Stauning barrels, warm spices and a full-bodied imperial porter. Barrel Aged Jule-Blend is made for the long, dark winter evenings.
Expert description of Fanø Bryghus Barrel Aged Jule-Blend
Barrel Aged Jule-Blend is a powerful and complex Christmas beer from Fanø Bryghus at 11.5% ABV, aged in whisky barrels and brewed with warm spices and coffee. This imperial porter is aged for four months on Stauning Whisky barrels, adding depth and complexity. The beer has a dark, dense colour with an aroma of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.
The taste is full-bodied and warm with notes of liquorice, wood and dried fruit, and the alcohol is well integrated, supporting the sweet, spiced profile. The mouthfeel is oily and soft, and the finish is long and rounded with a pleasant warmth. The beer works well as a dessert beer, with strong cheeses, or as a slow sip by the fireplace.
Fanø Bryghus is located on the West Jutland island of Fanø, where the North Sea and the island's raw nature are a clear part of the brewery's identity. The brewery makes everything from classic, golden lagers to barrel-aged specialties, and has won several awards for its craft.
