a Japanese Blended Whisky, bottled at 40%.

The whisky comes from Sakurao Brewery and Distillery, which has developed the Togouchi brand since 1990. Like the other Togouchi releases, part of the whisky matures in an old railway tunnel with constant temperature and humidity, giving a softer, more rounded character than ordinary warehouse ageing.

    Item no.: 22227865438-337

There is something rebellious about a Miltonduff that steps out of the Chivas blending vats to stand alone in the glass.

Note: This older bottle may show minor signs of age just below the label and a scratch on the box.

    Expert's Description

Miltonduff 12 Year Old Glenlivet Malt Scotch Whisky in the 70cl format is a late-1980s Speyside malt, bottled under the historic "Glenlivet Malt" designation at 43%.

Like its smaller 50cl sibling, this bottle dates from a time when several Speyside distilleries added "Glenlivet" to the label to signal regional origin – a practice since prohibited, making this 70cl release a rare piece of whisky history.

  • Highland Park Harald Warrior Series bottle in silver box
    Item no.: 22227865388-27

Some kings are remembered for their wars. Harald is remembered for his army, and the most feared of them all — the berserkers — who went into battle with bloodied shields. Highland Park has poured that story into a bottle where strength and sweetness meet without compromise.

    Expert Description

Highland Park Harald The Warrior Series is a Single Orkney Malt Whisky matured in a generous share of European and American oak and bottled at 40%.

Harald is named after the Orcadian Viking chieftain who, according to saga, could muster an army of berserkers — warriors so fearless their reputation reached far beyond the islands. The shield that marked his men is also the motif on the bottle's box. The whisky is part of The Warrior Series, a collection of six releases, each honouring a central figure from Orkney's Viking history.

The style is full-bodied and spiced, built on a high share of both European and American oak casks, giving the whisky a robust, oak-driven character with sweetness underneath.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Vanilla and ginger root meet dried strawberries and a calm, faintly smoky peat, with a hint of sandalwood underneath.

    Palate

Full-bodied and lightly sweet, like sponge cake with grated nutmeg and a discreet hint of lavender.

  • The Antiquary De Luxe Old Scotch Whisky vintage edition bottle
    Item no.: 22227865451-30

A glimpse of whisky history, from when strength was measured in proof rather than percent. This bottle is a rare relic of a bygone era.

Note: This is an old edition of The Antiquary De Luxe, bottled under the old British proof system, and the bottle may carry natural signs of age such as light label wear or variation in fill level.

    Expert description

The Antiquary De Luxe Old Scotch Whisky is a blended Scotch whisky from an earlier edition of the brand, bottled at 40% ABV, equivalent to 70 UK proof under the old British proof system.

The proof system was used to measure the alcoholic strength of spirits until 1980, after which it was replaced by the percentage-based ABV we use today; 70 proof equals roughly 40% ABV.

The bottle holds 26 2/3 fluid ounces of whisky, equivalent to roughly 75 CL, a detail that reveals the bottle's age, since modern bottlings are typically 70 CL.

The Antiquary was founded by the Hardie brothers in Edinburgh in the late 19th century and today belongs to Tomatin Distillery Co, though this edition dates from an earlier period of ownership.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Dry sherry, old oak and a hint of cigar box, typical of the blending style of its era.

    Palate

Nuts, dark honey and a faint smokiness that speaks of an earlier blending style.

    Finish

Short to medium, dry and lightly spiced, with a last hint of old wood.

    Specifications

  • Black Bottle 10 year old Old Version with vintage label
    Item no.: 22227865397-12

Some bottles become interesting because they disappeared. This version of Black Bottle 10 Years was pulled from the shelves when the brand changed its clothes — and only afterwards did people realise what they had been keeping.

    Expert description

Black Bottle 10 Years Old Version is a Blended Scotch Whisky bottled at 40%.

Old Version refers to the bottle shape and label used before the brand relaunch. Both the packaging and the age statement have been retired, and the whisky is no longer produced in this form. The blend is built on Islay malt as its load-bearing element, joined by malt from the rest of Scotland and grain whisky.

The colour is rich and golden, and the profile leans on peat smoke and honey rather than cask spice. Ten years give the blend the roundness that keeps the smoke from ever standing alone.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Light, fresh and fruity on first approach, with unmistakable hints of peat underneath. Baked apple and a waxy grain note follow.

    Palate

A gentle honey sweetness fills the palate before the signature smoke settles over everything. Malt, dried fruit and a touch of peppery warmth.

An old warehouse in Ballindalloch, steam from short flat-topped pot stills and water from the Craggan Burn. This is Speyside as it was once bottled — in the big litre bottle with the yellow band.

    Expert description

Cragganmore 12 years Old Version is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40% in a litre bottle.

The release dates from the 1990s, when Cragganmore was still sold in the discontinued litre measure with a yellow duty band — a design collectors know and look for. The distillery was founded in 1869 by John Smith, who sited it close to the Strathspey railway, locally known as The Whisky Line. Cragganmore still uses worm tub condensers, which almost nobody else does, and that is a large part of the reason for the heavy, complex house style.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Sweet heather and meadow flowers first, then honey, vanilla and a dry nutty cereal note from the years in glass.

    Palate

Soft and finely woven. Malt, honey, sandalwood and a touch of sweet wood smoke, carried by a lightly oily texture the modern bottlings do not quite reach.

    Finish

The name comes from the Corryvreckan whirlpool north of Islay, a natural phenomenon that mirrors the whisky's raw power. It's neither chill filtered nor coloured, letting the full cask strength show through from the first sip to the last.

    Tasting Notes

No finish. No port casks, no wine casks, no detour. Glenfarclas has built its whole range on sherry casks alone, and the 15 year old is where that decision pays out most.

    The expert's description

Glenfarclas 15 Year Old is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in sherry casks and bottled at 46%.

The 46% is higher than in both the 10 and the 12 year old, and that is no accident. Fifteen years in sherry casks builds a depth that a low bottling strength would have flattened, and the extra three percentage points keep both the sweetness and the spice in place.

For many people the 15 year old is the point where Glenfarclas stops being an everyday whisky and becomes something you reach for deliberately. The sherry is still recognisable from the younger releases, but it has been joined by roasted nuts, dates and a texture that is clearly fuller.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Complex sherry notes with a touch of understated smoke, cream caramel and a small hint of dried fruits such as dates and figs.

    Palate

Great body with elegant balance. Plenty of sweetness from the sherry casks, malty tones, roasted nuts and a light smoke that sits beneath the fruit rather than on top of it.

    Finish

Long and lingering with lavish sweetness, light smoke and plenty of complexity.

Glenfarclas does not use cask finishes in its core range. Where most distilleries today round their whisky off in port, wine or rum casks, Glenfarclas has held on to sherry casks alone from fill to bottling.

    Item no.: 22227865466-10

Named after the loch the distillery draws its water from, and just as dark and pulling as the name suggests.

    Expert Review

Ardbeg Uigeadail is an Islay Single Malt Whisky matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 54.2%.

The name is pronounced "Oog-a-dal" and comes from the loch where Ardbeg draws its water, a direct nod to the island's rugged nature. The whisky is non-chill filtered and unadulterated with colour, preserving the full depth from both the bourbon and sherry casks.

Uigeadail has won several international awards and is regarded by many as one of the most complete releases in Ardbeg's range, precisely because it unites the distillery's peat smoke with a deep sherry sweetness without losing balance.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Tar, burnt wood and maritime notes meet dried fruit, honey and warm spice from the sherry casks.

    Palate

Bold and complex, where smoky tar, burnt sugar and dark chocolate play alongside raisins and spice.

    Finish

Long and warm, with a deep and satisfying finish that ties smoke and sweetness together.

  • Bladnoch 8 year old bottle in older livery with pale whisky
    Item no.: 22227865438-17

Eight years does not sound like much, but on a light Lowland spirit it is enough. The bourbon cask has had time to set vanilla and fudge in place without smothering the freshness that makes the style recognisable.

    Expert description

Bladnoch 8 Years is a Single Lowland Malt Whisky matured in refill bourbon casks and bottled at 46%.

This is an older version of the distillery's eight year old, a bottle from before the current range was built. Refill bourbon casks were chosen precisely so as not to drown the spirit, and the result is soft and round with plenty of sweetness.

Bladnoch sits in Galloway and is Scotland's southernmost distillery. The house works with unpeated malt and a pale spirit style, where bourbon casks have traditionally formed the backbone of the range.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Vanilla and fudge first, then fresh apples, a little coconut and a light grainy sweetness.

    Palate

Soft and round with caramel, vanilla and white fruit. The 46% gives it enough body to keep the sweetness from flattening out.

    Finish

Medium and light with vanilla, grain and a dry oak note at the end.

US law allows a bourbon barrel to be used only once for bourbon. That is why Scotland has had access to inexpensive, nearly new oak casks for decades — and why vanilla is such a widespread note in Scotch whisky.

    Item no.: 22227865459-28

An 8-year-old whisky sounds young on paper, but when cask strength hits 57.4%, there's nothing thin about the experience.

    The expert's description

Edradour 2003/2011 Second Release 8 years old is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in a bourbon cask and bottled at 57.4%.

The whisky was distilled in 2003 and matured for 8 years in a bourbon cask before being bottled in 2011 as the second release in its series. Despite the relatively young age, the high natural cask strength gives the whisky an intense, concentrated character, where the bourbon cask's vanilla and Edradour's light, floral core play off each other clearly. 1,820 bottles were released.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Fresh vanilla and green apple, with a hint of honey and a lightly peppery edge.

    Palate

Intense and spicy with citrus peel, caramel and a fine warmth from the high strength.

    Finish

  • Bottle of Kilchoman Single Cask FC Whisky Denmark 3 Islay Single Malt Whisky from sherry butt
    Item no.: 22227865411-3

November 2006 was still the distillery's first year, and this sherry butt is one of the very earliest testimonies to how Kilchoman sounded before the world had really discovered them.

    Expert's description

Kilchoman 2006/2010 Single Cask FC Whisky Denmark 3 is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 4 years old from a single sherry butt and bottled at cask strength, 59.9 %.

The whisky was distilled on 8 November 2006, just over a year after Kilchoman was founded, and matured for four years in a single sherry butt — cask number 316 — before being bottled on 10 November 2010. It is the third release in the former FC Whisky Denmark series.

Because it comes from a sherry butt, one of the largest cask types in the whisky world, the spirit gets far more contact surface with the wood than in smaller casks, giving a deeper, spicier sherry character after just four years.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Rich sherry sweetness meets dark fruit and peat smoke, with a hint of toasted nuts and spice.

    Palate

Full and spiced at cask strength, with sherry sweetness, dark chocolate and a distinct, well-balanced peat smoke.

    Finish

Long and warm, with lingering smoke and a final trace of raisin and oak.

    Did you know?

A sherry butt typically holds around 500 litres, markedly more than most bourbon casks — giving the spirit more room to breathe, but also a different, more gradual cask influence than in a smaller cask.

    Item no.: 22227865411-5

The fifth and last known cask in the FC Whisky Denmark series is a direct, young and powerful single cask — a closing chapter in the story of how Kilchoman was discovered by Danish whisky enthusiasts.

    Expert's description

Kilchoman 2008/2011 Single Cask FC Whisky Denmark 5 is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 3 years old from a single bourbon cask and bottled at cask strength, 61 %.

The whisky was distilled on 14 August 2008 and bottled on 3 October 2011 from bourbon cask number 400/2008. Only 250 bottles exist in total, making it one of the most limited releases in the FC Whisky Denmark series.

As the fifth and last known release in the series, it represents the close of a period when Kilchoman regularly selected individual casks specifically for the Danish market — a practice that has since become a rare exception rather than the rule.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Young, sharp peat smoke meets citrus peel and vanilla sweetness, with a light saline undercurrent.

    Palate

Powerful and spiced at cask strength, with peppery smoke, honey and a distinctly oily texture.

    Finish

Long and intense, with lingering smoke and a dry, mineral finish.

  • Bottle of Kilchoman Spring 2011 Release Islay Single Malt Whisky
    Item no.: 22227865411-10

Before Machir Bay got its name and its permanent spot in the range, Kilchoman released whisky in seasonal glimpses — one release for spring, another for summer. Spring 2011 is one of the last chapters in that era, before the distillery found its steady course.

    Expert's description

Kilchoman Spring 2011 Release is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled at 46 %.

In the years following its 2005 founding, Kilchoman regularly released small, season-named bottlings — Autumn 2009, Spring 2010, Summer 2010, Winter 2010 and finally Spring 2011 — each a snapshot from a distillery still finding its identity. All sold out shortly after launch.

In 2012, Kilchoman decided to gather its standard release under one name, Machir Bay, and the season-named releases became history. Spring 2011 is therefore one of the last bottles from this period still to be found.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Young, fresh peat smoke meets citrus peel and a hint of vanilla sweetness, with a light saline undercurrent of sea breeze.

    Palate

Direct and energetic, with peppery smoke, honey and a touch of green apple that gives a fresh counterpoint to the intensity.

    Finish

Medium length, dry and smoky, with a final trace of citrus and wood.

Medium. The season-named releases from 2009-2011 were succeeded by Machir Bay in 2012 and are no longer produced, making Spring 2011 a rare glimpse of Kilchoman's early history.

    Did you know?

Spring 2011 is one of the last releases from the period when Kilchoman named its bottlings after the season rather than a standing series — a practice that ended when Machir Bay launched as the distillery's permanent standard release in 2012.
