A 19 year rum from the Foursquare distillery in Barbados. The rum has a light golden color, which is a bit unique, as Foursquare it is usually dark rum. The color is due to the fact that it has aged most of its life in the continental climate. This has given the rum a slightly softer and milder expression. The notes offer coconut, vanilla, a little chocolate, spices and on the back edge some fine wood notes.

About Foursquare Rum

Foursquare Distillery is located on Barbados on the site of a former sugar factory and is run by Richard Seale, one of the rum industry's most outspoken advocates for transparency and quality without shortcuts. The distillery blends distillate from both pot and column stills and matures it in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, always without added sugar, colouring or other additives, which has made the brand a favourite among critics and bartenders worldwide. History & Background

The Seale family has run sugar and rum production on Barbados since 1926, but the modern Foursquare distillery was founded by Richard Seale on the site of a closed sugar factory, where he invested in both pot and column stills to create a broad spectrum of rum styles under one roof. Seale is known in the industry for being a driving force behind the creation of Barbados' official "Barbados Rum" appellation in 2020, a legal protection banning additives he had long argued against. This uncompromising stance has made Foursquare one of the most cited examples of how a small Caribbean distillery can set the agenda for an entire industry.

History & Background

R.L. Seale & Co. was founded in 1926 by Reginald Leon Seale as a rum trader and bottler, but it was not until 1996 that Foursquare Rum Distillery began distilling on the former Foursquare sugar factory site, established by David Seale in 1995. The site itself dates back to around 1730, when a molasses factory was built there, and the first distillery followed in 1737.
