Leitz Weingut

Leitz makes wine for those who love the ritual around the bottle as much as the grape, just without the alcohol. Eins-Zwei-Zero is proof that a glass of alcohol-free wine can absolutely have both finesse and character.

The Leitz family has grown grapes in Rudesheim since 1744. When Johannes Leitz took over the estate in 1985 with just 3 hectares, he could hardly have foreseen that a couple of decades later he would become one of the pioneers behind the modern alcohol-free wine movement with the Eins Zwei Zero range.

    Expert's Description

Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Riesling is a German Sparkling Wine from Rheingau, Germany, made from Riesling with an alcohol content of 0%. Weingut Leitz makes the wine by first fermenting the grapes into a regular Riesling, after which the alcohol is gently removed through a vacuum process that avoids heavy heating and thereby best preserves the grape's typical aroma and taste. The name Eins Zwei Zero - one-two-zero in German - playfully refers to the journey from regular wine to the alcohol-free end result.

    Expert's Description

Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling is an alcohol-free Sparkling Wine from Rheingau, Germany, made from Riesling with an alcohol content of 0%. About Leitz Alcohol-Free Wine

Leitz is a respected German Riesling house from the Rheingau that has used its winemaking expertise to develop the alcohol-free Eins-Zwei-Zero range. For newcomers it's a surprisingly enjoyable way to experience wine's aromas without the alcohol; for connoisseurs it's notable that a house rooted in classic Riesling production dares to invest so much technique in removing the very alcohol wine is otherwise built around.

History & Background

The Leitz winery has roots in the Rheingau region's long Riesling tradition and has, over generations, become one of the most respected names in German white wine. As demand for alcohol-free alternatives grew, the house chose to invest in advanced dealcoholisation technology to offer a wine that still tastes like wine. The Eins-Zwei-Zero range is the result of that investment and has since helped change perceptions of what alcohol-free wine can be.

Production & Style

The wine is made by gently removing the alcohol from a finished Riesling wine, preserving acidity and fruitiness as much as possible.
