Where Rioja gave the rum a red wine's depth, Tokaji lends it the golden sweetness of Hungary's famous dessert wine - another chapter in a series where no cask choice repeats.
Expert description
Ron Sostenible Experimental Cask 8 Year Tokaji Finish is a Rum from the Dominican Republic, finished in former Tokaji wine casks and bottled at 43%.
Like the brand's other Experimental Cask releases, the rum is distilled from locally grown sugar cane and matured for at least 8 years before undergoing its final cask finish. This time the choice has fallen on casks that previously held Tokaji, the famous Hungarian dessert wine known for its concentrated, honeyed sweetness - a cask choice that gives the rum a very different character from its Rioja-finished sibling.
The rum crosses the Atlantic aboard a wind-powered sailing ship, part of A Clean Spirit's overarching philosophy of sustainable production and transport. Because each cask choice is unique, no Experimental Cask release will ever taste quite like another.
Tasting notes
Nose
