Mad Scientist travels the globe for the perfect coffee bean in their Roasters Paradise series - this time landing in Honduras, on the San Rafael farm.
Expert description of Mad Scientist Roasters Paradise San Rafael Honduras
Roasters Paradise San Rafael - Honduras is a powerful Imperial Coffee Stout at 11.3% from the Hungarian brewery Mad Scientist in Budapest, brewed in collaboration with coffee roaster Casino Mocca. Each release in the Roasters Paradise series celebrates a specific coffee farm, and this version uses a double dose of coffee from San Rafael in Honduras.
The beer is brewed with water, barley malt, wheat malt, oat flakes, candy sugar, caramelised oats, roasted barley, hops, yeast and coffee. The aroma is dominated by freshly brewed espresso, dark chocolate and roasted notes, while the flavour offers layers of coffee, cocoa, liquorice and a light sweetness from candy sugar and malt that balances the powerful body.
The colour is ink-black with a dense, dark-brown head. The mouthfeel is full and oily, and the finish is long and warming with a spicy undertone. The beer is unfiltered and best suited for slow enjoyment at 12-16°C in a snifter glass.
