Glenrothes 1997/2014 Buttered Tealoaf 17 Year Single Malt Speyside Cask 46%Glenrothes Buttered Tealoaf 17 Year is a Single Cask Speyside Malt Whisky with only 384 bottles. Made by family-owned whisky merchant Wemyss, who over many years have built up a fantastic whisky portfolio with casks from almost every distillery in Scotland. Their Single Cask bottlings are all given a special name that alludes to some of the tasting notes and aromas their professional tasters get. Among their tasting panel that approves the final product is whisky expert Charles Maclean (Whisky writer and member of the Master of the Quaich). Enjoy Glenrothes 1997 Buttered Tealoaf with good friends. Wemyss Malts Glenrothes 1997 / Buttered Tealoaf 70cl / 46% Single Cask Malt Scotch Whisky A Single cask malt whisky from independent bottler Wemyss This one comes from the Glenrothes distillery in Speyside, distilled in 1997 and left to mature in a single butt. The cask was opened in 2014 and bottled with an outturn of 384 bottles. They've given it the name "Buttered Tealoaf" For many, the concept of blending in the whisky industry is a dirty word, but the Wemyss family's wine background means they see it very differently. Their collaboration with Charlie Maclean to blend signature malts has been a huge success and the products are winning awards. WEMYSS means caves in Scottish and evokes the rocky shores of the Fife region. Fife is the seat of Wemyss Castle, from which the family has looked out to sea for over 800 years. As well as being from a single year, Wemyss' whiskies are single cask bottlings. As only genuine single casks are selected, the majority of casks are rejected. This means that each batch is limited to between 300 and 600 bottles, after which the taste of each cask can never be recreated. All Wemyss malt whiskies are bottled at a minimum of 43% (most at 46%). All Wemyss malt whiskies are bottled at min. 43% (most at 46%), while a very few bottles are bottled at cask strength. As a special feature, these whiskies are free from colourings of any kind - and not adjusted with caramel, for example. They are also not cold-filtered, and therefore they reach the customer in their natural state - alive and with their own individual character.
