Are you, like us at Whisky.dk, absolutely crazy about rum? Then this page is just for you. On this page you can find a universe of rum. We have a great passion for rum and we really want to share it with you.

Rum is made from cane sugar and water. This mixture is fermented to form a liquid containing 8-10% alcohol. It is then distilled to an alcohol percentage of up to 90% and then stored on oak barrels. Once the rum has been stored, it is diluted to 40-43% alcohol and filled into bottles.

Below you can see our large selection of rum. We have many different brands and variants. By clicking on the categories below, you see different kinds of rum variants.

  • Bottle of SBS Origin Selection Cane Juice Jamaica white rum
    Item no.: 059763-615-252

Jamaica is known for molasses-heavy, ester-bomb rum - this bottle does something entirely different and goes straight to fresh cane juice.

    Expert Description

SBS 2022/2023 Origin Selection Cane Juice 1423 Jamaica Rum is a white Rum from a single estate in Jamaica, roughly 1 year old, distilled directly from fresh sugarcane juice, bottled at 57%.

According to 1423, this release is the first commercially available example of a pure cane juice rum from Jamaica - distilled directly from fresh, unpressed sugarcane juice rather than the molasses Jamaica is traditionally known for. The rum comes from a single estate, was distilled in 2022 and bottled in 2023 with minimal cask influence, letting the fresh cane juice take centre stage.

The result is markedly different from the powerful, funky Jamaican style most people know - a brighter, greener and more direct rum, showing a completely different side of the country's rum tradition.

    Expert Description

SBS 2022/2023 Origin Selection Red Cane 1423 Guadeloupe Rum is a white Rum from Guadeloupe, roughly 1 year old, column distilled from Red Cane sugarcane, bottled at 57%.

The rum is part of 1423s Origin Selection, a range that puts the focus on the character of a single sugarcane variety rather than long cask ageing. This release is made from Red Cane, a specific sugarcane variety grown in Guadeloupe, distilled in 2022 and bottled in 2023 without significant cask influence. The result is a rum that shows the pure, earthy and lightly spiced character of the cane without being masked by oak and vanilla.

    Expert description

Serum Panama Seasons Vintage 2005 Dry is a dry Rum from the Sèrum distillery, bottled at 45%.

The sugar cane is chopped and crushed into fresh cane juice, which is then distilled directly - unlike the more common molasses-based rum - to preserve a fine aroma of cane and fruit. Panama Seasons Dry Vintage 2005 is non-chill filtered and has no added sweetener or artificial colouring, giving a cleaner, more unadorned rum style than many other Panamanian releases.

Sèrum is a Panamanian rum brand founded in 2018 that draws inspiration from the history of the Panama Canal. With the Panama Seasons series, the distillery shows another side of the country's rum tradition, where the agricole-inspired approach using fresh cane juice contrasts with the brand's more classic molasses rum.

    Expert description

Serum Panama Seasons Vintage 2005 Wet is a Rum from the Sèrum distillery, bottled at 40%.

Like its dry sibling, the Wet release is distilled from fresh, concentrated cane juice rather than molasses, giving a fine aroma of cane and fruit. Sèrum is a Panamanian rum brand founded in 2018, drawing on the history of the Panama Canal. The Panama Seasons series, to which both Wet and Dry belong, shows two sides of the same craft - one raw and unadorned, the other round and inviting.

    Expert Description

Skotlander Lab Edition Jamaica High Ester White Rum is a Jamaica Rum, distilled in 2017 from Monymusk and New Yarmouth and matured about 3 years in steel tanks, bottled at natural strength of 75.2%.

The Rum Lab range is Skotlander's experimental branch, where the northern Jutland distillery explores how far rum's flavour spectrum can be stretched. This release is a high ester rum with an ester count of 750 grams per hlpa, a level that places it among the most powerful, intense rums distilled in Jamaica. Instead of ageing the rum in wood, it was matured in steel tanks at fluctuating temperatures between 5 and 22 degrees, preserving the raw, unfiltered distillate character.

    Item no.: 22227865486-330

An American whiskey distillery from West Virginia ventured into rum for once and found two Jamaican rums from 1990 and 1985 respectively, which blended together yield an average age of 28 years.

    Expert Description

Smooth Ambler 1990 Revelation is a Jamaica Rum, a blend of column still and pot still distillates with an average age of 28 years, bottled at 49.5%.

The rum was assembled by Smooth Ambler Spirits, the American distillery in West Virginia founded in 2009, primarily known for whiskey, for which this release was their first rum bottling. The blend consists of 75% column still-distilled rum from 1990 and 25% pot still-distilled rum from 1985, with the youngest content being at least 23 years old. The rum is bottled without additives and was a limited release, not to be reissued once sold out.

Five botanicals from three continents and salt from a seabed millions of years old – not the recipe you would normally associate with rum.

    Expert description

Spirited Union Spice and Sea Salt is a botanical Rum based on Caribbean rum from Barbados, infused with five selected botanicals and bottled at 41%.

The Dutch spirits house Spirited Union builds its botanical rums on a principle borrowed from the world of gin: a rum base is infused with a handful of carefully chosen botanicals rather than a single flavouring. In the Spice and Sea Salt expression, Guatemalan cardamom, Madagascan clove and vanilla, and Peruvian cacao meet organic Anana salt from a seabed millions of years old, giving the rum a character that is at once sweet, spiced and salted.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Mellow warmth of spice and fruity molasses, complemented by tropical fruit, bright spices, cocoa powder and cardamom.

    Palate

Harmonious blend of sweetness, spice and salt, opening with citrus and floral tones before moving into rich vanilla, fragrant spice and a subtly nutty close.

    Finish

    Item no.: 22278-66635

Spirited Union calls itself the world's first botanical rum house, and XO Colombia is an example of their signature method, where an origin rum gains an entirely new layer of character in Amsterdam.

    Expert Description

Spirited Union XO Colombia is a Colombia Rum, finished in coffee-seasoned casks, bottled at 40.5%.

The rum comes from Valle del Cauca in Colombia, where it is distilled on column stills from both sugarcane juice and molasses and matures tropically for up to 3 years in ex-bourbon casks. It is then shipped to Spirited Union's own distillery in Amsterdam, where it is finished for up to 2 years in tailor-made casks pre-conditioned with roasted coffee and rum. This "continental ageing" method gives the rum a subtle yet distinct coffee character that sets it apart from traditional, unflavoured Colombian rum.

The result is a sophisticated, complex rum, where coffee and caramel meet toasted oak and a light red fruit note.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Coffee, caramel and toasted oak with a hint of red fruit.

Where XO Colombia builds on coffee, Spirited Union's Jamaica edition takes its character from banana casks, an unusual finishing process that gives classic Jamaican pot still rum an entirely new expression.

    Expert Description

Spirited Union XO Jamaica is a Jamaica Rum, finished in banana casks, bottled at 42.7%.

The rum is distilled and aged for up to 15 years in Jamaica, before being shipped to Spirited Union's own distillery in Amsterdam and finished for 6 months in tailor-made casks pre-conditioned with banana rum. The long Jamaican ageing gives the rum a pronounced, fruity pot still character, which the banana casks then reinforce with a sweet, tropical depth. The method is part of Spirited Union's Exclusive Rum Cask Series, where different countries of origin are combined with tailor-made Amsterdam casks.

The second colour in A Clean Spirit's Skunk family shows how a new fermentation batch can produce an entirely different character, even from the same base recipe.

    Expert Description

Spotted Skunk Rum is a Danish Rum, distilled from organic molasses from Paraguay at A Clean Spirit in 2022 after long fermentation, unaged and bottled at 69.3%.

As part of the experimental Skunk series, Spotted Skunk represents an independent batch with its own fermentation and distillation profile, distinct from the house's other Skunk releases. Where the original Skunk emphasises ripe banana and caramel, Spotted Skunk takes a more berry and pineapple-forward path with a pronounced spicy undertone.

The result is a fruity, lightly vegetal rum, where the long fermentation gives a pleasant complexity despite its young age.

    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-197280366

Custom-designed yeast and two and a half weeks of fermentation give this edition of the Skunk family a surprising mild tartness that almost brings the Mediterranean to mind.

    Expert Description

Striped Skunk Rum is a Danish Rum, distilled from organic molasses from Paraguay at A Clean Spirit after a 2.5-week fermentation on custom-designed yeast, unaged and bottled at 69.3%.

Where the other Skunk releases draw clearly on the powerful Jamaican style, Striped Skunk takes a different direction with notes more reminiscent of Mediterranean herb fields than Caribbean tropical fruit. The long fermentation period on the custom yeast gives the rum a mildness of acidity and alcohol that's unusual at this high strength, making it well suited to fresh drinks like a mojito.

The result is an aromatic, herbaceous rum, where mint and Italian culinary herbs take centre stage.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

For Christmas punch kettles and a whole winter of cocktails, the litre bottle of the milder Stroh is the obvious choice. Same fiery character, just more of it.

    Expert description

Stroh Original 60% is a Rum from Austria, bottled at 60% and here in the large 100 cl bottle, intended for households and bars that use it regularly in drinks and cocktails.

Stroh was founded in 1832 by Sebastian Stroh in Klagenfurt. Where the 80% edition mainly belongs in the kitchen, the 60% strength is made for more direct consumption, so the litre bottle is a natural choice for bars and households that regularly make hot drinks like Jagertee and Punsch or use Stroh in cocktails through the winter.

Do not call it rum in Austria. Call it Inländer Rum, an explosive local specialty that has been filling cake batter and mulled wine since Franz Josef sat on the throne.

    Expert description

Stroh Original is a Rum from Austria, powerfully bottled at 80%.

The rum comes from the Austrian distillery Stroh, founded by Sebastian Stroh in 1832 in Klagenfurt. Because Stroh is not distilled from sugarcane molasses in the traditional Caribbean manner, it cannot legally be called rum in every market, which is why in Austria it carries the historic designation "Inländer Rum." Expert description

Takamaka Blanc is a White Rum distilled on column and pot still and bottled at 40.2%.

The rum comes from Trois Frères Distillery on Mahé in the Seychelles, the country's only distillery. The base is a molasses-based column distillate, distilled up to 94%, which is then diluted with pure spring water from the island to bottling strength. Item no.: 22227865407-11-7

Where Dark Spiced leans into spice, Extra Noir goes for depth, a darker, more intense rum without a single drop of added sugar.

    Expert description

Takamaka Extra Noir is a Dark Rum matured 60 days in former Rhum Agricole casks and bottled at 43%.

The rum comes from Trois Frères Distillery on Mahé in the Seychelles and is a blend of pot still and column still distillates from molasses. After blending, the rum spends 60 days in casks that previously held French sugarcane rum, giving it extra depth and complexity. At bottling, only 0.7 ml of caramel per litre is added to keep the colour consistent, but no sugar, setting Extra Noir apart from the house's sweeter Dark Spiced expression.

  • Clear bottle with light yellow label and palm motif, Takamaka Zenn
    Item no.: 22227865407-11-3

Zenn is the Creole word for "sweet," and that's exactly the feeling Takamaka has tried to capture in this light, accessible rum.

    Expert description

Takamaka Rum Zenn is an Unaged Rum with a brief passage through ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40%.

The rum comes from Trois Frères Distillery on Mahé in the Seychelles and is composed as a light, creamy, immediately accessible rum that gains a subtle wood influence from a short period in American ex-bourbon casks without being categorised as a true age-stated rum. This makes Zenn a middle ground between the house's clean Blanc expression and the fully matured dark rum releases.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Fresh citrus and tropical fruit, complemented by a hint of oak and a fine vanilla note.

    Palate

Light tones of vanilla and brown sugar accompanied by spiced nuances, plus fruitiness from citrus and pineapple.

    Finish

Refreshing and mild with a light oak note and fruit that lingers on the palate.
