The Oddmar Edition
The first glass sounds on paper like something quite far from my cask strength loving taste buds' preferences. A mere three years gammel rom at 43%. It is distilled from sugar cane juice in a copper pot still. I therefore don't have super high expectations - however, it is from the Richland distillery in the USA, which has a habit of making some really good bottlings.

Aroma: Milk chocolate, roasted nuts and pear dominate. There is some acidity, which must come from the sugar cane juice.

Taste: Chocolate, caramel and tobacco are the main flavors in my mouth. The acidity is less pronounced on the palate than in the aroma. And I'm surprised at how rich and powerful it seems for a rum of "only" 43%. Granted, I'm not knocked off my chair by a rumbling ester train from Jamaica - but I get a delicious taste experience that is complex enough without being too demanding.
