After a period of time in these glass balloons, the rum is transferred to more traditional whisky casks, but casks that have contained South African whisky, which is in fine symbiosis with the South African production. The Nkomazi sugar cane that the rum is made from is grown nearby and helps to give the unique character that Mhoba rum is becoming world famous for.   Mhoba White Pot Stilled High Ester is not like the "regular" white rum from Mhoba. This version comes in different batches, but the difference is also that the fermentation takes longer and uses "thunder", like classic powerful Jamaican rums. However, this one is made from pure sugarcane juice and not molasses. It's distilled at a lower strength, which makes for a more powerful and heavy rum.
