    In 1992, the then United Distillers (now called Diageo and the world's largest spirits company) started the Flora & Fauna series, which at the time consisted of 26 different versions of Scotch Single Malt whisky to show the vast differences in Scotland's whisky regions. Bottled at 43% for most of the bottles, but a few were also bottled at Cask Strength, i.e. full cask strength, and some versions also came in wooden boxes.

    Beautiful, citrusy flavor, aroma and body. Relatively dry and spicy with hints of licorice, tobacco, orange peel and white pepper. A little smoke is also mixed in, as well as salted caramel, nuts and pepper.

Selected by malt master Kelsey McKechnie, the whisky is aged for 12 years in European oak casks previously filled with Montilla wine from Andalusia.     Blackadder Black Snake Vat No. 17 Third Venom Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70 cl 59.6% is an intense and characterful whisky bottled at cask strength, created by the independent bottler Blackadder as part of their experimental Black Snake series.

    This edition – Third Venom from Vat No. 17 – is based on a solera-inspired maturation system, where whisky is first aged in first fill bourbon casks and then transferred to an Oloroso sherry butt. A portion of the vat is bottled, and the remainder is topped up with fresh bourbon-matured whisky, creating depth and continuity in the flavour profile.
