The whisky is aged in used bourbon and sherry casks and distilled in a total of 6 different copper pot stills (3 wash stills and 3 spirit stills) not just 2 times but 2.81 times (this started the distillery back in 1896 and has since helped to give the distillery its excellent flavor profile). On the palate you'll find dried fruits, fresh notes of citrus as well as vanilla and fine toffee. Try Mortlach 16 year Distiller's Dram 2.81.

It is bottled exclusively for the Danish market, and from cask number HL18599, 216 bottles of wonderful whisky have been produced. It has been aged in a cask that previously contained port wine, and therefore appears quite reddish in color. The nose has spicy notes that are supported by fresh red fruit. It has flavors of plums, caramel and licorice. In the finish, there is a long sweet and fruity note that ends with a kick of pepper. Mosgaard Distillery released their first Ex-Bourbon release on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, at this year's Whisky Fair held at the Sydbank Arena in Kolding.

This whisky has been aged for 6 years in Ex-Bourbon barrels: the first 4 years in Quarter Casks and then 2 years in American standard barrels.

When the barrel was first opened, the intense aroma of both sweet and sour tropical fruits surprised Mosgaard Distillery, hence they chose the name Pineapple Experience. The scent of tropical fruits is followed by a smooth and gentle aroma of vanilla, with an undertone of bitter orange notes and orange blossom. The floral notes may evoke thoughts of tea leaves. Additionally, it is filled with a lot of warm spices; cardamom, cloves, and hazelnuts.

Mosgaard Amontillado Single Cask is the name of this Danish Single Malt Whisky - selected by Jes Mosgaard and with only 250 bottles, don't wait too long to buy this delicious Danish whisky. Amontillado is an exciting experiment based on aging the whisky in two different types of sherry casks. It is first aged for almost 4 years in Oloroso casks, which gives the well-known elegance, sweetness and fine fruit notes that characterize our Oloroso whisky - and then another year in an old Amontillado Hogshead.

Amontillado sherry is an exciting double-aged sherry that is first aged under Flor in the casks, and after approx. After 3.5-5 years, the Flor falls and it now continues to age oxidatively, and this process typically gives the sherry exciting notes of tobacco, nuts, acidity and "wood" notes.

It is exactly this spicy mix that Jes Mosgaard wanted to add to what the Oloroso barrels can provide, and he has succeeded to a great extent. His notes from a previous tasting are dryness, almonds/nuts, vanilla/marzipan, plums, blue grapes, figs, cinnamon, orange - and with a little water it opens up with tingling grape notes. It's bottled at 58%, so it's exciting to sit and enjoy it over time, adding water a little at a time to slowly work through the different flavors.
