Rolland Galarreta Wine

When France met Spain in a wine glass, Rolland & Galarreta was born. Two of Europe's most respected wine names, Frenchman Michel Rolland and Spaniard Javier Galarreta, set out to unite their countries' winemaking heritage in a single bottle. The result is wines that carry both cultures' fingerprints without compromising either.

    Eldoze comes from Finca Rosalejo, a single vineyard by the mountains around Toledo, where the grapes are organically grown on soil of more than 2.5-million-year-old slate.

    R&G Rolland 2014 Eldoze Suelo de Xisto Rojo is a Red Wine from Spain made from 100% Syrah, bottled at 14.5% ABV.

    The wine comes from Finca Rosalejo, a 12-hectare vineyard 670 metres above sea level in Castilla-La Mancha, where the vines average more than 20 years of age. After harvest, the grapes are fermented and macerated at 25°C in both stainless steel tanks and open wooden barrels, after which the wine is aged for 15 months in 1-2 year old French oak barrels followed by a further 12 months of bottle ageing.

    Nose

    Ripe, juicy fruit with a hint of spice.

    Palate

    Soft and easy-drinking with good fruit concentration, typical of a warmly cultivated Syrah.

    Finish

    Medium length and juicy.

    Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass. Pairs with grilled food, tapas and spiced lamb.

    R&G Rolland 2017 Clos D'en Ferran is a Red Wine from Spain from the DOQ Priorat appellation, made from a blend of Carignan (Cariñena) and Garnacha, bottled at 14.5% ABV.

    The wine is created jointly by French wine consultant Michel Rolland and Spanish winemaker Javier Galarreta, and belongs to the house's Super Premium category. After harvest, the wine is aged for around 18 months in American oak barrels.

    The grapes are selected using Vistalys, an optical sorting technology from Bucher Vaslin, which ensures only perfect grapes proceed in the process. The stems are removed without crushing the grapes, and the wine ages in total for 10 months in new American oak barrels.

About Rolland Galarreta Wine

Rolland & Galarreta was created by French winemaker and consultant Michel Rolland and Spanish wine visionary Javier Galarreta. Their shared passion for wine and deep know-how has produced remarkable tasting experiences that bridge French finesse and Spanish power. For the newcomer it's an accessible gateway into two great wine traditions at once; for the collector, the name Michel Rolland alone is a mark of quality, as he is regarded as one of the world's most influential wine consultants and has advised some of Bordeaux's most prestigious chateaux.

History & Background

The partnership between Rolland and Galarreta grew out of decades of mutual respect between two wine regions that have traditionally viewed each other as rivals. Michel Rolland built his name consulting for a long list of Bordeaux chateaux before expanding his work internationally, while Javier Galarreta has roots in the Spanish wine culture around Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Together they chose to let the grapes and the terroir speak, rather than forcing a single style onto both countries' wines.
