History & background

Rum Nation was founded in 1999 by the man behind the idea, Fabio Rossi, who had built considerable experience through years of travel, tastings and research in rum-producing countries from the tropical Cancer to the Equator. Fabio Rossi personally travelled to almost every country that produces good rum, finding the casks that would later make up the company's range. The strong response to the early releases cemented Rum Nation as a serious player, and the company has since held onto its philosophy of single origins in limited quantities.

Production & style

Rum Nation doesn't distil itself but selects rum distilled from sugar cane in countries like Jamaica, Barbados, Guatemala and Nicaragua, using both pot still and column still depending on each country's tradition. After import, part of the rum matures further in Italy's temperate climate, giving a slower, gentler maturation than the tropical heat allows.
