Fourteen years in bourbon casks, one more year in an old cognac cask. The Napoleon name isn't random, it signals something extraordinary.
Expert description
Ron Abuelo XV Napoleon Cognac Cask Finish is a Rum from Panama, matured 14 years in ex-bourbon oak casks and finished one year in former cognac casks, bottled at 40%.
The rum comes from Varela Hermanos, which has distilled rum in Panama since 1908. The Abuelo XV series is the house's platform for experimental finishing, where the same 14-year base rum is refined on different types of specialty casks. The Napoleon edition uses old cognac casks to add a layer of ripe fruit, cocoa and toasted wood on top of the house's classic toffee foundation.
