This dark rum is a blend of young and older distillates blended with a 25-year-old mother rum. A small amount of Vino PX (Sherry) is added and aged for 8-12 years in American oak barrels using the solera method. It's difficult to give a reliable age for a rum like this, so the producer has refrained from doing so and simply called it "Ron Muy Viejo", which directly translated means, very gammel rom! This "very old rum" smells of dark caramel with hints of vanilla and wood. It has a very rounded taste of caramel, with mild notes of oak and a long pleasant aftertaste with hints of honey and prunes.
