The bay of storms has lent its name to this whisky. Sea air, seaweed and a touch of honey meet in a glass from Campbeltown.

    Expert description

The Gauldrons Batch 2 is a Campbeltown Blended Malt Scotch Whisky from Douglas Laing, assembled purely from malt whisky sourced from Campbeltown distilleries and bottled at 46.2% ABV.

The name Gauldrons refers to the dark, storm-battered coves on Campbeltown's west shores, whose name roughly translates to "bay of storms", and the bottle's spiderweb design nods to the legend of Robert the Bruce, who after a defeat was inspired to keep fighting by a spider building its web in this very bay.

Batch 2 is the second release in the series and, like the first, is bottled in small batches with no added colouring and no chill filtration, preserving the whisky's raw, maritime character.

Douglas Laing was founded in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing and is today carried on by the third generation of the family, with Cara Laing a central figure following a split of the company in 2013.
