Two casks from the same distillate, bottled just a year apart – a rare chance to see how a single bourbon barrel can pull a whisky in its own direction. This is one half of that story.

    Expert's Description

Glenlossie 2006/2021 Signatory 14 Year Old is a Single Speyside Malt Whisky bottled at cask strength, 58.6%.

Distilled on 27 November 2006 and bottled on 22 April 2021 by Signatory, from two bourbon barrels, Cask No. 3291 and 3302, yielding 388 bottles – with no added colour and no chill filtration, so the colour is exactly what the casks gave it.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Pale honey and vanilla custard with a hint of coconut from the bourbon cask. Beneath the sweetness sits a dry, cereal malt and a touch of green apple.

    Palate

Powerful and sweet, with caramel, vanilla sugar and a warm, peppery spice. The bourbon cask's imprint is clear, but it never smothers the malt beneath.

    Finish

Long and dry, with a faintly bitter oak note and a last trace of honey.

Frequently asked questions about Glenlossie 2006/2021 Signatory 14 Year Old

    What makes this Glenlossie special?

It's a 14-year-old single malt from two bourbon barrels, bottled at cask strength of 58.6% – only 388 bottles exist from this release.

    Is this whisky smoky?

No, Glenlossie is unpeated. The bourbon barrels bring vanilla and caramel sweetness, not smoke.

    Should I add water?

Yes, a few drops work well – it takes the edge off the strength and opens up the vanilla and apple notes on the nose.

How does this release differ from the sister 15-year-old bottling?

Both come from the same distillate, but this one was bottled a year earlier from a different cask pairing, giving a slightly paler, more direct profile.

    Is this whisky worth it?

With only 388 bottles from two specific casks, this is a rare chance to taste Glenlossie in its unfiltered, cask-strength form.

What glass suits this whisky best?

A nosing glass best concentrates the vanilla and caramel aromas and makes it easier to follow the long, dry finish.
