    Item no.: 22227865479-1004

While the house's Rose AOP is a permanent fixture in the range year after year, Rose Vintage is reserved for the vintages Deutz's cellar master deems worthy of standing alone. 2014 is one of them - a rare, pure Pinot Noir champagne from a single harvest.

    Expert's Description

Deutz Rose Vintage 2014 is a Sparkling Wine from Champagne, France, made from 100% Pinot Noir with an alcohol content of 12%. Unlike the house's non-vintage rose, this is a vintage champagne where all the grapes come from the 2014 harvest - a year that, despite challenging weather across much of Champagne, allowed Deutz to select its finest Pinot Noir parcels for a concentrated, deeply coloured cuvee. The champagne has spent longer on the lees than the house's standard wines, giving it extra complexity and depth.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Intense on the nose, with ripe raspberry, cherry and a hint of pepper.

    Palate

Full-bodied and fruit-driven on the palate, with bold red berries, a creamy texture and acidity that keeps it all taut and fresh.

    Finish

The finish is long and persistent, with a final note of dark cherry.

Where Brut Classic shows the house's dry, classic side, Rose AOP reveals a more sensual facet of Deutz. The colour alone - a pale, salmon-pink hue - tells the story of a champagne built to charm.

    Expert's Description

Deutz Rose AOP is a Sparkling Wine from Champagne, France, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with an alcohol content of 12%. The rose colour is achieved by adding a small proportion of red wine from Pinot Noir to the white cuvee before the second fermentation, a method that gives Deutz precise control over colour and fruit character. The champagne house, founded in Ay in 1838, has made rose a permanent part of its range, keeping the style dry despite the more fruit-driven profile. The bubbles form through the Traditional Method, with extended lees ageing.

  • Bottle of Stella Angelo Hugo Italian sparkling wine with elderflower
    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-197140

The Hugo cocktail has for years been a summer classic in the cafes of the Alps, built on elderflower, mint and sparkling wine. Stella Angelo has taken that idea and bottled it directly - a sparkling wine that already tastes like Hugo before you have even touched it with mint and lime.

    Expert's Description

Stella Angelo Hugo is an Italian Sparkling Wine with natural elderflower aromas and an alcohol content of 10%. The wine has added sugar and aroma to recreate the fresh, floral summer taste that otherwise takes several ingredients to achieve in a classic Hugo cocktail. With its lower alcohol content than regular prosecco, it is designed as a light, festive sparkling wine that is just as good straight from the bottle as it is in a mixed drink.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Elderflower and a fresh, summery sweetness on the nose.

    Palate

Light and refreshing on the palate with clear elderflower character and a fine, lively mousse.

    Finish

    Serving & Food Pairing

Serve chilled at 6-8°C in a wine glass or highball glass. Decanting is not needed. Try it with mint leaves, lime and ice for a classic Hugo cocktail, or enjoy it on its own as a summer drink.

In magnum format, Brunello matures more slowly and harmoniously - a fitting way to experience Fornacina's 2015 vintage if it's meant to be cellared a little longer.

    Expert's Description

  • Bottle of Modavi Solen Danish white wine with yellow label
    Item no.: 22227865479-1106-19561

The Solaris grape got its name for the simple reason that it ripens earlier than most other white grape varieties - an advantage that is hard to overstate when the vineyard sits near Kolding rather than in Burgundy.

    Expert's Description

Modavi Solen 2018 is a Danish White Wine from Kolding made from Solaris with an alcohol content of 12.5%. Modavi Vingaard was established in 2004 and today grows around 14,500 vines across 6 hectares, where Solaris is one of the main varieties precisely because it is bred to ripen early and cope with Denmark's shorter growing season. Solen is aged for four months in oak barrels, which adds extra facets and a rounder structure than is typically found in unoaked Danish white wines.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Plenty of citrus and ripe fruit on the nose.

    Palate

Full-bodied on the palate with a fine aromatic balance and a hint of vanilla from the oak ageing.

    Finish

The finish is smooth and reasonably long, with a pleasant bite.

At a vineyard near Kolding, where the Danish climate is far from ideal for growing grapes, Modavi makes something few other Danish producers attempt: a red sparkling wine from the hardy Rondo grape.

    Expert's Description

Modavi Vingaard was established in 2004 and today grows around 14,500 vines across 6 hectares, mainly the Solaris and Rondo varieties, both bred to handle Denmark's shorter season and lower average temperatures. Boblen Den Rode is made using the Traditional Method, the same technique used in Champagne, where the second fermentation happens in the bottle itself. The result is a rare Danish red sparkling wine, vintage 2018.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Fruity on the nose, with red berries and a touch of the freshness typical of Nordic viticulture.

    Expert's Description

Pinea 2014 Vintage Ribera del Duero is a Red Wine from Ribera del Duero, Spain made from 100% Tempranillo, bottled at 14.5% ABV.

The wine comes from old vines on the plateau's lean soils, where wide day-to-night temperature swings push the grapes to develop unusual concentration. Very well made with a clean and inviting taste, further highlighted by a well-balanced sweetness - you automatically want another glass, even though this sparkling wine is practically alcohol-free.

    Expert's Description

Pierre Chavin Zero Sparkling is an alcohol-free Sparkling Wine from France, made from Chardonnay with an alcohol content of 0.5%. Domaines Pierre Chavin was founded in 2010 by Mathilde Boulachin in Béziers in Languedoc-Roussillon, and the name was chosen deliberately - Pierre is the most common first name in France, and Chavin is built around the word "vin" (wine). The wine is first produced as regular sparkling wine and then undergoes a gentle low-temperature dealcoholisation process, typically using vacuum distillation or a spinning cone column, which removes the alcohol while preserving the aroma, texture and complexity of the original wine.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Yellow fruit and a hint of florals on the nose.

    Palate

  • Two Riedel Extreme crystal glasses for rosé and Champagne on a table
    Item no.: 22227865489-26-4441-55

Designing one glass that works for both a dry rosé and a lively glass of Champagne isn't a simple brief. Riedel solved it with a single shape in the Extreme collection.

    The Expert's Description

The Riedel Extreme Rosé/Champagne 4441/55 is a machine-blown glass in crystal glass from Riedel, designed for both rosé wine and Champagne in the same bowl shape. It's an unusual solution within the Extreme collection, where most glasses are shaped for a single grape variety, but here Riedel chose a form that supports both the fresh fruit of a rosé and the bubbles in a glass of Champagne. If you're after the bubbles to go with it, take a look at our range of Champagne & Sparkling Wine.

    Design & Material

The bowl is narrower than the red wine glasses in the collection but wider than a classic Champagne flute, giving space to both the fruit of a rosé and the bubbles of a Champagne without either drink losing out. The glass is machine-blown crystal glass, giving a consistent weight and thickness.

    Use & Recommendation

Use the glass for dry rosé wines, where the fruit needs to come through clearly, or for Champagne and other sparkling wine, when you want a glass with a bit more bowl than a traditional flute. It's dishwasher safe, making it easy to use both every day and for celebrations.

    Did You Know?

Designing one glass for two drinks as different as still rosé and sparkling Champagne is a balancing act - too much bowl, and the bubbles fade too fast; too little, and the rosé's aromas don't get room to open. The shape of this glass is Riedel's answer to that balance.

    Expert's Description

Nitus Cava Semi Secco is a Sparkling Wine from Penedès, Catalonia, Spain, with an alcohol content of 11.5%. Nitus is a brand under Bodegas Sojosa, founded in 1985 by Arturo Ramos and Joseph M.
