  The rum is produced by A Clean Spirit at one of the world's most sustainable distilleries in the Dominican Republic, where CO2 from fermentation is reused, vinasse is sprayed back onto the fields as fertiliser, and biomass is used as fuel. The Triple Cask edition differs from the standard 8 Year edition by combining three different cask types during maturation, giving it a more layered and complex flavour profile than the simpler base edition. The rum carries the same sustainability principles as the rest of the Ron Sostenible range, including transport via CO2-neutral sailing ships and recycled glass bottles.

  The result is a full-bodied, layered rum, where caramel and spice meet dried fruit and a light nutty note in a long, rounded finish.

CO2 from the fermentation process is captured in pressure tanks and reused for soda production, while vinasse from distillation is sprayed back onto the fields as natural fertiliser, and biomass is used as fuel for energy production. The rum is also transported by CO2-neutral sailing ships, and the bottles are made from recycled glass with cotton paper labels. Behind the principle lies the name Sostenible, Spanish for "sustainable".

  The result is a smooth and round rum, where caramel and light spice meet a dry, clean finish.

Part of the journey to Europe takes place aboard an old sailing ship powered entirely by the wind, where traditional craftsmanship meets an innovative approach to cask experimentation.
